We have implemented several new changes to the Wintergrasp outdoor PVP area, and would like to request some focused testing and feedback. Games will be running at normal intervals on the PTR.

As a reminder, here are the changes to Wintergrasp listed in the patch notes:

  • Wintergrasp

    • To provide players with a more transparent notification of when Wintergrasp battles occur, as well as better control zone population and stability, several changes have been made.

      • Players now have the option to queue for Wintergrasp from a Wintergrasp Battlemaster in any capital city or by simply entering the Wintergrasp zone.
      • Queuing will begin 15 minutes before each battle. If chosen, you will automatically be teleported to the zone. Any players in the zone who have not been chosen from the queue will be teleported out when the battle begins.
      • The queue system remains active for the entire battle. As soon as a player leaves, a new one will be chosen from the queue.
      • Trying to enter Wintergrasp during an active battle for which you have not been chosen will teleport you out. Please note that, as you are now able to fly over Wintergrasp, you will only be teleported out if you try to land and join the battle.
      • Level 80 players get higher priority in the queue than lower level players. In addition, a random selection of queued players will be taken from both the Battlemasters and the zone itself.
      • The queue will accept up to 100 players from each faction, resulting in a maximum battle of 200 players at a time.

    • Wintergrasp factories can no longer be damaged or destroyed.

    ==== Updated 15/07 ====

In the next PTR build we will be implementing several changes to how the Wintergrasp queue and group formations will work.
    • While in the queue for Wintergrasp, you will have an icon on your mini map that will allow you to leave the queue. This will function much like the current battleground queue button that is present on the mini map.
    • Players that queue for the Wintergrasp battle and are selected to join will be placed into raid groups upon entering the zone. These raid groups will function similarly to the battleground raid groups with a few exceptions. Players can leave it at any time, the leader can issue invites, etc. The only restriction is that if a player leaves Wintergrasp while the battle is active, they will be removed from the raid (to make room for the player that will take their place).
    • If the battle is not active this does not happen.

For a bit more clarification on the auto-raid function of the Wintergrasp queue, here is a bit more information. These changes should all be implemented in the next PTR build so you'll be able to see them for yourself soon.
    • Players can still form their own raid before Wintergrasp starts and they won’t be affected by the auto-raid mechanism. Players are not put in to a raid if they are currently in a party or raid when they join the battle.
    • If players want to get put in to a raid automatically, they need to leave their current party/raid before joining the battle.

As these changes can potentially exclude many people from joining wintergrasp, and with the potential to be declined access to wintergrasp multiple times in a row, this severely limits the amount of wintergrasp marks obtainable in one day. Realistically one can obtain 9 at the moment if you join 3 wintergrasps and win them all, but if you are not selected for 2 wintergrasps in a row, and lose the only one you are able to get in to, thats a potential 1 mark per day.

In light of this, are there any plans to reduce the costs of wintergrasp rewards ?

With a upcomming change in the queue system that you are transported out of WG if your not in the battle what will that mean for people that need to be there for there daily fishing quest. As long as the battle goes on you cant do the daily or farm mats (herbs, mining and eternals), as most know WG is the place to be for that. If i cant get in and with linited time to play and do stuff it would not be fair to house that kind of resources in that area.

What made Wintergrasp so amazingly fun was that it was a huge free-for-all, which really felt like a brilliant world event.

These changes seem to change it into just another battleground...

Really would rather you leave WG as it is. I love it now and don't want to see these changes.

Other than this and the Emblem changes it's an awesome patch. But damn... These changes depress me a little. And I'm not even a regular of hardcore PvPer. It's just so fun.

In the next PTR build we will be implementing several changes to how the Wintergrasp queue and group formations will work.

Please do continue to provide feedback on such changes as they're rolled out.

This is aweful. I don't care if I lag so I can't move.

And it seems that other people don't either. They keep joining anyway. To me it seems that 3.2 only has bad stuff except for the xp lock.

WG is one of the few reasons I like to play WoW. This has me seriously considering whether to keep playing or not.

are the raids formed out of the auto-raid mechanism still subject to joining the que? and if so, is that entire raid sellected to go as a higher priority to those that are not in a raid but in the que to join the raid?

also if a player that is bellow lvl 80 and in a pre-formed raid, is that player subject to a lower priority than those in the que but not in a raid group before the start of the WG event?

    So , that's a 100 vs 100 battle ... That means there will be a 100-man raid ? Or what ?

    One Question

will the bugg or what ever it is be fixed
When you di as horde and realse sometimes when the batles are over you suddenly pop up ona Ally controled GY with no RESS so you have 2 chose then RUN all the way to your corps or to the neares Horde contoled GY

And mostly that GY is on horde FP
and the bugg often lets you pop op on the GY next to ally FP

So wil lthis bugg be resolved?
and if memmory serves me right this has even happend while there is an battle going on to.

Will you implement some way to find out when the weekly Quests in WintergrasP will be eglible again?

Today there is now way to knowing when the weekly quests in Wintergrasp are eglible (like "Slay them All" and "Toppling the towers" etc.), that would be useful information.

    Peace!

My enemies enemy is my friend.
Security against defeat implies defensive tactics; ability to defeat the enemy means taking the offensive.
