Q u o t e:

then again i have well over 100 shards for WIntergrasp, and the achievement still reads 0/50. Blizzard really sucks at implementation.

I am not 100% sure, but i think you have to loot the shards from dungeon bosses, to get the achievement, not turn in WG quests.

Apparently you are right...

Wowhead member mbeam obtained this explanation from blizzard:

"Regarding the Stone Keeper's Shards, these items should be obtained via looting to activate the achievement. Try looting this item to see if it affects the counter on the achievement. "

That's weird, because it worked previously on my first 2 80's (this one of course has never been first to get to 80 in any expansion), addonexus managed to get the achievement from the daily quests (at that time).

Even the GM acknowledged to me it was a developer error and was in the process of being fixed.

Mixed messages from Blizzard... now there's a surprise.

Loremaster interests me because I "thought", with over 3.5 years on this priest, I knew all the old content.

And then I find I've only ever done 2/3 of Eastern Kingdoms quests and less than half of Kalimdor. That was a shock.

Besides, by doing Loremaster you'll gather a fair few other achievements along the way.

I'd guess it's an unintended feature, but it remains the case for the time being at least. For all those kind of achievements, it doesn't count "extras": Heroism counts don't include those obtained through the Daily Heroic quest; Cooking Awards don't count those looted from the reward bag; Stone-Keeper Shards don't count those obtained from the WG weeky quests, etc. Back at the start it sometimes counted some of them, but now it appears to be a blanket "doesn't work", possibly they removed them all to keep it fair until they could fix the issue, but who knows.

I will, probably get tired after few time, but I think I can managed if I make a few break of Raids/Dailies.

I already had Loremaster of Northrend and was very close to getting the other three Loremasters, so I just went for it. Got my Seeker title long before completing my last quest in Kalimdor.

I've been using this title ever since I got it as it's the only one that took a lot of effort. Gonna switch to Salty as soon as I catch one of those rare fish.

Loremaster....even though I have 23 titles and rising, this one is the only one worth using. Not only does it show some dedication and perseverance, it's a sign you've been around the world and done 99% of the quests the game has to offer. Beats any title given for killing whelps or snuffing out some fires.

I love the RPG side of the game. And I don't have time to raid more that I already do atm, and can often only be online half an hour or so, so the Loremaster is a fun achievement to go for... slow and steady.

It gives me something nice to do when online at somewhat strange hours

I was amazed at how much content I'd missed in four years of playing the game. There are quests out there you never even knew were there. I guarantee it!

I enjoyed finding really out of the way quest givers, like the pirate and her crew in Azshara that need protecting, though that one didn't count on the achievement, or the odd neutral quest in the horde lands I could still do, I recall a goblin in Durator that needed a hand.

I'd read a lot of QQ about how hard this achievement was, especially finding enough quests for the Kalimdor part. I've found it very simple so far though - I'm about 20 quests off completing it, and I've not even set foot into Silithus yet, and have some still available in Tanaris and Un Goro. Hardest zones for me were Nagrand and Blade's Edge - Blade's Edge requires you to get every single available quest in the zone, including chains starting in Netherstorm, unless you're lucky enough to pick up two breadcrumb quests at the right time before they cease to be available.

Just to clarify, it is by design that the Shards from Wintergrasp are not increasing the achievement for collecting Shards. Looting them is the key to the achievement. We agree that perhaps the achievement could use some means of revision within the description.

It's possible (but of course not a guarantee) that changes may come to this achievement down the line, but the current situation is bug free.

Anyway, back on topic with this thread!

I have 137 quests left before it's done, and 220 quests left for the Seeker title:D

Q u o t e:
what is your motivation to focus on this Achievement??

Quite simply, because I hadn't seen anyone else with the title, and I like to be unique.

When I stepped through the Dark Portal at Level 62 (ish) I did every quest in the first 3-4 zones without racing off and hitting the "harder" content. As I dinged 70, I hadn't touched Blades Edge, Shadowmoon, Netherstorm and half of Nagrand, so I had literally hundreds of quests to give me a pile of gold to level enchanting and gear up with epic flight and some nice mounts.

When achievements came out, I wanted to raise my rep with all alliance factions, so, being cheap, rather than handing in quest from repetitively grinding Stratholme, I did every quest I could find, mixing it up with a bit of Northrend questing, again doing all quests in one zone at a time to preserve Icecrown, Crystalsong, Storm Peaks and possibly Sholazar for questgold. That got me within spitting distance of the Northrend Loremaster, as I only had 5 more quests (over 2 zones) to find - and they were items that "start a quest" which I hadn't spotted while buzzing around.

When I worked out I only needed 200ish quests in each pre-BC zone to get this title I simply HAD to have it, so sacked daily quests in favour of bolting around the old world ganking ferrets for patches of butt-fur and stealing earrings off donkeys for the bloke next to the flightmaster... yeah, I've collected some strange stuff for even stranger people, and I believe the tabard says it best:

!

p.s. Got the Seeker title BEFORE Loremaster, as I'd well overdone it in Outland :-)

Had it almost finished when the Achievement system came, so thought what the hell, lets do it. It was actually hard back then, had to really look for the last 30 quests for Loremaster of Kalimdor. Now it's a cake for everyone who has the buttocks to sit through it. Yes, it takes perseverance.

Ganking since 2005
