Since posts about this issue don't get answers, I made a ticket about vanish not working versus city guards. (We all know the issue: The just ignore the vanish, and keep running after you, even if they are like 30 feet away, when you vanish.)

The conversation:

Well you can see it for yourself. It's our fault. It's the lag that causes guards to ignore vanish even if they are half a city away. -_-

EDIT: edited the screenshot for 'naming and shaming' reasons

Another example of how up to date GMs Blizzard employs. I can still remember back in BC on the Lady Vashij first kill, when the bat bombers didnt stop even after her death. The GMs response was: "How often does this bug accoured?" and after they explained a bit: "They are a part of the encounter, you should deal with them".
Thumbs up!

Interesting topic, thought it was only me this happened too...here's why i say that!

I like to have a bit of fun in Orgrimmar every now and then, but i know if i have a guard on my tail i will have to kill him before i vanish or vanish is an insta-fail or, like was quoted, the guard just runs straight towards me no matter how far away i am! And these are the standard lv75 guards!

Imagine my surprise when, a rogue attacking SW. I was on his tail and so was Officer.Saxon (or whatever the 80elite in SW is called lol) and he vanished and Saxon turned and runs back to his old roaming zone and ignored said rogue!

Interesting.

And i'm sure it's not a Horde/Alliance issue i'm just stating the example that happened to me.

The stealth detectors however do react to vanish... kinda ironicly.

EDIT:

Q u o t e:

edit: by the way, just like explained in that other thread, it's possible to ambush+vanish someone without pulling guards, which is funny if they added this "immunity to vanish" to avoid ganking with impunity. We can still gank lowbies if we want, but anything we can't 1-shot kill will make us agro guards. Ain't it lovely.

Exactly. And you can still kill some lowbies, and sprint away on the water in SW, or down the 'whatever it is' in IF. They changed this cause lowbies complained everyone was attacked. Now only the lowbies are attacked. -_-

EDIT2: If I type fast, I have to edit :p

If it was an intended change, shouldn't it be in the patch notes?
IIRC I never saw anything about it, so it has to be some sort of bug?

Affects hunters as well. Feign Death fails to work on the guards. The guards can, in fact, aggro onto you even while you've feigned.

Sounds like a bug to me.

Yeah, that's the same issue. The element of feign death that makes them de-aggro, does not work.
Same with vanish, you go into stealth, but the de-aggro component does not work at all.

It should, but there are plenty of changes they don't announce. Their excuse is they can't just keep a thorough list of every change they made with a patch, but truth is ALL software projects are minutiously documented to the last minor detail - and if they ever say they don't, they'll be lying.

I'm absolutely sure this change was intentional, it's just they decided not to include it in any patch notes. I think this was modified with 3.0, because I was sneaking into cities and started noticing that and I thought at first it was the level of the guards. I reported this and was told it was because of the level difference (75 versus 70), which I of course never believed since this had never been a problem and it was still happening when blinding, running out of LoS, and vanishing.

I keep killing allies in cities (jumping into the trench in IF, over the water in SW), quite succesfully, guards being just a minor annoyance when you think you have all of them under control, you're safe, and one still runs for a few yards more, just enough to hit you, break stealth in front of a vendor, call another guard- dead in the end. It sucks when it happens, but just once in a while anyway.

Something like this, so specific, affecting city guards only, can't really be a bug. I've never seen a blue post about it, although many many threads (at least one of the first, mine), which is my only complaint. If they told me it was their decision I'd disagree, just like many others, but at least I wouldn't feel treated like an idiot ;)

No way in hell was it an intended change... Or how do you explain the fact that Shadowmeld still works fine on all guard? It takes a few moments after pressing Shadowmeld for the in-combat status to change into out-of-combat, but no guards have yet hit me out of Shadowmeld.

I had some great fun feral-ganking belfs in Silvermoon :)

Seal of Imba

Fills the paladin with the urge to roll his face across keyboard, granting each key a chance of instantly killing enemy. Unleashing this seal will cause the opponent to reroll paladin.

They don't say why it wasn't in pathnotes, or why they continue saying it isn't suposed to happen.

But a blue posted that it was an intended change.
(ofc, with the previous example of shadowmeld, the reason is bull@%@%)

Personally, I don't really see why people keep making Vanish threads and Vanish tickets.
After all this time, I thought it would've stopped....

Cause for me, annoying people by ganking them (especially in SW, IF...) is 90% of the reason I rolled a rogue
