Introduction

Hello! I’m Jerrod and this is my rogue, he was one of them I enjoyed levelling, but sometimes I grow bored of sitting in front of the screen repeating the same thing, and I know a lot have it the same way. I read constantly topics about how to make the experience of levelling better and more fun. So I decided to make this little guide, even you might find it stupid. I’m just telling my version of improving the fun in World of Warcraft.

Basic

Motivation is the key in this game, and it’s difficult for some to obtain, but there is a lot of ways to get it.

It’s also very good to have the will to play, and have the patient, World of Warcraft require a lot of that, and if you don’t have it, then it’s going to be a hell for you.

The first is basically you’re friends, these are very important for you and I’m sure that I’m not the first to tell you that. But it’s more fun, if you find some one you like or already know and join his Ts2 and have conversations about anything, you’re like to discuss and while you at it, you might find it more enjoyable to levelling when you have someone to talk with at the same time.

I know there are guilds in World of Warcraft, but it’s not always possible to talk in a channel with 25 players, while focusing on tanking Yogg-saron in Uldaur, I know for sure it’s not an easy task.

Therefore find someone you’re having it fun with or someone in “irl” so you can have a LAN-Party or you can also go to a LAN-Party and meet people there.

There is a lot of ways. So enjoy the game with your friends, I think it was meant to be that way.

Food

This might be funny to mention food to increase the fun in World of Warcraft, but actually is not. World of Wacraft takes your time, and it's not always you have time to make food.

When we sit and play World of Warcraft, we’re usually sitting with a Coke Cola or candy, it just a tradition or whatever. But I guess you all already know this, that it isn’t healthy, and how it make a fast process of energy and then remove more when your stomach is finish with obtaining it, and that also the reason to decrease the brain function and make you more tired. It may take this a bit over the edge, but it’s just good information to share with you.

That’s why you should instead eat a salad, banana or an apple, but not just that, it’s acceptable to eat candy there is nothing wrong with it and it’s not like I want you to be a super-nerd with extreme health to be able to level 3-days without sleep, no you’re mistaking something there. I’m just saying sometimes it’s good to eat some healthy because we all know that we’re going to play to 4 AM sometimes and then it is good to have a healthy body. You actually end up destroying your body with this routine of staying to 4 AM every time you're doing a raid or anything else related to World of Warcraft.

Interface Addon

QuestHelper is the first thing you’re should download to your interface, but that’s another thing I’m sure that you already have, I hope.

There are others Addon to make your screen more simple and organized and I recommend that, because if you’re disk looks like a mess, then clean it up, because based on what I read in school in psychology class;

“A Clean house is a clear mind.”

I’m not sure if that’s a housewife who wrote that, but I actually agreed with her, it is a very good way to clear your mind, so you can focus better.

Plan & Class

Now that you’re got QuestHelper, make a plan on how you’re going to play. Are you going to complete quest or do an instance?

If you’re doing quest, it pretty much say it self. But if you’re going to an instance, I recommend having your friends with you, on or more, because these days is impossible to gather a group, it is for me sometimes, when I’m levelling and I’m want to complete a quest in a instance, because I'm don't want the items, they useless until level 80 of course.
I also have to mention to set your playtime during the day, so no one can bother you, because that’s one thing to distract you from the game, and it can really upset you.

It’s also good to have knowledge about the class you’re playing.

For example:

I’m playing a 69 paladin, and my build is retribution. Many will say that paladin is a boring class and realms are full of them. They say that it’s only take three buttons to play a paladin.

Wrong! It’s depends the way you play, normally I take around 3 to 4 mobs using 4 to 6 buttons, and that’s only because of my build that allow me to do that, but hopefully this is already known information’s for some. So there are many styles of playing your class, taking 1 by 1 or the style I’m using.

So basically learn your class, explore it further and further every time you gain a level, and use it to its fully potential.

Other stuff

A few tips, if it’s get bored while playing, I will kindly ask you to take a 10 mins walk outside to clear your mind, and to get out the dark room and not mention to avoid square eyes, if you understand that. Or you could download Peggle and take a fun game of that, is a fun little game and it only take 5 mins to complete one or more challenge, and when you’re finish with that, go back to World of Warcraft.

There are a lot of stuffs that only take 5 mins, just do it if you need a break.

Warning!

Never buy power levelling, it will never going to be any good for you and Blizzard will find out, because if you didn’t know, Blizzard are allowed to check your ip-address. So they can see if someone is grinding in the same area and playing from Asian. Don’t believe me check the agreement licence, or else I'm pretty sure it they just can do it, and It’s impossible to avoid it, and I know from experience, because one time I was preparing for exam and didn’t have time for levelling and I was so stupid and desperate to order it!

So don’t do it, don’t either buy gold, it’s even more impossible to avoid from blizzard.

I will say thanks to those to find this free guide useful created by me (Jerrod).
I expect that many who didn’t read to the bottom-line of this guide will criticize this, and say that some of its wrong, suit for yourself, I’m only trying to help.

I posted this in newcomer because its more useful for them that it is for those who already is experienced.

Any thanks for those who say good. Good-speed, good luck, I really hope this helped even some of it might sound weird, but truths me it make sense.

BTW! I'm from denmark, so if any of it is spelled wrong or have grammar fault, don't tell me it, I know I'm not perfect, i just hope you understand it.

Well written and quite well compiled, too.

I would make a small disclaimer in the beginning of the interface section, though. Someone with a bit more roleplaying-like mindset probably won't like Questhelper one bit. I usually find a game good if it's immersive and (to a lesser extent) not a pipe-run. I wouldn't have liked anything like Questhelper during my first time leveling in the lands of Azeroth.

In fact, the bright red quest markings on the map were possibly the main reason why leveling in Warhammer Online became a chore very fast. You don't know how glad I am that I found WoW before they added the quest giver exclamation marks on maps, not to mention the sparkling glow around interactable quest objects.

Haha awesome guide ^_^ I actually always use you first tip, talking to friends. When you get to know your class a little you can almost play halfsleeping so you won't have to concentrate on how you're fighting and you can have a great time making friends and chatting with them.

I can see what you were trying too achieve with the Guide but I don't think it really worked.
Between the jumbled up layout and the extreme racial stereotyping at the end, I don't think you achieved what you sat out too achieve.

The way too have fun leveling is of course doing it with friends but you know what, if you don't find leveling fun then doesn't that tell you all you really need too know? ;s
I think there is a certain link that occurs between a player and his/her character (as sad as that sounds) but it's true, knowing that you spent that time leveling the character up, it is EXACTLY how you want it too be.

My only real advice for new players to WoW would be too level with a friend and play the game for fun, not for 80.

yes its a nice guide. good job. But sometime i enjoy to turn off quest helper becose it makes the game feel like grinding sometimes (even tho i read the quest).

But yes one of the best things to do while leveling is to talk to friends. Its even more fun if they are leveling with you and you are talking thro skype, ventrilo you name it.

Very nice guide, I like it. I can confirm from my experience that having a good guild to chat with while leveling is the best, nothing like that. In fact, this is my only level 80 and I joined a very good guild at level 6, which increased my will to play for the following 70 levels.

I must say that the guide is very helpful to keep in mind and read once in a while, just to remind on what to focus. I have a question to the OP, and the other players of course: what if you don't have friends playing WoW? Is it reliable to "choose" a so-called leveling/social guild and play? Is there any factor to keep in mind while looking for a guild of that kind? Thanks for the answers in advance!
