Hello everybody,

I know you are all not happy about retribution not being that bursty anymore in PvP. But my question is. How is paladin in PvE? Is it also crappy ?

In PvE, there are a few mana issues and global cooldown spam issues, largely due to the new 4sec Crusader Strike, but otherwise, PvE DPS looks good. Reasonably higher than on live.

pve = nice, pvp = no

I spent hours duelling on the PTR yesterday and today (on this character, in the gear I'm currently wearing aside from one of the trinkets). Most duels I had against high resillience premades were won fairly easily.

If it helps we will be lowering the mana cost in order to best match the new CD and output of the ability.

Sounds great. How about Art of War resetting cooldown on exorcism aswell? :)
If the patch goes live as it is now, nothing would have changed after all. Exorcism would still be instant after the 15sec cd is over anyway, and we would still stick to the FCFS system.

I died today in a Hoj stun.
0 ressilience though, but over 16k hp.
Clearly a very skilled ret pally.
The skill it takes to press 1-2-3-4 in under 5 sec is impressive.

Nerf paly!!

^ This, it's kinda pointless to have AoW proc an ability that's on a 15 sec CD, like Amphi said, that's still not much of a choice. From what I've seen so far, the new CS mostly just fills out those 1-2 GCDs that were empty every few FCFS rounds.

Why is that that dps classes(hybrids especially) dont have to care about their mana ?
I mean..
A paladin have technically endless mana, an arcane mage goes oom after a minute, an elemental shaman also dont having mana problems, moonkins have some, but 1 gcd to regen their mana...
I did never understand this.

To the paladin thingie, and to the guy asked about pvp:
I am sure the pve performance wont change that much, about the pvp part, i am pretty sure you'll stand a decent place in 3v3 and 5v5.

caster hybrids have to care about mana in the same way as mages do. Melee specs have resource management similar to other melee DPS, who can't run dry.

Why do warriors have constant rage, rogues having endless energy, deathknights having runes and runic power? Why would anyone want a DPS specc'd char that goes OOM all the time.

Because if we run out of mana, DPS stops happening?

Don't even try to come back and say 'Well healers stop healing when they go oom', because I am yet to see a healer go oom on a boss fight.

We do need more complexity in our combat system.
We also need more combat utility....especially in PvP. Ways to deal with casters/healer. Ways to clsoe the gap to our target. And so on.

There are several ways to do this.

Some of this goal can be achived by altering or amending existing spells.

If Judgements gave an immediate bonus, for example....then there'd be an incentive to switch between them.

If Seals mana cost was lowered, the disincentive to switch ebtween them would be gone.

Others would require new attacks or abilities, some of which would ideally be baseline to solve class wide problems.

Ideally, there'd also be a resource mechanic of some sort, taking Paladin combat away from mana and the need to balance things between high mana Holy and low mana Ret.
