Is it too late for me to get into the raiding circle? What do I need to do? I bought some BoEs but still plan to buff up with some HC gear (I'm healer, should be fast). But is it too late?

(I'm 78, NOT 61 btw).

It's not to late. Find people for heroics, do some pugs, get little gear buy some for emblems, crafted etc, and you should be able to find good guilds still farming Naxxramas on heroic

Yep it is not too late, and we may even have some incoming changes to enable you to get better raid gear even faster than you can currently.

I see you're a priest, and though I did spend probably more gold at the AH than necessary to gear up my 80 Priest, it is relatively straightfoward to get quite a few acceptable pieces of gear for entry level raiding if you look in the right places (quest rewards, heroic drops, reputation, crafting, auction house and now also Argent Tournament for example).

Fansites are often great sources of lists for pre-raid gear to aim for, but you can also try asking here on the Priest or Healing forum (or Damage Dealing if you're Shadow). Good luck :-)

I got to level 80 last week on this character and look at me now!

It`s never too late to start raiding. And raiding is the only thing worth doing in this game (imo).

Edit: Buying an epic flying mount at 77, levelling enchanting from scrath at 80 and crafting/buying the starter gear did drain all my gold though :( Literally, all of it...

It's most certainly not too late. First of all it is a good idea to read up on all the raid tactics so you're prepared to enter the raid instances without making a fool out of yourself. I dinged 80 last week myself and i've haven't done many heroics at all, i went straigth into Naxx/VoA/OS without much trouble.
Tell people that you dinged very recently and this is why you are poorly equipped but you know all the tactics and will use consumables to make up for your gear. This way you will eventually succeed in getting invited into some pug raids and as soon you get your raid achievements you will almost always get a spot as long you're a healer.

Well, if you wanna start raiding all you need to do is to gear up and work a rotation that gives you at least 2000 DPS by which you will be a productive raid DPS

/facepalm

Also, blue poster playing priest, obviously priest is the best class *grumbles*.

But seriously, I'll give you some tips I used on this priest. Geared this up from only pugs, didn't get help from guild etc.

1st. Lead raids. If you are the leader, you don't have to link achievement. You are the boss. Just read up on tactics beforehand.
2. VoA. It's hard to get into group if you dont have emalon achiev. Just say, you have it on your main. Might be dishonest, but hey, it get's you into the group.
3. BoE gear. There are some pieces that's really nice. Leggins of Lost Love > tier7, Jet'ze bell is great, etc. Expensive tho.
4. Professions. I had tailoring + mining, dropped mining and went JC for the extra gems / trinkets. Expensive as hell to level tho.

Oh, and to heal heroics. I found Discipline to be alot more enjoyable and easier to heal heroics as when I had lesser gear. Better Mana management, more absorbation, and Penance. You want Penance <3.

So yeah.. Good luck. I find gearing up chars really fun, thus this is my 3rd 80 ^_^

Asrial - 80 Paladin (wat) Azrial - 80 Shaman (Main) Holynips - 80 Priest (Sexmachine)

Fortunately priests are an awesome class and very sought after for both grouping and instances. The general opinion at the moment is that they are delivering the biggest healing punch in raids together with druids.

Try and find a friendly guild. There are still lots of guilds out there who are still doing 10 and 25 man Naxxramas runs and having loads of fun.

But first start doing normal versions of instances to learn the encounters building up to heroic versions. In general you shouldn't expect to be viable for Naxxramas until you have a certain base level of gear (At least full lvl 80 blue gear).

I had some great times healing on my priest. In my opinion its one of two jobs (healing and tanking) that require the most skill in WoW (Now im lazy so i play warlock) :)

Best of luck

Sry but its to late, ill give you the TRUTH and not false hope:

To get grp for heroics you need achivment for having done ulduar 25 with all bosses on hard mode. If you have 1 blue, JUST ONE ... you can forget about even joining the LFG channel in any way. You need a combined item level of 5000+ to set your foot inside a 10 man naxx or VoA. Enter dalaran pre-80 without Full T6 epics and a mob of elitist gamers with torches and pitchforks will hunt you down to crucify you alive and burn you to death digitally.

Im sorry to say it but the community has turned into a mob of elitists that:

1) Dont care about attitude , skill level , personality or previous experiences.... just that you have the achivments. (Wich proves NOTHING!)

2) Wont even give you a CHANSE to prove your worth if you have a single blue item cause 20 spellpower and 3MP5 of a difference from a epic upgrade is obviously deadly to the raid. (/sarcasm)

3) Dont accept failure in any way. A raid that could easily have done naxx with maybe 4-5 wipes, dispands after one wipe cause noone wants to earn their epics anymore.

Edit: And if you miraculously get a grp for naxx they just do it cause they need you to MC on razuvios. Dont think the cold, calculating heartless nerds are actually being nice cause they arent.

That is unfortunately true in cases of the realms population. Like in my realm you see brats asking for epic achievment for VoA 10! Especially great since those are the only ones without it.

It is never late for raids, it will only be more difficult than before since people will judge you from your achievments and {epic fail} achievment.
Do not get discouraged by some (or many) raid disbands, this will happen.

But if you find a guild that meets your playstyle then you shouldn't have problems with learning raiding and gearing yourself towards next steps.

I have pretty good gear on my Shaman from the Argent Tournament. My Priest and Paladin, both level 80 and ready for Heroics also have gear from the ARgent Tournament. This should not be forgotten if you want good gear for Heroics and raids.

Gear is easy. When I hit 80 on this one(rather late as it's my second 80). I crafted a lot of item and bought one more, and I was already cleared for the easier heroics withouth even stepping into normals. Not becouse I didn't wanted to bother with them, but becosue noone else wanted to go.

After 3 heroics and 2 drops I offtanked on the last boss in Naxx 25(one of their tanks left), and only died when the other OT died and I had to tank all 4 adds. ( the once that spawns at the end).

Now if I can TANK on the last boss in 25 man Naxx with 2 items from heroics, none from normal lvl 80 and none from quests in lvl 80 zones, it shouldn't be hard to get gear. You probably need to stay a bit in Naxx though, Even thoguh Naxx is a playgrind, Ulduar requires both skill and gear, and should be avoided by newly dinged 80ies.

What they're gonna do is prob make our emblems worth something again, so people can use it go gear up through.

It worked in TBC to let guilds that had progressed get new recruits despite the gearchecks in the latter tiers of raiding, and I can't see why they wouldn't go this route again.

It's definitely not too late. Be sure to do heroics to get good gear, and find a new guild that wants to start in Naxx (10 or 25 man). I myself went back to raiding after a break of a year, when TBC was already out a year. In the end we cleared up all of Black Temple, even as a guild that didn't raid more than 10 hours per week.

Good luck :)
