Just sat and watched the Warcraft III + expansion cinematics for a bit of nostalgia and found myself wondering how Blizz will play the Final Battle - will they kill him off and have done, or will they see him redeemed in the end? Or maybe both?

What do you guys want to see happen to Arthas? :D

I want him to marry me...but i doubt blizz will make it happen :(

neither.. he will run away and leave a chest of loot behind (which loots its self once you enter the instance ofc) otherwise the bads would cry ;(

I want him to die.

I want him to be 'cleansed' with a sound beating from tirion fordring, then his fathers ghost can come along all set for a happy reunion, but then the father rips his head and spine out and shouts 'fatality!' mortal kombat style.

then it could cut to a scene of a donut shop called dennys with everyone except arthas there, someone would tell a terrible joke and there would be a freeze frame of everyone laughing.

Id quite like to see the spirit of the Lich King and Arthas' link break and towards the end of the fight the only way to clense his soul is by helping you defeat the Lich King once and for all then die in a heroic manner.

Then it would slowly zoom out with the Happy Day's theme song.

He would turn good and be the great attraction in the house of horror in the local circus.

First I want to beat him down till he is half dead...
Then I shall break his legs... Rip off his toes one by one...
Smash his knees... Then to take an axe, chop off his hands from the wrists... Oh yes...
The next I would open his stomach and rip out his guts, feed them to him...
When it is all done, I would chop off his head, give it to my fellow raider and we could play baseball, oh yes the baseball...

I hope he slaughters us all :P He's the perfect evil guy, the guy that you almost want to succeed with his evil doings.

But he's also the classic example of a tragic hero. He will surely realise his mistakes in the end, just like Darth Vader. Getting his salvation in the end, but it will also be his end.

There's so much story around him, so they can't just let you kill him off like any random NPC. There has to be some trigger for his death, other than cold hard steel. I'm guessing it'll be some interference by Jaina Proudmoore, his love, or Tirion Fordring who makes him remember the Paladin he used to be, and the light and such. Or perhaps something regarding his father, I dunno. He has many weak points (shown by the little boy Mathhias Lehner), so it's just guessing which one of them will be his undoing, or if it will be all of them.

But Arthas' story is very cool. I really hope that Blizzard just pulls every man away from whatever they're doing, and then creates the most awesome, spectacular, and fitting ending for Arthas. He is so much Warcraft that it almost seems impossible for Blizzard to be able to create a worty ending to it. But if it's at all possible, I'm sure Blizzard are the ones that can do it :)

But I am expecting not only a raid encounter like nothing before, but also a story telling that will be unlike anything experienced before. Anything less will be a huge dissapointment.

I wonder more what my role in it will be. The leveling process in WotLK implies that Arthas is well aware of your existance and who you are, and has things planned for you, and such shizzle. So there's probably going to be some hook there I think. I don't think the players will just act as observers while the lore NPCs take the credit for it all (ala Illidan).

i bet there will be some cheesy end that Artys daddy will come and they will hug and cry and all is forgiven...

If you haven't read Arthas: Rise of the Lich King, then that gives a nice telling of how the spirit of Ner'Zhul and Arthas goes togeather. I won't spoil it in case you haven't read it, but there's a cool twist to it that sort of unifies exactly who The Lich King's personality(ies) is.

if the lich king dies when arthas might become human again, and they will lock him in the prison in stormwind that hasn't opened yet....

He's one of the biggest mass muderers ever seen.
He wants all who are still alive (including us)dead.
And even after he kills us he wants to enslave us.

So what else can we do but to blow him off this world.
Not in the last place because THERE IS NOTTING LEFT TO REDEEM!

Redemption for Arthas is out of the question considering Tirion himself said he was hopeless. It's probably going to end with Darion shoving the Ashbringer through his chest and him dying cursing our names.

I'm not sure what role Muradin is going to play in Arthas' downfall, he's a strong dwarf but not that strong. He'll likely play an Akama role and hold off the unseen hordes of zombies while you deal with Arthas.

I want Mal'Ganis to creep up behind him and flick the "Lich King's 'Off Button' Switch" that the Legion installed when they reforged Ner'zhul. Said button may or may not be a metaphor for a code word, particular enchantment or spell or perhaps vulnerability to the colour pink.

Mal'Ganis will then stroke his crazy side-burns and muse to the raid about the importance of good facial hair if you're going to be a successful evil-doer. Clean-shaven Arthas had no chance.

Pretty much this. There's only one way this can end, and it's with death and tragedy. It's just a matter of who or what Arthas takes with him.
Since the Lich King was originally a creation of the Burning Legion that later went rogue, it'll be interesting to see if they have any influence on the final battle.
