When the next major content patch launches we will be introducing epic quality gems and updating the perks for each profession. Please keep in mind that any of this information may see further changes before the patch launches.

The design recipes for cutting epic gems will be made available for purchase with Dalaran Jewelcrafter’s Tokens and there are several ways to obtain raw epic gems:
  • Prospecting Titanium Ore
  • Alchemy transmutations
  • Purchased with Honor
  • Purchased with Emblems of Heroism

Coinciding with the implementation of epic gems and the gain that Blacksmiths will receive through their perk from these new gems, we have gone through all of the perks in every profession and increased their values to match up accordingly.

Alchemy
  • The Mixology benefits from Northrend elixirs and flasks have been increased
  • Added a new pattern for Flask of the North, usable by players with a high alchemy skill. The recipe is purchased from the honor potion vendor. The Flask of the North increases your spell power, attack power, or Strength for 1 hour, and is usable in arenas. It is not consumed when used.
  • Endless Healing Potion and Endless Mana Potion no longer usable in arenas. Amount of health and mana has been increased, and the cooldown reduced. They are still usable everywhere else.

Blacksmithing
  • No changes will be made to this profession; it will continue to have the 2 additional prismatic sockets (which can hold the new epic gems)

Enchanting
  • Values on Northrend ring enchants increased

Engineering
  • Increased benefits from Hyperspeed Accelerators, Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket, and Reticulated Armor Webbing glove modifications

Herbalism
  • Increased healing from Lifeblood (Rank 6)
  • Lifeblood now scales slightly with maximum health
  • Lifeblood no longer affected by global cooldown

Inscription
  • Master's Inscriptions increased

Jewelcrafting
  • Dragon's Eye gems stat bonuses increased

Leatherworking
  • Fur Lining values increased

Mining
  • Toughness (Rank 6) provides more Stamina

Skinning
  • Master of Anatomy (Rank 6) provides more critical strike rating

Tailoring
  • Embroideries improved

Yeey!
Blacksmiths get to buy epic gems as an improvement to their perk, where every other profession gets their perk buffed for free. It just means that Blacksmiths HAVE to buy epic gems to stay competative, where other proffessions get a boost without investing any mats/gold/time/anything.
i.e. Stamina increases for maxed Mining just happens over patch night, but to increase the stamina in a Blacksmith socket, it requires re-gemming with undoubtable expensive gems.

Suggestion:
All professions can unlock the extra perks through their profession trainer
i.e. a Blacksmith can learn "Epic Socket Bracer" and "Epic Socket Gloves", a Jewelcrafter needs to learn new recipies, an Enchanter needs new recipies for ring enchants, a Herbalist must pay a fee to unlock the newer Lifebloom spell, etc.

Looking good! only thing i'd like to bring up is that JC has ALOT more effort needed to learn new recipes, i mean one token per day? that's nuts it took me 6 days to learn one thing and found out it needed 4 dragon's eyes which took me another four days to get bearing in mind auction prices are just too nasty to buy.

Thats the only bone i have to pick with the JC system, maybe give us a chance to get dragon's eye from ore?

Changes gonna be great :)

I would like to see other changes to inscription for example, for a starter glyphs are so cheap to make you wont earn anything by putting em on AH, as people tend to not change glyphs that often enough that it's worth it. the shoulder enchant is nice, but why not make vellum belt so we can like sell belt enchants
so we got something else than provide Cards just to sell.

in a profession I see it as an income source as well as your own benefits, atm insctiption gives way to little
gold in return, and you need alot of luck to get nobles cards (wich btw is almost the only cards that sells)

sure but you must seen this outcome when you introduced glyphs?? atm glyphs are at 1-8g per glyph
wich like sell 1 per day, so about 1-8g earned gold a day by just making glyphs, if im _Lucky_ enough
I get nobles cards wich sells about 500-1000g each, about 5-7k gold a noble deck, if im Unlucky
I get prism, chaos etc wich sells for about 25g per card... wich I would I earned more by selling the herbs
or the mats, so other professions creates something specific wich does sell, like BS, LW, Tailor, Enchanting mats (or enchants on AH by getting vellums wich also are cheap) and that's no luck that's pure statisticly more gold earned each day, and even alot more even if they sell 1 item a week.

So I figure, have I missed something? why did you introduce insctipion? why not just have a vendor selling glyphs? we got no recipies that drops, not much to give the mass in longterm.

SO question! : What are your plans with profession almost being an useless profession? for shoulder enchant only?!

Or at least have the other profession re-enchant their gear with the new improved versions. Blacksmithing is already the only profession that relies on a second profession to get anything out of it's bonuses. Why kick us while we're down?

hehe. Joke aside.

Well. Sad to see there's no "Enchant trinket with some useful stats" for the engineers, but I can wait. It will come sooner or later. Maybe in another expantion, but I can wait.

Not cool :(.

I currently have on my bankalt approx 200 bars of Titanium because Blizzard has never made this kind of prospecting change for Jewelcrafters.

I suppose i COULD try and swap them for ores, but hm..
