0. Cross-Language Battlegroups are here! 27/05/2009 01:48:13 PDT

After successful testing on the PTR, we are pleased to announce that the first Cross-Language Battlegroups have been created. This new feature combines Battlegroups from different languages into one, expanding the pool of players keen for PvP action in both Arenas and Battlegrounds.

Players from realms of different languages will only ever face each other as opponents in battle and will not be playing on the same faction in Battlegrounds, ensuring that those playing on your side will speak the same language as you.

Please note that not all Battlegroups will be joined into Cross-Language Battlegroups, and this feature will not be affecting the Russian language Battlegroups. Please see below for a full list.

Ahh I just hope Vindication or Misery will get one.. I play on both and both have long queues.. Well I can't say how is Misery at max lvl tho. Anyways. Peeps from Nightfall please post has the situation improved now? :)

I play on Vindication fron day 1 and ques still blow you away. More of it, after u enter, its like 15 allies vs 5 horde or viceversa, hence honor farming is a pain in the $^%. AV ques were over 30 min so lots of ally players stopped playing it and concentrated on the others. Horde got fat farming 5 allies in AV so now if it happens that the numbers a equal, they lose badly.
Misery ques at 80 are quite fine because as it is, Misery is one of the biggest battle groups, so i dont think its gonna be merged with anything else.

PS Merge Vindication with some other BG, there was a time when we played with russian players for a week or so if i remember correctly.

They are not balancing PVP, they just shift the balance.

i play on bloodlust and queues at 80 are really fast tbh apart from AV but WSG AB and SoTA are less than 1 minute sometimes WSG ones are instant ;)

The problem with this type of merge is that it doesn't fix all of the core issues here. Queue times will obviously go down, but faction imbalance will still affect the lower pop adversely: Let's say there are 120 allies and 100 horde queuing for AV.
- The first 2 AVs will start 40v40, yay.
- The third will start 40v20, and reaches equal numbers only when an existing AV ends.
- The fourth AV will then start with 40v20 until.. and so forth.
Subsequently, the lower pop faction will start with equal numbers only if more than one AV ends before a new one starts, but the next one will again be imbalanced for the first minutes. Horde always starts def; tenacity; numbers; Would it really have been so terrible in terms of queue times, which on average would still have dropped, to revert the queuing system back to force balanced (more) numbers at the start?

Vindication battlegroup needs a merge bad. The battlegrounds have been disaster for months now and AV is completely under horde control since it always starts 40 horde vs 10 alliance.

So hang on, you're not merging the smallest battlegroup, Ruin?!

Three out of four of my level 80 characters are on Scarshield Legion, which is stuck in crappy old Ruin. I was really looking forward to a merge, so I could finally get BGs during the night when there are litteraly ZERO battlegrounds available.

This is outrageous, I can't believe after all this time Blizzard isn't even including Ruin in the first cross language battlegroups. Words can not express my disappointment right now.

BUT wtf bliz are you racists or?
Im just curious why cant you apply that feature into russian servers?
Seems like you just grabbed all that "trash-players" into russian servers and now we are being skipped by all-new features.

Did you think this through ?

I dont see how this will enable people to more easily get into BGs

In fact, it will be harder now for the larger of the 2 combined battlegroups to get into a BG

Lets say the battlegroup "Funky" with its 15 realms got combined with the battlegroup "Groovy" and its 7 realms
Each side can consist of people only from 1 of the battlegroups
So player A from Funky starts queueing
Prior to the battlegroup merge, he would have 15 realms for opponents to be initially seeded from, now he has 22
So the first opponent he gets seeded with is from the Groovy battlegroup, and suddenly he only has 7 realms he can be seeded with. Not a scenario that will increase BG availability...
If the first opponent he gets seeded with is from his own battlegroup, then nothing has changed from the previous way

So all this means is that the only outcome of this is that BG queueing gets WORSE for the bigger battlegroup, (though better for the smaller one)

Im still not sure i see the point though

Because russian players and such use a different language pack, we EU players can't play on RU realms either, while I can on French.

Blizz would probably have to give us patches or stuff, and that's a lot of 'work'
