0. Changes to Items with Stealth Detection 15/05/2009 12:22:52 PDT
We recently made some changes to items that grant stealth detection. We felt these items provided a necessary advantage in competitive PVP and forced players to use lower level equipment even when more powerful items were available to them.
This item can no longer be used in the Arena:
Ultra-Spectropic Detection Goggles
We have removed stealth detection from the following items:
All epic engineering goggles
We have reduced the stealth detection of the following items:
Catseye Ultra Goggles
Blood Guard's Dragonhide Gauntlets
Marshal's Dragonhide Gauntlets
Knight-Lieutenant's Dragonhide Gloves
General's Dragonhide Gloves
Bloodvine Lens
Knight-Lieutenant's Dragonhide Grips
Blood Guard's Dragonhide Grips
The Night Watchman
All of these changes are already active and the tooltips will be updated with the next minor patch.

Was the stealth detection taken into account when calculating the stats on the engineering goggles and if so...will they see an increase in stats (e.g. haste) so that they remain comparable to other item level 200 head gear ?
Will the human stealth detection racial also be removed (similar to how stoneform was nerfed because of pvp) ?

This feels like another engineering nerf. While I understand this isn't the reason you made the change to the goggles, I do feel like engineering is becoming less useful when you compare them to other professions.
The other professions have these unique enchants wich are far better then normal enchants while engineering has some enchants, they are not better then the normal enchants.
To solve this, I would suggest making the engineer enchants stack with normal enchants for example. As a raider I can't use any of the cool engineering enchants because normal enchants are just far more useful. I would just love to bring my Hand-Mounted Pyro Rocket to raids.
So I ask:
Are there any plans to improve engineering in any way?

this is just awesome.. ever since tbc came engineering was like "bah" except for the roflcopter, in vanilla u could have atleast had some fun with it, with all the unique items there we're, like the mind control cap and stuff, everything was usefull for both bg's and world pvp.. but now ? heh even that one thing that was good is getting nerfed..
Looking For Moar Serbians! /w me ingame.. Cevapi FTW

Q u o t e: We felt these items provided a necessary advantage in competitive PVP and forced players to use lower level equipment even when more powerful items were available to them.
um doesn't this reflect more on how players felt the NEED to have a CHANCE to see stealthed players regardless of whether the items were inferior to available gear, and given they are losing a lot of stats for some of those items.
shouldn't they be allowed the choice? or higher level pvp gear with the same amount of stealth detection be made available to them for honour/ arena points?
given these items were budgeted with the detection in mind will their stats be adjusted?
also hows that profession review going? been waiting for some love for about 2 years now...

I dont really see why you put so much in nerfing engineering... it not like you have to start over to lvl a new char for getting a racial, its a proffesion. you can basicly just click "Unlearn" and take engineering? this is not fair, you have even removed the stealth detection on the goggles.... you even made the Gnomish LIghtning Generater share cd with rocket gloves.......
For ages humans have been overpowered with the old preception which, i dunno how to say it but it !%!*ed up my rogues chances against humans but then i took up engineering, which helped me alot but now where you are removing all the good things about it whats the point? herbalist have their Lifeblood in arena, we engineers dont go QQ'ing about that? miners have 50 more stamina, 500 more health, or even if you have talents that increases your total stamina its more ofc, we dont go whining about that. To be honest why cant we just have the things ppl chose their proffesion back? and as said above, EVERY one can just take up engineering... it costs time and hardwork, but you can still do, the only reason why pp with other proffesions go crying about ours is because they cba taking engineering up...

Imho The Engineering Prof nerf was good in some reason and very bad in some other reasons
Engineering was one of the best Profs for PVP and now engineering sucks, a lot of people are changing this prof now i think blizzards must do something to make This proffesions more useful

Kind of silly thing to compare to, considering Herbalism and Mining are both GATHERING professions.
