Stoneclaw glyph - One of the best things that came with 3.1 for shamans. I love the fact you can drop it while silenced and it absorbs damage on you!

Stoneclaw glyph was basically the only good change for Enh that came in the patch, so USE IT, other changes were minimal/did not address the big problems. Considering that patch was meant to be a big one for Enh and Ele I feel blizz did a piss poor attempt.

Well..the 10% stam helped a little bit..the Frostband change helps in PvP dmg but it is often displled or enemies are immune or it simply DOESN`T PROC..the Stoneclaw glyphs was the best thing that happened in years :D

What i find lacking is Maelstrom..it gets stuck on 4 stacks 80% of the times..it is really hard to stack it in PvP since your enemies move and avoid being hit= no maelstrom stacks=> fall in DMG uttility and Survival..were WAY 2 dependand on hiting enemies constantly and we can`t do it right ;(

Also..Earthren power ROCKs..i love the new change :D

Enhancement PVE build tips

Weapon speed
Weapon speed is one of the most basic topics for enhancement shaman's dmg output.
Before patch 3.1 , Enhancement Shamans used fast OH weapon because of the flat spell damage coefficiency on flametongue enchant (practically meaning that the damage difference of flametongue attack in slow and fast weapons was small, therefore when picking a VERY fast OH , the damage increased significantly since you attack much faster). Now this coefficiency was nerfed and therefore the dmg output of fast and slow OH is "simillar" (not same but simillar). The thing is , that when comparing 2 off-hand weapons of same speed, the slow weapon will eventually end up doing more dmg . Here is the thinking behind it.
1)Maelstrom Weapon is based on ppm (procs per minute) . So you dont benefit from fast weapons like most people think
2)Flametongue attack was nerfed . You benefit from faster weapons *especially if improved scorch debuff is kept on the boss*, but much less than before.
3)Lightning shield orbs have 6% chance to dmg your target. That means that with a fast weapon, you will end up gaining around 100-200 dps (numbers are real but made with hasty calculations)
4)StormStrike and Lava lash together are 20-22% of your dmg. As the dmg output is based on pure weapon DAMAGE and NOT DPS. As you can easily guess those 2 abilities are in BIG favor of slow weapons. If we take in consideration the enhancement t8 set bonuses, Slow weapons are even more prefered.
5) Depending on your gear and gemming, chose your weapons. Armor penetration (which sucks for enhancement since half your dmg is spells ,unaffected by armor pen.) and haste rating are in big favor of Slow weapons due to game mechanics. If u focus purelly on AP, fast weapon is favored. Your hits are gonna get Stronger ,and the spell dmg you will cause is going to get increased (due to the 30% coefficiency of AP to spell power).

Conclusion
If you take the time and do the math above, Slow weapons are slightly superion. The problem is , that since blizzard has stated "enh shamans should move towards Slow/Slow weapon choices" The best Slow OH in the game (from the current loot tables) drops From Thorim HC, while fast Off hand weapons with the same dps are much easier to acquire , from earlier , easier bosses (even ulduar 10 man).

If you dislike a class' mechanics so much that you wished they worked totally differently, it's possible you are playing the wrong class. :)

Had the same problem.

I used to go dual-wield for PVP as well, for some reason I PVP maelstrom procs were a lot less than PVE ones, generally I was dying before I could cast a single heal on myself.

Now trying 2h-windfury burst in PVP, assumption should be I would have even less maelstrom procs, but I can barely cast a heal in 2-3 minutes or so.

Hitting someone is always painful in PVP, also since you don't have that many buffs on you like you are raiding, you get very little amount of maelstrom procs.

Solution:
Reduce the proc chance of Maelstrom from melee attacks and add spells can also trigger the effect.

I don't know the maths behind it, but if it can be tweaked right, we will probably see a decent proc rate in pvp and pve. It's too much RNG this way.

When it came out, i grabbed the earth shield glyph right away, very useful, i remember my max with earth shield after that being 4.9k. If you think about it, you should expect say, roughly 3k healing for each charge, so 30k overall, + glyph is another 6k healing. Defo worth it imo, could be wrong, but i like it =P

Earth shield procs have an internal cooldown and most of the time it overheals only.

So it's not really worth it, but since there are no other usefull ones.

If I would get one gold for every facerolling Death Knight, then I would now be rich.

Because "Secrets of Ulduar" refers to patch name, not Ulduar dungeon?

how exactly do you reckong a reactive heal to be "mostly overhealing" ?
it heals when your tank gets hit, which from my experience in raids tends to be well over 10k/swing

How on earth, can a three second horror-effect make that much of a difference? -Scatex

for Enhancement shamans:

  • Return Rockbiter Weapon: Imbue the Shaman's weapon, increasing its damage per second by 30 on last rank or increasing agilitiy by 200 on main hand weapon.

  • Remove Windfury Weapon and give new ability - Windfury Strike: instantly attack from main hand weapon equal to two extra attacks with 1000 extra attack power, which does Nature damage and can not be resist. Cooldown 7 sec.

  • Let`s totems to levitate and follow to shaman. Increase ranges Strength of Earth Totem and Mana Spring Totem by 100 yards.

  • Shamanistic Rage must also: Removes all movement impairing effects and all effects which cause loss of control of your character.

  • Let`s Purge to be on own GCD (don`t touch GCD of shocks, SS and LL).

  • Redesign Sentry Totem: Put on the ground Sentry Totem which exposes all hidden and invisible enemies within 10 yards of the targeted area for 20 sec. This totem can not be follow to shaman. Cooldown 20 sec.

  • Improved Ghost Wolf : Reduces the cast time of your Ghost Wolf spell by 2 sec. and also protects the caster from Polymorph effects. The act of shapeshifting frees the caster of Polymorph and Movement Impairing effects. Cost 13% of Base Mana.

  • Add new glyph which will reduce cooldown of Feral Spirit by 1 min.

  • Sorry for my English.

P.S. if someone can, please, post this on US shaman`s forum.

well must say the lil bit i been in ulduar as elemental
new bosses that gives debuffs for shaman forcing em to move away from party members is pita
as elemental have only 1 instant cast spell .. if and when you get debuffed few times in row ( happened few times to me ) your DPS is way too low .as we allready have to *waste* time by dropping correct totems then we have to waste time by running like headless chikens .. thats why im thinking that ulduar is not made for elemental as they cant move and fight same time . unlike enchantment that can run around and melee everything

    Elemental:
Improved EB totem is pretty sexy. Saved our add kiter's butt on Gluth the other day. I would not have spent talent points on that alone, but since it comes together with something that helps dps, it is nice to have.

The new elemental mastery is not really doing it for me. The longer buff duration was better for PvE. The instant cast, while it has uses in the new content with all the moving about simply have too long CD to be adding any significant compensation for almost all our damage spells being with casttime.

    Resto:
Glyph of earth shield and glyph of lesser healing wave makes MT healing a lot easier. I do not PvP much, but I could imagine that it makes survivability in PvP much better as well (for the shaman himself, but also for team mates).

    Common Shaman observations:
With only a few instant casts (this is valid for both elemental and resto playstyles) shamans are very vulnerable to moving around. Quite a lot of the new encounters require a lot of moving, so while the talents and gear might not have nerfed the shaman, the design of the encounters did.

I gotta agree with Cavèn - enchantment shamans have an ez'er time in ulduar ..... w8 .. wtf .. can't you spell ENHANCEMENT ?

this is a lil' joke of a topic .. .. if it wasn't a blue posting it, it would have been forgotten by now by all the community

back on topic : I find it a bit more difficult to keep up as healer - priests rly dominate ( PoH+CoH = WIn imo ) ... but this is a big discussion on the "healers forum"
