“Retribution Paladin PvP Guide”

Introduction:
WoW Version 3.1.1

Hello I like to welcome you first to this Topic "Most advanced Retri Pally PvP guide" This Guide will include every little bit about fighting every class.
It’s still in stage 1 (General Info)

First please do mind I am not English so there are some miss types or whatsoever.

I was litterly shocked how people get kicked ass by another class while they play "paladin"
So therefore a guide to the Class "Paladin" please do mind this only contains tips for PvP and thus not for PvE.

Now we got that covered let’s get to business. Please note that this Guide to Awesomeness is for Level 80 and the Skill Introduction & Rotation is my opinion and of course I am open for suggestions.

Skill Introduction & Rotation

Seal of Command

This seal will proc around 7 times a minute so enough for PvP.
I mainly use this Seal with the Seal of Command glyph with this Glyph you will be able to get 1.4 more procs out of your SoC(Seal of Command)

Sacred Shield

Keep this spell up all the time as it will absorb more damage than it says.
Actually it will absorb any full attack when procced!

Repentance (Opening)
This Skill is acquired in the Talent tree “Retribution”, this Skill is my opening
    line.

With this Skill you can trigger people to activate their “Medallion of the Alliance/Horde”
This “Trinket” will allow the player to remove all movement impairing effects and actions that makes you lose control of the players character.
If they break your Repentance before you were able to Judge them you could use and I strongly advise you to do it, use Hammer of Justice.

      What if Repentance?
You critted with Crusader Strike/Judgement/Divine Storm and Righteous Vengeance triggers and I want to use Repentance? Well I am always used to use Repentance in the first seconds of the battle
and follow by Judgement but if Righteous Vengeance triggers and you follow by Repentance please mind this effect can be broken by this talent. (I do not know yet if this is being fixed / changed since last patches) Try to avoid Repentance and try Hammer of Justice.

    Judgement (Of Light)
Everyone knows this skill and it’s the backbone of the Paladin.
I use this first on my Combat Rotation when Repentance is on Cooldown.

This will judge your enemy and do damage according to your
      Spellpower / Attackpower / Seal

        Tip:
Try to Repentance and Judge wait one second and Hammer of Justice followed by Judge again.(2 Crits I assure you)

    2.Crusader Strike

I have this one as second in my rotation it’s an extra swing and handy one.
If you use of Seal Command and you will Crit Crusader Strike most likely your Seal of Command’s extra swing will crit too and your normal melee too. This happened to me everytime I critted with Crusader Strike don’t know if it’s also according the battlesystem.

        Tip:
Try Seal of Command with Crusader Strike it’s very awesome when it procs!
        Seal’s Swing 2600:
        Normal Swing:2400
        Crusader Strike:2700
        Total: 7700 Damage
This happens with me if I crit Crusader Strike and my Seal procs!! 3 Swings in one button!

    3.Divine Storm

Well I use this skill as third in my Skill Rotation.
This also an extra swing that can proc your Seal of Command but this ability also damages 4 targets around you.

        Tip:
I highly advise you to really use this skill even though it cost 12% base mana.
Especcially when there are a lot of people around you, use this skill to gain The Art of War as it procs with Divine Storm you can instant Flash of Light yourself

    4.Hammer of Justice

Hammer of Justice is important to keep your Burst Damage up.
Most of the time I wait for him/her to use their Trinket on Repentance or if I already know that they had used their Trinket recently.

      I f he/she used his/her trinket recently I cast Hammer of Justice.
Then there is no way out of it!

        Tip:
When you are fighting paladins make sure they trigger their Hands of Freedom first before using Hammer of Justice else it is thrown away.

        [ul]Tip2:
To get maximum damage out of your stun, stand behind your target to increase damage done.

4. Consecration

This is our AoE( Area of Effect).
I found this a rare used skill, although handy for fighting Rogues/Druids.
It can be used if you used as extra damage but it’s really Mana consuming.
You can do it if you fight with Judgement of Wisdom to get extra Mana back.

More Tips:

    1. Use Judgement of Justice on rogues, Judgement of Light would not help very much due to the healing decreasing effects. Judgement of Wisdom isn’t very useful either because the battle won’t last long

    2. For Mages, Speed is the important part. When you are in Repentance range use it!
When you get close it will Frost Nova. click Might away and use Hand of Freedom and rebuff Might so the mage will not spellsteal Hand of Freedom first
    .
    3. Watch out for Warriors since they have Shattering Throw now that will remove your Divine Shield(also referred as Bubble). Try to use Divine Protection so the Warrior will not immediately know that you used a Bubble.

i would say its a pretty nice guide to people that are new to ret palas.
but i would like to see some more info about for example cleanse (important pvp spell), hand of reckoning, hand of sacrifice and other spells u didnt mention that might be handy in pvp.

Also the repentance part, on some classes its actually really good to open with repentance, Well not OPEN, but after a few sec in combat, cause for sure they`ll wait for ur Hoj to they can trinket, and they`d get surprised that u use repentance.
but this depends a bit what situation and what class / specc it is, cause sometimes u wanna save rep for heal / catch up.

I propably didn't really told it as i used it i don't really open with it too
but about 2-4 secs after battle so they might use their trinket and i follow with HoJ

but as i said in the guide this is just some basic information so yea good to new ret pala's

I will slowly build this up, nice and clearly so almost everyone can benefit from it..

I will also post seperate class post so people who have a hard time with a class can find this without searching too much,

thanks for your feedback..

If I'm right they removed the PPM function of Command with 3.0. But either way, Seal of Command is garbage... even for PvP just go with Blood even with the judgement nerf. There's nothing I hated more about SoC in TBC than waiting on a Proc that may not even happen when you need it.

Sorry but your repeteance tactic fails, simply cause people wont trinket it out if you use it at very start ( before you even get vengeance stack 3 up lol ). And you wont burst down the other non cc'ed target if he has some resi and cooldowns, so the healer wich you most likely repeteance or dps can just take the full duraction or gets dispelled.

Most of my opponents use trinket on first hoj, i dont mind it cause i have it improved so i can burst again before their trinket gets ready

Repeteance is very situational spells, i found it it has three main functions
1. CC one to burst another, if you CC healer then its obvious that you have to burst down dps fast or let your partner to do next CC. Or CC dps and burst healer so the dps cant interrupt your burst rotation with CC ( fear, sheep, stuns ect )
Also theres no point to use on burst when you dont have all three main burst abilites ready ( CS,DS, judgment + wings preferably)

2. Repeteance as defensive ability : if your mate gets bursted its wise to use it on burster to ruin their burst, it gives nice time to recover and lick your wounds.

3.Repetance as charge: mostly good against mage or hunter just to get into melee range against em, i rarely use it for that tough.

As for seals its not wise to use soc all the time in long fights cause then your burst fades if you spend your pros in long terms of fight. Use sob to keep up the preassure and to refresh soc procs cooldowns.Use soc to burst when target is stunned

usually i use repetance to cc healer on arena

example. i open with judement+hoj(and here healers trinket) then as i play with hunter when dps gots less hp than 60% then i repetance healer and HoJ to dps then use avenging wrath and my ap trinket and Full nuke with hunter and dps is down.. It works

Ok..... From the moment i ve seen the SoC mentioned as your pvp seal i loled so hard...

Lets say that all your 8 procs are critical right? 8x3000(an average on people with about 700res)=24k dmg in 1 min.

Lets see SoB now , which happens!! to never crit in that min! In 60 secs u cr 10 times , u ds 6 and melee 16 times. All this hits trigger SoB with an average of 1200 dmg x 32 hits=38.4k dmg .

Righteous Vengeance as a talent also is just a waste of talent points , its pvp mate , ppl have res which reduces ur chance to crit , so u shouldnt be counting on that at all and also ur crit dmg is reduced by res reducing ur Rv dmg and dot dmg is also reduced by res + it messes up cc rotation most of the time...

Repentance, its a tool its not an 100% crit SoC judge ... If u wanna use it to add to ur dps that much the simplest way is this : Stun , Ds , Cr , Judge , silence (if Belf) , Cr , Repentance and u simply w8 for another full rotation which is up before repentance runs out.

Lets see , what else
spellsteal doesnt take off u r 1st buff , its completely random

warrior teams u shouldnt have to bubble against em really u r 1 of the worst counters for em... the tip about divine protection 1st so the warrior wont know that u used a bubble , LOL

Just some major flaws mentioned not to have ppl new in ret reading this and actually following it...

Gl with ur gladiator tittle this season btw !!!

I suppose it looks alright so far, but not detailed enough. I suggest going a little further in explaining the things you talk about in your post.

Besides that, you don't talk about Judgement of Justice at all, eventhough this is such an important skill. Basically it removes the opponents chances to get away from you (some exceptions ofcourse). I highly recommend going over this talent aswell.

You don't go over any healing either. Retribution paladins might be mainly dps, but in alot of situations you're better of healing yourself during a HoJ (hoping it doesn't get trinketed or anything similair) then to proceed dps.

PS: Skip righteous vengeance, especially in arenas your repentance can save lives.
