Welcome to the Hunter information portal! Within this thread you will find a collection of useful links, guides and informational references for the Hunter class.

If you have any guides or links you know to be of use for the Hunters of the world, be sure to let us know in this thread so we can include it in the list!

Our aim is to keep this as a catalogue of information for the most up to date version of World of Warcraft, and we will do all we can to ensure the links included remain as fresh as possible. Be sure to let us know here, or by reporting it for ‘Sticky Request’ using the Biohazard symbol on the post in question, if a thread could be used in our collection of guides or if a link is no longer suitable for the current game version.

Lol

hunters get nerfed to oblivion and then you nerf the collection of great threads that once was in here, gj why not remove hunters completely?

seems like the cm taking care of hunterforums only know one spec since theres no threads anymore explaining the other 2.

I bet all the new customers rolling a hunter will be amazed with the versatility they can level these days, obviously only survival as theres no link for mm or bm, gj, bye bye hunter rerolling dk, i know theres too many but really why stay with a class that only get worse by the patches and a narrowminded forum cm.

Here i was looking gor a good levelling spec, i come to this thread where there used to be several links to good levelling builds, now all i get i a link to a petsite everybody and his mother can find on google in 2 secs and 2 raiding guides, BOTH covering survival.

RIP hunters, i might aswell go with the crowd and roll a stupid dk

My hunter enchantment guide (updated for wotlk)

Edit: Fedtmule, you did notice that blizzard cleared the stickies in all the class sections because 99% of them were out of date since wotlk?

We do have a deadzone, 35 (or 41) yards and beyond, you have nearly the whole realm to stand in safely, but noooo, you want our little 35 yard circle, greedy bugger.

Been looking at some of the builds posted. Seems they go up until 79, so I guess the remaining point isn't a big difference, wherever you put it. Another thing I've noticed is that explosive shot is not taken, which makes me think it doen't belong to the shot rotation. Are those 2 assumptions correct or am I missing something here?

Mineria's guide hasn't been updated for 3.1, thus the talent builds are wrong. Explosive shot and black arrow are a major part of survival dps.

Thank you for pointing that out. Could you perhaps do me another favor and direct me to an optimal raiding build sample?

doodlessz there are some things that confuse me about ur spec i can see some good point but the lack of trap mastery 30% more periodic dmg to black arrow also the points for its reduced cool dwn. these seem important as u use black arrow as ur main way to proc l&l in pve also is that proc crit increase talent any good never noticed much of change in my crits other than that spec seems fine to me, i would like to ask about rotations though as surv i found es and ss are main one but found it awkward to fit in aimed because of the longer cd but thought the increase dmg to attks would be nice ? ay suggestions welcome.

Till when will Bm Hunters be such a weak link in game? I ask becouse i have Bm hunter in Burning Blade completly pvp geared with Loque'nahak and Gondria. Even just a little geared Paladin can kill my pet and me, without me takeing even half a health from him. Whs is this alowed? Tell me how will my Loque's and Gondria's peciall attack help mekill paladin? their Spirit Strike deals: 49-69 damage on hit and 49.69 damage over few secs, Their damage is 450-590 and when fighteing paladins dk's and druids just their aura is enough tokill SPECIAL RARE ELITE PETS. What chance i have against those classes when me as pvp geared Bm Hunter with 750 ressiliance when i suffer Locks and paladins crit hits of 9k -14k damage? And dont tell me its impossible, i have that printed. Till when hunters will be such screwed that we will get kicked out of raids becouse with good ranged weapon(only arena bow is better than i have) cantpass 1.3-1,5 dps?. Do you really think that is makeing classes eqqual? hahaha a joke right? Why is there no lvl 80 ammo? And i hear its not even in plan to be made,
And btw i am pvp player and i doubt there are many paladins with better skill in pvp than me, but even a ttotoal numbs playing paladins can kil hunter every boody time. I had one paladin i created before that joke of WOTLK came, and i dont play it anymore becouse it make me sick.
My name in Game is Anulire, Guild Sorrow, Burning Blade ll 80 Bm hunter.
A joke for other classes hahaha.

I hope someone will answer me, becouse i really think of quiting this game and will pull at least 80 hunters in 2 realms with me.
I play hunter becouse i like that class and becouse of pets. There are no other reasons to play hunters but this anymore

Theres been umteen posts aboot 'is i good enough for ze mm's' threads constantly poping up lately and the same with the ArP gemming etc.

So to clear up a few things and hopefully stop peole constantly posting the same things over and over again.

From all the work/research thats ben done at elitest jerks and numerous other hunter groups etc there no point switching from surv to mm if your still grinding naxx gear etc. Its not worth it untill you are getting more of the ulduar 10/25man loot. Your weapon matters alot also.. min being kel's gun from 25man.

You might say.. well i went mm for a naxx run or soemthing and i did more dps than i did as surv.. well then you were more than likley doing something wrong as surv tbh but im not going to get into all that right now as it may be just your playstyle.

Here is a link to a short but useful guide if you think your ready to go mm.. do not go mm just because you hear f every other hunter doing it. Do it because your at the gear lvl where its worth doing and not becasue its what everyone else is doing atm. Do it for the right reasons.

http://ensidia.com/home/guides/hunter-part-2-marksman/

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

ArP..
Yes there is a point as to where each point in ArP does more dps than in agil, there also a point where you stop gemming ArP and switch back to agil, theres also very specific things you will need before going down this route.. mainly trinkets ie grim toll and Mjolnir Runestone. Grim toll is good but uts runestone that you really need to have to make the most of the spec.

Im currently still working on my set and have 595 ArP and grim toll ( still waiting on runestone to drop)

The following is a summary of arp for us..

Between 550-650 ARP each point of ARP provides more of a dps increase than each point of agility as long as you have a ARP proc trinket like Grim Toll or Mjolnir Runestone. So gemming ARP to get from a normal 275-375ish ARP rating to 550-650 ARP rating should net you a dps increase.

Past the 650 ARP threshold agility begins to give you more dps per point than ARP, until you reach an ARP rating above 1150. At that point you can ditch the ARP proc trinket for something with either ap, crit, or agi proc/use.

So basically the theory is
0-549 arp, arp < agi
550-650 arp, arp > agi
651-1149 arp, arp < agi
1150-x arp, arp > agi

Now this also assumes that you drop arcane shot out of your rotation in favor of another steady shot. This is where I really start to get a little hazy on the whole subject.

If I understand correctly, steady shot is only doing more damage than untalented arcane shot, and only when you have a full 100% armor pen. So if you do not have to change your spec (the people with passive 1150+ ARP go 3 points into focused aim since the gear to get that high doesn't have enough hit on it to reach cap) then arcane still does more damage and should be in the rotation.

Now all of this information is stuff that I have pilfered from the EJ hunter forums and seeing as how we do have a fairly reliable spread sheet to test with and we do have reports of significant increases from ARP gemming, I'm inclined to believe the above information.

In short if you have a weapon of item lvl 226+ go mm
With Runestone trinket the magic arp number to reach 100% is 565
With Grimtoll trinket you need around 620 although its better to hold out for the runestone.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hopefully this will clear some things up and stop the constant stream of said threads poping up every day. Im not saying you have to follow this but if you asking questions about going mm/arp then it should be covered above.

If still in doubt .. stay surv, or if in the mm tree and still unsure stick with agil gems the difference isnt gigantic it will just push your dps up alittle bit more.
