look, blizzard dont care, so u suck? well they aint gna change that. Do what i did reroll, u might even ding 60 before expansion, i'm loving this rogue, hes level 43 now and i killed a level 51 warrior today. Warriors suck in live, they will continue to suck in TBC and beyond. No point whining, just stop playing warrior, its not fun anymore.

You do realise you can't backstab someone in the face right?

QFT. You get some data here:

http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/thread.html?topicId=37024708&pageNo=8&sid=1#145

For that dps, with given formula that guy should generate around 5.04 rage per swing, not 6.97 as Kalagan pointed it.

How did I miss what? I don't get it?

And yes, I did use ~40% armor mitigation into account, because that was the one used by kalagan judging by his average rage/hit on live.

Sorry, I did my math right, he seems to be right. If that's the fact, then:

a) 55.5% of your rage income is linear

b) an average IBS warrior wtih 120 white dps will generate exacly the same rage on "average armored enemy" on level 60. Kalagan forgot to add that "average armored enemy" is enemy with 41% mitigation, so average IBS joe in greens and blues will notice a drop in rage / hit for everything below 41% mitigation, not to mention crits.

Sad indeed. Then again Penn at level 70 with his fresh gear generate about 25% more rage then average IBS Joe on level 60 with rage normalisation.

With this profile

http://ctprofiles.net/4225116

and the formula
RPH=1.25*WEAPONSPEED+DMG/LVL
RPS = 1.25 + DPS/LVL

we have this overpowered warrior doing an average hit of
(654/14 + 20.3) *3.6 = 241 dmg against a 0% mitigation target.

Kalgan was smart enough to make it even worse by adding the "standar" armor value that according to him it is 40% mitigation. ( notice how he doesn't specify what "standar" armor is )

So against a 40% mitigation opponent this dude will make an avg hit of 241 x 0.6 = 145 dmg

So we insert the data on the formula and we get
1.25 x 3.6 + 145/60 = 6.91 PER HIT WITH THE RAGE NORMALISATION.

In other words kalgan confirmed what most warriors know since one month now. The new rage formula.

The post quoted at the OP, totally pawns kalgan that intentionally forgot
a) to add the battle shout from that poor warrior
b) to include any amount of %crit that this poor warrior would have.
c) to consider that most of this warriors target are not going to have 40% mitigation....

Generally the OP is perfectly correct. Read the post and feel free to make questions if you want.

In other words if you GENERATE more than 2.5 rage/second currently ( 75 dps at lvl 60), you will be nerfed coming TBC
If you generate less than 2.5 rage/second currently ( i don't think i have met anyone who does less than 75dps .....) your rage generation will be weakened.

That's where the formula is wrong.

It's not 1.25 * SPEED...

Why?

Because then you would gain rage for not doing damage at all (absobtion shields and theretical 100% mitigation enemy), which is simply not the case, the formula is flawed here already. The speed modifier should include mitigation into account, and i figured out it should be something like this (PURE GUESS):

2.15 * (100% - mitigated%) * SPEED + DMG/LV

with 41-42% mitigation (which was the case in Kalagan's post) 2.15 * (100% - mitigated%) is 1.247 - 1.2685. That would mean, no matter what you are hitting, if you are average Joe on level 60 with IBS having 120 white dps in stats you will generate slightly more rage per hit, but still less rage per crit. On level 70 with 200 dps (Penn's case) you are doing better then average Joe.

Those are definitely inaccurate.

Here are the current rage generation formulae (note: these are slightly different than the ones which are on the current public test realms).

The notable changes include an update to offhand rage generation (previously it was not being normalized correctly), and an improvement to rage generation from crits (essentially, crits now generate double the rage the hit would have ordinarily caused). The later change should help ensure that certain specs (ie: sword specialization) don't become clearly superior to crit-enhancing specializations like Axe/Polearm.

For Dealing Damage:
Main Hand Normal Hits: Factor=2.5
Main Hand Crits: Factor=5.0
Off Hand Normal Hits: Factor=1.25
Off Hand Crits: Factor=2.5

Rage Conversion Value (note: this number is derived from other values within the game such as a mob's hit points and a warrior's expected damage value against that mob):

Rage Conversion at level 60: 230.6
Rage Conversion at level 70: 274.7

Expansion Rage Gained from dealing damage = ((Damage Dealt) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 7.5 + (Weapon Speed * Factor))/2

Pre-Expansion Rage Gained from dealing damage = (Damage Dealt) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 7.5

For Taking Damage (both pre and post expansion):
Rage Gained = (Damage Taken) / (Rage Conversion at Your Level) * 2.5

Woot. I assume the weapon speed related rage will still be 0 towards a PW:Shield? As in, its not counted as a hit in the first place, and factor = 0?

Thank you for the info, going to update my online calcultor.

Just a question: how is it possible we don't gain rage on fully mitigated hits with this formula? :)
