Been playing around with shiv since the last patch. Found it to be good in both pve and pvp due to the recent snd buffs. Spreadsheats also tell me that what Im seeing is true. Shiv is back where it was a year ago, outscaling main attacks.
Been pvping with 35/5/31 spec last few days, threw together a wannabe-movie of it. Its good for stunlocking about anything, but sortof misses the burst of mutilate. The substained damage is great though. Nature damage neglects any armor, so it doesnt matter what armor your targets have.

Yeah, would be pretty amazing if that was to happen. I believe blizzard knows about this problem. Blizzard has taken steps to nerf Shiv before, and will most likely do it again. Still is alarming that rogues have come to a state where a secondary attack is outdamaging a main attack...

Be that is it may, the main reason why such a thing as a 'shiv' build became viable at all in the first place is all about how the poisons scales. The 'problem', IMHO, isn't Shiv, but how big a part of our damage poisons have been allowed to become in the first place.
Anyways, this is a pretty pointless discussion I started anyways, since I think we pretty much both agree that it's a problem that such a thing as a shiv build is viable in the first place, and only serves the purpose of showing how much the Rogue class has deteriorated since the launch of WotLK.

They should just make instant poison/wound poison damage scale with the average damage of the weapon in question.
And normalize FA procs.
Otherwise it's just gonna get worse and worse as we get more and more haste and more crit/AP for the poison damage to scale with.
I don't know about you guys, but I really don't feel like ending up using 1.0 speed vendor weapons with IP stacking only haste in t9.

Heh. Normalising FA and poisons would be needed - and buffing deadly poison (rather than nerfing instant, noty) to scale equally to the other two (Deadly is on a 30% co-efficient, deadly and instant are on 50% iirc).

i have been fiddeling round with shiv and came up with a in theroy 200 dps gain over my mutilate specc.. strangly enough this applys to having one webbed death and one lpc
lpc goes oh with intant webbed goes mh with instant... spam shivs refresh using evisc and rupture
I read the news screen.. and OH, 4 hr maintenance to bring arena back up? That's like closing down an entire theme park because one of the toilets are blocked up.
