Q u o t e:

Last PW kill : Shiv rogue 5815 dps, mutilate rogue 5400.

Patchwerk. Nuff said.

If Muti gets an AR + Flurry equivalent it'll start competing on PW.

For the shiv spam spec would i be right in assuming that the faster weapon will go in OH for cheaper shivs?, and as for MH i am at a loss ,so i would be grateful for any advice please guys. I currently use WD MH/CG OH cqc build but i do have a murder and twilight mist at my disposal.

*EDIT* as i will be putting 3 into vile, would the poison setup be IP OH/WP MH?..

thanks in advance.

Yes.

Faster = Better. More WP procs.

Murder MH, WD OH.

No, you put IP in OH due to the 100% chance for it to proc poison - otherwise it'd be pointless using IP due to low proc rate.

As far as arena goes Im guessing this is still way behind the other specs after losing cripping and wound poison? (and to a lesser extent mind numbing poison).

Just a quick question.

If I respecc to combatshiv with webbed death at mainhand and fast sword as offhand (if thats even right) should I regem to pure ap and such instead of agility (wth capped expertise and poison ofc)?

Thanks in advance!

Only if you are extremely dedicated to maximizing DPS.
AP will be better but not by enough to regem usually.

Yeah, would be pretty amazing if that was to happen. I believe blizzard knows about this problem. Blizzard has taken steps to nerf Shiv before, and will most likely do it again. Still is alarming that rogues have come to a state where a secondary attack is outdamaging a main attack...

please don't talk. Do you really think they will buff other attacks\skills or w/e? Nah.. They will just nerf Shiv.

so can someone give me a link to the elitist jerks shiv info (read somewhere they've written something about it)

so is it pretty much:
as fast as weapons as possible, instant on both weapons and just spam shiv and do the usualy 5snd, 5r, 5e?

and hailstorm is the optimal OH cuz of the sword spec.

might try it in hc naxx tomorrow

Most likely they will remove instant poison procs from shiv.

Q u o t e:
Ideally, Shiv would not be an uber PvE button to push, which is why we have nerfed it before. We don't have any changes to announce for it yet, but we may end up changing it before 3.1 ships. The purpose of such a change would not be to nerf rogue damage, but just so you didn't feel like you needed to use Shiv for Combat or Assassination PvE builds.

Please remember that we have not announced all of the 3.1 changes yet. Even when 3.1 goes up on the PTR, it will not initially have all of the class changes in it. We want to get this patch up early so we have lots of time for feedback.

One thing we are messing a lot with is poison procs. Changing poison to a proc per minute would make super fast weapons less attractive. I am suggesting that such a change might happen just so you don't recklessly shard all of those slow weapons. (The Enhancement shamans may want them too.)

Shiv seems like it will probably get changed again.

Figures, Blizzard screws up rogue PvE dps and whenever the numbercrunchers find a viable solution/spec it gets nerfed. Referring to: Shiv spec in the first place, HAT and now shiv again.

[sarcasm]PPM on IP sounds like a great idead, thumbs up![/sarcasm]

Yay lets change the mechanics of the rogue to fix all the problems, so the people that have learnt certain specs specifically because blizz screwed them up in the first place are going to have to spend hours theorycrafting again. Seriously considering rerolling, then i wont have to learn new rotations every patch/expansion.

Surely there's an easier solution.

PPM on poisons? Its a Dark age for us now, and you're just making it darker. Why dont you just addjust poisons to do more damage on slower weapons?

wouldnt it have the same outcome on dps either way?

Other than the fact it seems to make haste worth less now, unless the proccs now scale with haste

No you would use WP/IP or IP/IP depending on spec.
