In our 3.1.0 class updates post, we had announced plans to remove consumable ammunition from the game upon the release of the next major content patch. Our original plans were to change ammunition so that hunters would no longer need to utilise bag space, while adding some new functionality that would continue to make ammunition a compelling element of game-play. Unfortunately, this intended change will not be completely ready in time for patch 3.1.0.

We still fully intend to move forward with this change when the additional functionality becomes available, and for 3.1.0 we still intend to remove the need for pouches/quivers by greatly increasing the stack sizes on arrows and bullets, and the haste bonus from the bags will be preserved in another fashion. We'll be sure to inform you of further updates once they become available.

Look on the bright side:

1: patch 3.1.0 is coming fast it seems, which is nice

2: delay means more time to test the new ammo system. Remember, if something goes wrong with it, we end up doing melee untill it is fixed. I don't mind this system being tested for a bit longer ;-)

Q u o t e:
We do have a deadzone, 35 (or 41) yards and beyond, you have nearly the whole realm to stand in safely, but noooo, you want our little 35 yard circle, greedy bugger.

This change wasn't fair to other classes anyway, personally I'm happy it's delayed.

Wasn't fair to other classes? What?

Fair does not exist in WoW firstly;

and secondly, how would this change lowering the ridiculous prices we have to continuously pay in order to produce good dps be unfair to other classes? It means other classes such as warriors and rogues don't have to use up bag space either, plus it doesn't buff our damage in any way at all, all it does is not drain our wealth - gold isn't much of a damage boosting ability.

Shame we can't see the change coming, was the only highlight of 3.1 for me personally, apart from a few tweaks on the talents. Not saying I know anything about game design, but surely it can't be that hard to implement? They've already got the basic idea with Thoridal. Though of course, if they are delaying it because they're focusing on balancing our trees to justify the name 'pure dps class', then I'll be happy to wait.

I once fought a brave rogue.

How can you know this far in advance that the new ammo won't be ready in time for 3.1?

Well hunters level faster than other classes which means that they don't need to pay as much in repairs as other classes while leveling. Personally I see this as a way to balance out the difference between hunters and other classes. Also remember that other classes need to pay for reagents, just look at druids, priests and paladins for example.

Its very likely 3.1 is ready in terms of all major changes and content for PTR already. As 3.09 is going straight to live servers, 3.1 will most likely be on PTR in the next couple of weeks.

Removing consumable ammo is a major game change. it would most likely need to be rolled out with the start of the PTR, rather then being patched in later. Rather get Ulduar out and fix ammo later, then delay it all to make sure the change works properly.

Seriously, just what the hell are you putting your Development team on?

Very, very Dissapointing, this change actually made me level up my hunter, because in no hell I'm spending more friggin money on ammo, and what, unfortunate? Do I need to wait until patch 3.4 and announced that it wont come in again? nooooo, It'll come in the beta, and I'll sure but we'll get a half-ass baked lousy mechanic of ammo, just like that lousy Frost arrow.

To quote someone from the US forums:

Jathan says:

Q u o t e:
Very disappointing.

Almost no compelling new raid content at expansion launch.

Arenas have been messed up since they started.

Just what are you guys devoting your resources too?

Sure as hell doesn't seem to be end-game, on either front...

Pretty sums it up.

So many damn broken hypes, I mean come on man, what the hell!
Just so damn depressing ._.

why not just keep quivers/pouches and make hunters able to put the quiver in the ammo slot in the character page.

"Hunters are leveling faster" I heard DKs can pull alot more mobs at once constant without losing 30% hp.

Anyway the speed of leveling is ridiculous aspect of looking what is fair against others.

Steady is a good bread and butter ability but it's not much more interesting than auto shot.

BUTTER AND BREAD MOTHAS, BUTTER AND BREAD.

Did you ever play a class that actually buffs a raid (especially wipe raids)?

Ever tried to grind as healer (to prevent 2*50g respec cost)?
Wielding plate and repairing that after grinding or wipe raids without feign death?

Did you ever play a raiding warlock, how much time it takes him to regain the shard he uses up, and how much bagspace it takes?

I actually never did. Can you tell me?

I believe there are 32 slots in the largest Soul Shard bag. If you do dailies can't you just get your shards while doing those? Can you grind 150 gold faster than 32 soul shards? (About the amount I use on ammo for 1 evening of raiding.)

I believe in Karma. That means I can do bad things to people all day long, and assume they deserve it.

It not about the money ffs, it about all hunters have lower space , for a full naxx we need @ 30-40 free slots in bag, all u think the hunters it great, well it not try a full t7 hunter and full naxx 25 gear put him in bm spec and u see the result maybe u get 3k dps........
all u know only to say nerf the hunters !!!!

yes mr pally and stop lying about respeccing for grinding because holy can aoe grind effectively now and we both know that :3

I spend less money to raid on my prot specced pally (no DI escapes, no consumable slacking, no regular escapes since Im the first one to die and lots of mobs bashing me rather than standing at a safe spot as holy) comapred to my hunter because of ammo

we already have our share of extra regs named the pet food and you arent too bright because 20 scroll of kings costs 24s and you really cant waste more than 400 in a single night so 20x24s=4.80g wohooo

the cheapest ammo you can get as a raider is timeless arrows which costs 1.7g per stack and we waste around 40-50 stacks while raiding and Im not counting the "wipe raids" because it doubles up with them

I cant even get some reliable pet food with the money you spend on scroll of kings

people suck
comparing 5g to 180g is a proof of that
