0. 13/09 Voice Chat Launch Ramp Up 13/09/2007 09:31:55 PDT

In the upcoming patch we will be introducing voice chat, which allows players to talk to each other in-game with the use of a microphone. To ensure that we provide the quality play experience we’re committed to, we will be ramping up the voice chat feature in multiple stages. Currently we are scheduling voice chat to be available on patch day for a limited number of US realms. While all realms will still receive the 2.2 patch, and all the content and changes therein, only some US realms will have voice chat enabled at the start. We plan to then enable voice chat for a limited number of European realms and the remaining US realms the following week, and one week later we will plan to enable it for the remaining European realms. This ramp up release will help us to test the voice chat feature in a live realm environment before enabling it on all realms.

If I've read it right, that's the list that have to wait, if your server isn't there, it gets it immediately.

Ofc, my server is listed, so I get to wait.... to find out that the cute little mage I've been lusting after is a 17 stone trucker from Newcastle called Dave.

There's so much whine on these forums, I always get pissed

Thats not how it reads to me :)

It looks like patch 2.2 will come, then a week later those realms will have voice chat enabled, then a week after that the rest of the realms will have voice chat.

I read it to mean that the patch will come out one week, and no servers will get voice chat that day. One week later, the listed realms get voice chat. A week after that, the remaining ones do.

Seriously though, how do Blizzard plan to police this? I can imagine lots of particularly nasty flaming going on, and it's just not feasible to save every voice chat packet or review them if you report someone.

Was wondering the same thing, these new features are really cool but this one could be quite a problem...

hehe good that my realm is not on the list,I bet 500g that when voice chat is implemented on those listed realms something will happen with servers so they all will be down for 24h,then they will take a week to solve the problem when the rest gets the chat everything will be fine,so no thanks for testing.Im happy "Im" not on the list.

I'm pretty curious about what this will do to RP realms... on one hand, the precence of the OOC player will be strengthened, and we will get reminded that the Gnome Mage is indeed a Human plumber for real, but on the other hand, one will be able to communicate more freely, use intonations and similar to enhance one's character and the like.

I still don't know if it's good or bad that I don't have a microphone.

It's quite simple, so you wouldn't understand.

Skinning a bear should aggro every bears in a 40 yard radius. It makes sense, you are actually skinning their best friend.

One thing, you don't have to talk. You can just listen, and I assume everyone has some means of listening..
