Hi,

I'd like to show some pictures of a really long crafting project to the WoW-community. This project is highly related to World of Warcraft, and it is still a fan-project, although the work is professional. We have been crafting armor since 1994. What started as sorts of an uncommon hobby, became more and more professional through the years. I have always loved fantasy-games and I played “Warcraft: Orcs & Humans” back in those days, so Warcraft has guided me on this path.

All labels of our company have been removed from the pictures, because I do not want to use these forums for advertising our website.

In the beginning, there was nothing but steel and leather...

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002599.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002601.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002606.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002611.jpg

Now this is a custom-made project, and it is unique. We have done a lot of custom crafting, here are some samples (I took those which are for the most part related to Warcraft):

Two-headed ogre Christmas card, 2004

Doomhammer armor, 2005 (this guy plays an Orc warrior on our server!)

Hypnotic Blade, Christmas gift 2006 for my girlfriend (she still wears it on her priest when in RP-clothes)
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/hypno.jpg

Well... a dwarf from this year... I thought I just add this picture (-:

Back to our project... If you have not found out by now what this project is about, the next pictures should help.

http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002656.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002659.jpg

We added brass to the armor, the first metal parts were coloured red. The ribbons are placeholders made of paper.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002679.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002683.jpg

This armor consists of a tremendous amount of single pieces... good thing I did not start to count them.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002677.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002687.jpg

Gauntlets with some silly placeholders, the first pieces are black-oxide finished (a process to make steel appear black).
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002699.jpg

The first finished ribbons. Embroidered cloth with a golden cloth background. I was totally amazed to find golden cloth that looks exactly like brass plate.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002725.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002728.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002729.jpg

The most wicked parts were the shoulders... the books and the daggers are made of brass and it was difficult to fit them exactly to the round shoulders. One idea was to use real books and paint them golden, but in the end we decided that it would look crappy. True metal ftw!

When I finally got the shoulders so far late at night, I felt so silly in my head that I had to put some stupid placeholders on them...
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002730.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002731.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002732.jpg

Gauntlets... lots of small scales and rivets.
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002743.jpg
http://i187.photobucket.com/albums/x314/Firesofsteel/P1002740.jpg

Another problem was the belt... we had to find a way that it can be opened without having buckles or lacings that can be seen. In the end, we decided to use removable bars on the front- and backside (the lacing is partly hidden by that Kings-symbol and will later be fully hidden beneath a golden apron between them).

More ribbons... finding appropriate text was not that easy, we searched several wikis, asked on the forums, I slaughtered some Scarlet Crusaders with my druid main and made up some text which could lore-wisely suit a Paladin's armor.

Well, the work took several hundred hours of time, and I am glad that we finally made it... Gratz to the human paladin Kastore from EU-Frostmourne to these phat epix!

Many thanks to everyone who supported us during that project (we started early in July). It was one of the coolest projects we have ever done so far, and I am really excited to read some opinions (-:

Oh, and let me be the first one to congratulate you on first place at Blizzcon '08. And '09. '10 and up.

There are those who rush headfirst into the fray. Those who clinge onto their life, yet fight with untold fury.

They are called Warriors, may you never run into one.

Good Lord I just had the biggest Nerdgasm of my life.

That is soooo good! Great job man. I saw the pics of the belt and thought it looked a bit tacky, but when everythings assembled together the suit looks great! Now do a Warrior T3 version :D
