The buffs here are designed primarily to make Arcane more competitive with Fire / Frostfire builds in PvE. Because they could end up buffing Arcane in PvP, we are prepared to adjust the damage of say Arcane Barrage if needed, but we want to see these in action on the PTR first.

Mage PvE damage in general is something we are keeping a close eye on. With the recent hunter changes, many of which were nerfs to PvE damage, we want to make sure mages now don’t break away from the pack of damage-dealing specs.

• Evocation – cooldown reduced to 4 min.
• Arcane Flows – now also reduces the cooldown of Evocation by an additional 1 / 2 min.
• Arcane Blast – overhauled. Will now increase the damage of your next Arcane spell by 30%. However using Arcane Blast itself does not consume the charge, but instead increases the mana of your next Arcane Blast, up to a maximum of 3 stacks. You can alternate Blast and Barrage to keep buffing Barrage, or you can build Blast up higher for a heavy mana cost.
• Torment the Weak – now works with Arcane Blast and does bonus damage to targets afflicted by any kind of slowing effect (e.g. Thunder Clap).
• Elemental Precision – renamed Precision and now works on all spells.
• Improved Blizzard – snaring effect reduced to 20/40/50%.

Good news , but i'm expecting a nerf to arcane barrage aswell , it would be too much burst in pvp from the arcane blast buff

Hey could you just clarify this quickly: Is the elemental precision change to nerf the 6% hit on frostfirebolt? because if that is the case that is seriously uncool please dont do it.

Edit: Also could you fix living bomb and icy veins please? living bomb can be reflected, just the explosion bit this is a little bit irritating and icy veins doesnt give the promised pushback resistance. Losing casting time with icy veins up is clearly a bug

This is amazing.
Full buffs across the board as I see it. The blizzard change is unimportant for me.

anything without a manabar should be deemed too intellectually disabled to have a say in a debate

Note however that Nerimash's post is incorrect, the revamped Arcane Blast (the all-important change) is actually 15% per stack not 30% per stack, which isnt that huge a change over how it is now, the damage stack is exactly the same, it can just be applied to an arcane missiles or arcane barrage cast as well after stacking it.

As I see it (which may be fuzzy because the explanations on Arcane Blast is a little incomplete) the changes to Arcane Blast is a clear-cut buff which will cause a mana sink. WHICH IN ANY CASE will be more than resolved by th 2 minute (talented) cooldown on Evocation. Arcane mages will be awesome.

Blizzard damage scales exponentially as you AoE more mobs, that's what's out of hand with it first and foremost, not really the snare.

Be yourself! Unless, of course, you are a jerk. Then it's probably better to be someone else.

I was suprised to see that you keep an eye on mage dps but we saw nothing about Shadow Priests and Moonkins doing AE twice the damage we do (i assume they didn't have any cap as we have atm).
Its good to see you have a close eye on us but dont forget to take them close aswell, shadow priests dps is insane in single target and impossible to match in AE, even Hurricane is way better than blizzard.

ty 4 your time :)

Essentially arcane blast will function exactly as it does now, but with the stacked damage buff (but NOT the mana increase) also applying to the next arcane spell you cast.
Thus, blast > blast > blast = 45% extra damage when stacked, then if you follow it by arcane missiles/barrage/explosion that cast will also deal the 45% extra damage, while retaining normal mana cost. Spamming arcane blast itself however, is not changed in any way.

The buff can be dispelled. So its very rare in pvp where you'll see 2 or 3 Blasts then a barrage

What buff? The buff that's just been announced, has no details surrounding it, and isnt on the PTR or available for any players to use?
Or do you mean the existing arcane blast stacking buff, which is actually a *debuff* and not dispellable by friendly or hostile players?
