Hey there guys, been looking at the forums lately and i see a lot of posts asking for help with Talent Builds or just random questions about Frostfire. Personally i'm not much of a theorycrafter, so if i write any mistakes or forget something dont be afraid to say it, would be nice to see this guide work!
Ok then here it goes:

What is the Frostfire Talent Build?

The Talent Build Frostfire is at the moment the best raiding specc, it relies heavily on crit and damage rather than haste (haste needed at end game i presume). In this specc, people mainly use Frostfire Bolt (http://www.wowhead.com/?spell=47610).

Frostfire Bolt: Launches a bolt of frostfire at the enemy, causing 722 to 838 Frostfire damage, slowing movement speed by 40% and causing an additional 90 Frostfire damage over 9 sec. If the target is more vulnerable to Frost damage, this spell will cause Frost instead of Fire damage.

That means that the Frostfire bolt is nor Frost or Fire, but Frostfire, meaning it has its own Area of Magic that uses talents in Frost and in Fire to enhance it.
Most common Talent specc: 0/51/18 + 2 (http://www.wowhead.com/?talent=oZfVc0RhIhVubhctbIccoc)

Talents that work with Frostfire bolt:

- Impact
- Burning Soul
- Master of Elements
- Playing with Fire
- Critical Mass
- Fire Power
- Pyromaniac
- Combustion
- Molten Fury
- Empowered Flame
- Hot Streak
- Burnout
- Frostbite
- Ice Shards
- Elemental Precision
- Piercing Ice
- Frost Channeling
- Winters Chill
- Arctic Winds
- Fingers of Frost
- Chilled To the Bone


Rotation: Specced players should use this rotation: Living Bomb, Scorch till stacked (Very important! Scorch needs to be up at all times), Frostfire bolt spam and when Hot Streak proc's Pyroblast, and most importantly Living Bomb again when it explodes.


Why is Frostfire better than Fire or Fire + Icy Veins?

Fire has more Base damage yet lower critical damage, whereas Frostfire has low base damage and higher criticals, this is due to the Talent Ice shards in the frost tree.

In damage i made a little caluclation, these are the averages out of 5 shots, Dr Boom:

Frostfire:
Base damage, 2845
Critical: 7238

Deep Fire:
Base Damage: 3561
Critical: 5934

When one does a critical in Frostfire ( which is very often ) you can almost always outdamage someone in Deep fire, up to this point that is, as i have not been in end game yet

Glyphs and Gems:
Glyph of Frostfire is needed ofc :P
Glyph of Molten Armor and
Glyph of Imp Scorch prefered yet not compulsory when 2 mages are in the raid.

Gemming: Go for Crit / Crit + Damage / Damage

Stats to take: Hit till capped, then as much as possible in spell power, after that crit and last but not least haste. (Crit and Haste are on the same level)
For Hit, assuming that Frostfirebolt gets 6% from Elemental Presicion (3 for frost and 3 for fire = 6) you would need 11% which is around 289.This is not sure yet and be careful, it means 3% off all other fire and frost spells.

As for AoE this isnt the best specc, but it is acceptable. Frostfire is best in single target damage though.

xxx Boss has Immunity to Fire/Frost, is it still viable?
Yes, a fire immune boss, is immune to fire procs like Ignite and frost immune bosses to procs like Frostbite, it does however stay the same damage-wise.

Notices: Frostfire takes the highest of you stats, for example when you have 33% crit with fire and 23% with frost, frostfire bolt gains 33% crit. Also when counterspelled, it locks fire AND frost...

You'll probably be swamped with questions in a few hours. I mean, PvE is hard.

what about haste. dosent that have anything to say?

Well at least they will be answered, keep going guys.. im not exactly the smartest so any help does help, and no haste is not needed (in my opinion) till end game because the more crit, the more damage u do... simple as that

It is perfectly fine to AoE with.
Frost talents give beautiful Blizzard damage, in Naxx mine critted for up to 1700 each.

Ok, a few errors. As an earlier poster pointed out, frostfire AoE is fine - I prefer to Blizzard with a 51/20 spec, but flamestriking with 53/18 is fine as well.

Rotation: You should start with living bomb and not scorches.

Stats: Spelldamage is your first and foremost stat. Crit and haste are almost equal, and much lower than spelldamage.

Saying something about the soft hit cap is probably a good idea as well.

It is still misleading to call it an AoE spec. Best thing to say would be that it has acceptable AoE. Heaven knows that a deep frost Blizzard beats Frostfire spec several times over for AoE.

Didn't say it was a dedicated AoE spec - when dual spec comes it will be easier to have a raiding spec and an aoe/farming/kiting frost spec. It is, whoever, completely usable, and when there is an encounter that is damage-dependant it is usually in the form of single-target damage. AoE encounters tend to be more forgiving in the dps department. Kael'thas before the changes is probably the notably exception to this.
