Snoopyinc Guide to Heal Wrath:

Firstly I would like to start this document off by introducing myself to those of you that don’t know me. I go by the nick Snoopyinc in game. I am a Deathwisher member and am trying to set new records and change people ideas of end game healing with a Druid.

My previous guide that has been written was for the TBC healing style and can be found here: http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=2405328914&postId=27456495159&sid=1#0 ( look under the druid sticky information topic)

a short introduction as to why Druids are not just fillers:

We druids have been told "bah you a hybrid class you are a filler and nothing more", I am here to disagree with anyone that has told you that and can guarantee that druids can be one of the best end game healers if played correctly. I will repeat that... IF PLAYED CORRECTLY! In saying that I am here to guide you on correct play, this guide is somewhat Ahead of its class and requires a basic understanding of your Druid. If you find some of the things discussed go over your head I suggest reading up on a basic Resto guild before you come back to reading this.... will make more sense then I promise ;).

Our Class needs to diversify when needed in battle.

I will stay with the same structure as my last guide I have written and will start off with druid builds:

Since there are tons of specs you can choose from in Wrath and mixing them together to form your own style of healing I’m going to stick to the ones I find are best specs so far for my style.

Ok so let’s get started on the Druid builds:

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?tal=05320031000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000023003331203150053115331351

This build is one of my fav so far and the reason is as follows, By building points in the Balance tree to include Natures Grace means that every time you proc you get effectively Haste on your next time spell (Regrowth,HT,Nourish) So naturally you going to heal faster when it procs and by putting 3 points into it you guaranteed a proc when you crit. Natures Splendor explains itself but is something interesting about this spell… From what I have noticed is that my timing is a bit out of sequence since I started with this talent as I have become accustomed to feeling the time for my spells, now with the extension on them it feels like I’m starting from scratch again. So please be aware of this otherwise all you going to do is over hot and run oom quickly. The next point to explain is the replenish / living seed. These options are great for Raiding as they restore energy/mana/runic power and offer a free heal on a crit that only ticks when the person is struck. Both very beneficial. As you may have noticed I have opted to miss the HT tree totally and instead go for pure hot talents, don’t think that I don’t use HT as NS/HT is still one of my fav moves to pull in time of crisis. My gear and talent specs atm still give me a crit of 15k healing on HT so without talents they are still a lifesaver.

Note: you can swap Natural perfection point for improved tranquility if you want to, it’s a personal preference.

http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/info/classes/druid/talents.html?tal=05320001000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000000023003331253150253105301351

This spec relies on HT a lot and can be mana intensive… This role can be used should you feel that you prefer Using the Glyph that provides shortened HT casts and a reduced healing effect.

I personally don’t enjoy this spec as I like the ability to hot and control situations with my vast abilities. Take note of 1 thing with this spec, Nourish is your friend place hot first then ht heal and when in need nourish/swiftmend, using this tactic can save your Tank/ Off Tank.

I won’t go through more specs then these two as you can play around with the talents to make up your own as long as you keep the essential talents which are: Natures splendor, Wild Growth, Gift of the Earthmother, Improved Tree form, Master shapeshifter, Living spirit.

The all wanted question: Spirit vs. Intellect vs. Spell Power

Right I will provide some insight into this matter by means of personal experience and not formulae based paper proof as most people do.

Personally I find the following true and effective:

· Spell power is used to help keep people alive a lot easier by providing higher heals per spell

· Spirit is used as a Mana regen tool to keep your mana high to allow for longer heal durations which are needed in Wrath

· Intellect gives you a greater mana pool to play with and some regen but also Spell crit hit basis for your healing spells

So basically I would suggest the following as it’s hard to assess people that are reading this and what kind of gear they have. Work on a 1 to 1 ratio for spirit/intellect till your spirit reaches 850 unbuffed, then move spirit higher and keep intellect at around 790-850 but spirit to around 1k. Try to do this with Spell power not getting reduced but rather increased to around 1500-1700 for now while moving onto better gear. Please do note that this is to upgrade your stats and not to tell you what stats you should be at end game Wrath.

Druid Healing in Raids
1) you are not a Druid until you know your heals properly.
2) Know the fight before you get into it.... this is said so often but it’s required ESPECIALLY for druids since it’s about Damage knowledge more than anything. (Will cover it in a bit)
3) Learn to multitask and know when to renew your heals.
4) Learn your abilities and make people aware if you not sure about them... wiping a raid will put you into the Retard group.

Right let me go through it step by step:
1) You are not a Druid until you know your heals properly
A Druid that claims to be end game healer or wants to be end game healer should know exactly the type of healing his hots do over time, also needs to know how to counter should the hot fade at the wrong time. Know your timings of your HOTs. If you can’t keep track get a HOT timer Mod to do the timings for you and alert you when one is about to run out. Know to only refresh Rejuv when it’s ended and not before it’s ended. Learn to use Regrowth to counter a high hit and the ability to heal the classes that only take small amount of damage but get it often in the fight. --- Pre Wrath summary

Wrath information:

Same as above but what I personally recommend is learning to use Regrowth when needed. I find regrowth to be exceptionally adaptive to fights and can mean the difference between tank life or death. Nourish as I know a lot of people haven’t grown accustomed to this spell is in experimentation process, what I have found is that rejuv + nourish can heal for 8k if crit and takes 1 – 1.5 sec depending on haste rating. What I recommend trying is with the Natures Grace ability to use nourish when it’s up, it will basically give you a very quick high heal on a person without having to replace a hot.

Sequences are now redundant since Wrath bosses are varied and I personally believe that having a (lifebloomx3 , rejuv, regrowth, swiftmend reapply) is just not as effective as reading the fight and adapting to it. This leads me to the next point I have.

2) Know the fight before you get into it.... this is said so often but it’s required ESPECIALLY for druids since it’s about Damage knowledge more than anything.
This section is a bit advanced.... It requires dedication to becoming the Ultimate Druid healer in the game and requires research outside of wow to figure out the ability of the bosses and how to heal the tanks/ raid members. Depending on your Roll and Spec you will have different homework to do but also need to know the other peoples rolls. The idea behind this is that you have to learn what damage the bosses can impact on the RAID and the TANK and timelines... since all bosses have phases you need to learn when those phases come in and heal accordingly.
IMPORTANT: you need to anticipate healing. IE HOT UP BEFORE THE PHASE BEGINNS if there is no agro reset. IF there is an agro reset be prepared with NS and Regrowth to get your hots up as quick as possible when the tank has the agro. The prehotting is something that requires pure experience in the game to do it correctly. This is really important as it can mean you are either 6th on the healing list or 1st. It makes that much of a difference. --- Pre Wrath Summary

Wrath information:
I think that the info above is still in effect within Wrath if anything it’s become more important to know when to prehot as a lot of running around is required in wrath. Knowing a fight and learning when you can stop moving to provide a regrowth/nourish is very important since you need to understand where to position yourself and how to affect your stationary heals performance to keep you at the top. Running around WG won’t help a Raid progress or your info into yourself as you will become a “Regular if not below par Druid”

3) Learn to multitask and know when to renew your heals.

Multitasking is the Druids job. Lifebloom here lifebloom there rejuv here ... restack lifeblooms... rebirth someone while in battle... innervate someone else etc. This is done within a 6 second cycle of which your lifeblooms are at 3 stacks also while you running backwards and forwards...something other healing classes can envy. Lifebloom blooming is a very difficult thing to know and understand the timings... I would not recommend this to anyone that is new to this kind of play or hasn’t gotten full understanding of the Healing styles. Blooming can make you the imbaest healer in the RAID if you learn your timings. It is extremely mana intensive and will require alot of practice but can make a big difference. Currently my blooms bloom for about 2.8k -- Pre Wrath summary

Wrath information:

Multitasking is still in effect now more than ever, if you can’t handle multitasking I suggest rerolling to an easier class to play or going feral where you can use macros more. A Druid in Wrath has to be on his toes at all times in an encounter. I don’t mean to sound funny but it really has become a lot of effort to heal as a master of your class in Wrath. Running around and WG( Wild Growth) the whole time may be enough for now to get you high on meters but for how much longer will that last? let me give you an encounter to which I would do the following: Rejuv the tank pop 1 x lifebloom on him and WG the raid then run into battle with the tanks/dps watch agro of the highest person and pop a rejuv on that person just incase swiftmend is required, I then focus on the tank and make sure the entire hots are full and running without issues I also make sure that my WG is ready for the DPS should they get any damage and have my drums (leatherworking:P) ready for when we need burst dps etc. So within the first 30 seconds of a boss encounter I have healed around 15-25 people in the raid with full hots on the tank and offtank if needed, this may sound easy but combine it with specific heals needed by the damage input taken of the tank and you will start to understand the task at hand. The only suggestion I could say here is hot hot hot some more, you going to need a lot of practice till things starting to make sense and you get the “Feel” of your druid style.

4) Learn your abilities and make people aware sure/unsure about them... (Wiping a raid will put you into the Retard group).
This is a common problem in raids in both good and bad aspects. If you new to Healing as a druid you need to take a smaller job on like RAID Healing... being put onto the tank and letting your lifebloom bloom at the wrong time can cause the tank to wipe. The idea of this is that you must be fully involved in all your Druid abilities and understand that sometimes it’s about the RAID and not your healing to advance. Learn to say... "I’m not sure guys can I do raid healing instead?" You will not be called an idiot but rather be admired for saying something like that in front of everyone... people will take you seriously and respect your courage.
On the other side of the coin people tend to underuse druids. This is a common habit that happens. Underuse has to do with the fact that people aren’t aware of our multitasking abilities. (BTW the Thing about males cant Multitask is a bunch of rubbish.) The likes of ... "ok you heal the Tank".... is not the best use of a druid spec. IF it was this on the other hand you would be moving into the right understanding of our abilities. I.E. "Snoopyinc Heal the MT/OT and hot up the Mage... we may need you to innervate during the fight on a priest so keep it for them plz if you can"
That kind of thinking is what is going to put progression in the guild RAID wise and Druid wise.
REMEMBER: We can output 3x the healing a paladin can if we get more then 1 target to heal. This can be extremely effective. --- Pre Wrath summary

Wrath Information:
Not much has changed here about the learning your abilities and not wiping the raid. The only advise I can give to you all reading this is make sure you learn the new timings of your spells and understand your limits on Mana Going oom at 75% on a boss = you useless in raid. It’s not about “Cast cast cast cast cast o wait no mana” it’s about flow of the fight and making sure you are up on mana when the spike damage comes in and the raid gets damaged a lot etc. Remember it’s not about you being top of the healing meter it’s about the boss dying in the end. If you do it correctly you will hold the top spots on the meters as others will go oom before you and you can happily compensate for that while you have mana.

Here is a general note for you, With the current spirit structure that has been restored with the Resto class allowing us to gain mana at a decent rate from spirit and that innervate works off the spirit level I would suggest you have a basic understanding of the innervate spell for you to choose who to innervate if you not innervating yourself.
Here is a short list of do’s don’t for innervating:

Druid/Priest (holy) - Do’s & DPS/Paladins - Don’t

Shadow priests – acceptable when required

The reasoning for this is in my old healing guide under the innervate section… you can find the link at the top of the page.

IDOLS:

Before Wrath it was quite simple, Lifebloom idol and forget about the rest. With Wrath it’s not such a simple decision. The process of deciding what idol you want to use is based on your healing style. I have moved away from Lifebloom rolling and onto a more involved assessment and heal system. So therefore I use my rejuv as a complementary spell and use the rejuv idol for now till I get a better option in Wrath. http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=22398 – For those of you not sure what I’m talking about.

I firmly believe each spec now has its own idol to bolster its healing. Regrowth for the haste spec Dream state style of healing and HT for the HT style mentioned above under druid specs etc.

Get an add-on that can tell you how often you are casting a particular spell in a battle something like RECOUNT. This Add-on can help you with your style and assess what kind of changed would work better for your guild healing combination.

Scrolls:

Don’t forget about spirit Scrolls, they can mean the difference in you having mana or not on a boss encounter especially when you are gearing yourself up.

Oils:

For those of you that don’t know already here is some sad news, we can no longer use brilliant mana oils or superior mana oils to bolster our mp5 / spell power. Blizzard has done away with them so whatever your stash of them is send to your alt for leveling boosts, they worthless in Wrath.

Food buffs:

As you may know the new foods in Wrath are pretty imba compared to the old foods. The only recommendation I can give you is use foods to counter any spec shortcomings. From Spell power to spirit or haste rating it can provide it all for you. Here is a picture link of the various foods that you could use: http://3.bp.blogspot.com/_iGcd-P71VLE/SRnR49sMBfI/AAAAAAAAAkY/Hsu4zK4rB9g/s1600-h/cooking1.png

This Post will be added to as i get more information or realise what I have left out. This Post is not a copy paste post and is directly from my Experience as a Resto druid. Should you wish to talk to me and want to have an in depth discussion real time feel free to catch me in game.

I will be adding a section on Wild Growth strategies and the actual heal itself... since Its a major change I think it will be a nice addition to the guide.

If you feel the guide is missing something feel free to ask/add etc.

Thanks

What happened is that players would post screenshots of damage meters with them at the bottom and then demand an explanation. The explanation was that they needed to L2P

It's a healing forum, not "OMG WG and CoH have a CD" or "Chain heal is sooo OP" forum! So the guide is right on track ;)

Of course its useful now add it to the sticky :P

With regards to the Wild growth healing:
I have found that using a mod called Grid it provides me with the ability to learn position healing. If you look at the heal itself it states "Heals up to 5 friendly party or raid members within 15 yards of the target..." So if i target the tank it will heal 5 people near the tank and so on. So why not just hot up each person with WG? Well the main reason is you would go OOM faster then you could say Wild Growth and its ineffective healing.

Healing style for WG:
1) Know what groups are ranged / Melee
This point is important to us as druids... if you WG a tank then WG a melee standing by the tank you basically wasted a GCD + mana + time that could have been used on someone to prevent their death.
The idea here is to WG people in groups and rejuv/lifebloom/nourish those that are by themselves saving you mana and benefiting the raid as a whole. So know what groups in your raid setup are ranged/melee and know who is standing alone vs together, this requires a basic experience knowledge of raids and raiding in wow.

2) Know where they are standing and how far apart they are
As mentioned above if they are out of your reach don't WG them as its ineffective rather regrowth/lifebloom etc as it will be a single target benefit.

3) Know when to cast WG
Knowing when to cast WG can be misunderstood by people that know their druids vs new comers to the druid healing class. A Druid that knows his healing pattern and style will know that starting with WG and refreshing it when its finished is a waist. A True Tree healer will understand the fundamentals of battle and the ideas behind his vast range of spells to use. Starting with the spells that don't over heal IE: Lifebloom/Rejuv and when damage gets inflicted casting regrowth and then casting his WG to start healing up others around him will distinguish a good healer from a legendary healer.

Im sure i could post plenty more about this but i prefer to get some feedback from you the druid community as to what you would like me to talk about some more so that i can provide you with one of the better guides there is.

Thanks alot, was really useful to read but I gotta say, alot of it was familiar already. Even though Im still kinda new to healing as a druid. Some things were really good to see someone else agree with. Nourish for an example, people think Im crazy using that spell but with a nice timing it can really be a lifesaver.
I think the hardest part is to get the flow of lifebloom. Thats the hardest part to learn as a resto druid. WG is pretty easy, it just makes sense that you shouldnt go spamming WG on the same group/different targets, I know people do that alot tho but its really nothing compared to lifebloom.
Overall I must confess healing as a druid is the best thing Ive tried so far in Wow.
Im currently using a build that looks like the first one you mentioned but with the tranq talent since I still do alot of heroics and its nice to pop every boss but Im gonna try something else later just to see the true difference.

Hmmm... on you HT build you forgot to take Naturalist :P which is "shortened HT cast" as you mentioned after link.

I made build with included HT in it. Even though most of the time (like 90%) i still use HoTs. I dropped Subtlety and 2 points in GotEM to take Naturalist and I favored Replenish over Living seed. The rest is same as build you linked above :).
I like it a lot. More buttons to press are always welcome :].

Good guide. Was bored at work and played around with the Talent Calc. and came to realize the -0.5 cast time was actually an option as i specced Balance just up to Nature's Splendor without going for Nature's Grace, but i got left with the Problem where to put 2 last point in the Resto tree. My Resto built leaves HT totally out, but one thing im not sure about is, if its worth to go for replenish as i havent raided yet. So i dont know if the 15% are worth it. But like u say, its experience. If u have any hints towards this, i would appreciate it :)

Most things in the guide i consider common sense if playing a druid, but i wouldnt go as far as to say that every druid does that.

Anyway, took me a while to read this, gonna log in now and get rid of my leveling built :)

And thanks for a wonderfull guide. I´m in for some hard training learning to keep Lifebloom constantly up now.

Well as you have said you havent raided yet... When you start to raid you will notice Very quickly that your mana is an issue so i find replenish quite helpful to all that are in the raid to assist them as much as possible with the mana issues facing everyone as they gear up in raids.

Thank you all for the kind words and compliments I will continue to update this post with information as i find out more and more while playing my druidy :P
I am looking into something quite interesting atm. Glyph of innervation. May be something quite useful there ;) will post soon.

As with all good things they have to start somewhere ;)

Post a list of items you would like me to go into detail with and ill try see what i can do.

As far as WG the nerf isn't bad at all its actually fantastic for healers like myself that want to play with skill rather then just spaming buttons.

Its going to make healing alot funner that's for sure.

Overall a nice guide. I do not argee in all you are writing but in general a good guild. Personal I have been healing since TBC (as well being a boomkin from time to time).

I have tryed out an alternativ spec for druid healers; can be found here:

http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basic ... 3105311300

I would like you to take a look on it and tell me what you think.

Here is my ideer behind the spec:

I dont take [Wild Growth] cause I think it heals to little on each player. In 5-man parties I can easy heal all target without it and i 10/25-man raids there are other healer-classes that have better abilities for multible-target-healing.

[Gift of the Earthmother] reduces global cooldown from 1.0 sec to 0.8 sec. I dont take the talant cause with [Regrowth] and [Healing Touch] it have no effect for the spell cased after. Beside that i think its hard to dot up one target and click the next within only 0.8 sec. I have really do not have any troble (?) healing with a 1.0 sec global cooldown.

With this Resto build i chooses to use [Regrowth], [Ligebloom] and [Rejuvenation] the most and I use [Nature's swiftness] in a combo with [Healing thouch].

For the balance talants:
[Lunar Guidance]: Give me more spellpower and make up for the lost in Global cooldown. This talant give a boost to all the resto spell i use.

[Celestial Focus]: This talant give me 3% hasterating witch improve castingtime for [Regrowth] (and[Healing Thouch] and [Nourish]). The chance to stun have no "meaning" for me.

[Bambras]: I had to spend some talant to get to [Lunar Guidance]. This talant have ne real effect for my healer but it will stil imp. thrones used on tanks.

The rest on the Balance-talants pick most healer picks so I dont comment (?) them here.

The Glyphs for this spec:
- Glyph of Regrowth: This is a most as it one of the spells that you build support the most. You will use this spell alot.
- Glyph of Rejuvenation: This is a most as it one of the spells that you build support the most. You will use this spell alot.
- Glyph of Shiftmend: a most as you dont have a shorter Global Cooldown and therefor dont have the time to cast another juvenation]

Alternativs:
- Glyoh of Ligebloom: work well with [Nature's splendor]
- Glyph of innervation

Dont pick:
Glyph of Healing Touch - as it will make the healing gived by [Nature's swiftness] / [Healing thouch] combo lesser. You dont spam [Healing thouch] any way whit this spec.

Last i wonna hear what you think of Nourish. I normally dont use it. With the glyphs and the talantbuild I have [Regrowth] is better and (if I remember right) the manacost and instant healing is more or less the same.

what do you think about Idol of the Raven Goddess

http://thottbot.com/i32387

correct me if im wrong, but the way i see it it adds +44healing to all my healing spells instead of only 1 healing spell, so would better other resto Idols..

1) Keep x3 Life Bloom & Rejuv up. (On tanks 100%, raid as needed).

2) Regrowth is situational -meaning use your judgement-

3) Nourish is a Flash Heal if you will.

4) Wild - keep on CD any time AoE damage is present (next patch it will have a 6 sec CD)

5) Healing Touch I only use as instant.

If you can't take the heat, log out.
