Thanks to Wimpface (Oh no wait he changed his name again, it is Sykh now. Make up your mind Ziraly!) we have our Interview with an AddOn Developer section back, although it is a UI author this week we will forgive him since he is new :D
Mod subject of this week

UIs I decided to run with the theme of UIs so enjoy some new UIs which I don't think I have ever seen before :D

Draque UI – I'm sure there is a reason a hunter needs to see every ability they have all the time, I just haven't found that out yet. Some nice art in this UI so worth a look.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11751-DraqeUI.html

BadRasta UI – Why have I not seen this UI before? I have the art from this guy's previous UI but I have never seen it before now. Art, and a nice layout to boot. I think I'll download this later.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11663-BadRastaUI.html

SteamPixelCompilation UI – A HUD based UI with an interesting layout. The background can be changed into one of 9 colours.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11677-SteamPixelCompilation1280x1024.html

GhostTech UI – I like it. I didn't think you could make an ugly female draneai but this guy proved me wrong, it looks like an angry bull xD http://s.wowinterface.com/preview/pvw19523.jpg
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11345-GhostTechUI1680x10501440x900reloadedbyToidi2k.html

Llargo's UI – One for the larger screens.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10970-LlargosUI.html

Archangel UI – A minimilistic UI once again for wide screens
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11856-ArchangelUI.html

ColidesQuestingUI – A nice UI made for questing. Lots of screenspace and a very nice xp bar.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11041-ColidesQuestingUI3.0madefor1440x900.html#info

    Metz UI – Circles?
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info10782-MetzUI-1680x1050.html

DragoniresUI – Feels like the default UI but it isn't.
    Link: http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info8907-DragoniresUIV6.1BacktotheRoots.html

A special mention here to an addon called SkullAlertIcon created by Alfuin, who requested me to feature it here last week but I forgot :< Hopefully this makes up for it! It is a small addon which changes the crappy black and yellow triangle with a skull and crossbones to the default warnings when deleting an Item.

Interview with an AddOn Developer

Sykh of Spinebreaker has provided us with the following interview with Syrupk from WowInterface.com.

  • Name and Realm, (US or EU?)
    Syrupk from US Galakrond

  • How long have you been playing WoW?
Almost since beta, we started in March of O5, my husband and I. My parents followed within 3 months.

  • How and why did you get involved in creating custom made UIs?
I started with Discord fairly early. I had stumbled upon those forums. I had a really hard time looking to the upper left hand corner of my unitframes to see my health.

  • What UIs have you created so far?
I really have a ton of things that I have worked on. But do please visit my wowinterface list to see some of them. In regret, I've lost a lot of things with new computers coming and going. I'm trying to hang on to a lot more things now.

  • Do you write addons aswell or is it only UIs?
I've recently started looking into the API a little more, fooling around with oUF a bit, but none of my own addons as of yet.

  • What are your thoughts on the addon community?
Our addon community is an amazing team of people. I have found the answers to so many questions through the wow forums and wowace, not to mention added a few comrades to AIM. We definitely have our circle of people to help out and bounce UI ideas off of. Not to mention those we get inspiration from every day. Thankyou to all of you. The list is too big, I could never name you all.

  • You have gotten quite a few downloads on your AtalUI and Stardust UI, but what UI are you most proud of?
Wow, that is an amazingly tough question. They all have their strong points, but I've definitely gone back to the simpler stuff these days. I want to do my part in making a functional, eye-pleasing UI, yet lately I really have cut down on a lot of mods that I realized I don't need. Eepanels and Kgpanels are such wonderful mods, but I noticed that I don't necessarily need them to make a UI. I should answer your questions though :D I would have to say that I am most proud of the unitframes from Stardust. Heavily Tapestry inspired, they took me about 3 days, 6 hours of work a day. I worked hard on those puppies.

  • You have chosen the name Syrupk on WowInterface, and that's generally who you're known as but why Syrupk? What is the reason to this name?
My name used to be Sarah B before I got married. A friend of my husbands used to think it sounded like syrup, so he always called me SyrupB. When i got married it sort of stuck. My first server was Ner'zhul US, and I had a big blue troll named Blizzara. From there on out my nickname became either "Blizzy" or "Lady".

  • What addon could you simply not play the game without?
That is also a pretty tough question. I keep a folder of addons and one of blp files that get transfered to every UI. If I had to name one...probably Pitbull.

  • How has WotLK affected you in terms of UI-Creating?
Definitely playing a Death Knight. Taie has become my new main and with her it gave me a chance to create something specifically for her class. Still tweaking, but Decay UI is doing fairly well so far. A little different with the addition of some lua editing only mods such a lynstats and rminimap, but I think I have finally gotten down to the simple UI I can use for awhile. I think people are enjoying it so far.

  • What are you planning for the future as your next project?
I've recently met a girl who wants to do a couple recreations of Duke's shadow remakes of Giddeon's old UI's. I have a couple laying on my desktop I may start hacking away at this evening. I've done remakes of Giddeon's before, but Duke's texture changes really are intriguing me.

For something of my own, I'm not too sure. I want to keep Decay up, though I know there are a few things I could do with some of the other ones. I'd like to update Atal UI, but I'm not terribly versed in lua, so I may need some help updating oUF_Atal

  • What changes would you like to see Blizzard make in relation to addons and the interface? Or what could they have done better?
I have a couple of main things I would love to see. Definitely the ability to move all of the default blizzard frames, all the way down to bags and character frame. I think that would be a huge move for them. Following that will the ability to remove the blizzard art, hide bags, and make things transparent. Things they could have done better in my opionion, not necessarily anyone elses - the blizzard textures for the dialog frames etc I'm very not find of. I always add my own files for those things.

UI News

A special mention to Kudane who stepped down as admin of MMOInterface this week.
    ------------------------------------------
This is my last post as part of the Admin Staff here on the MMOInterface sites.

After co-founding the first site 6 years ago and helping all of them grow, it is with a heavy heart that I post my final news blurb on the front page.

While I am sad to be officially be stepping down from the Admin staff of the MMOInterface sites, it is not all sad, because, I will still be lurking around and you will still find me sneaking into the forums and hiding among the file downloads. I look back on the 6 years I have spent with the sites to those days when I was posting add-ons from emails by hand the first month EQInterface was up. To the numerous phone calls and emails Dolby and I got from our host provider when we team up saying that our bandwidth usage was crushing the server we were on. Then I look at what they have become today, each a leader in the games community and respected by the company that makes the games they support

You know, it wasn't long after Dolby and I teamed up for EQInterface/EQGui that we picked up our first staff member (and forum moderator), a fiery Canadian who the whole community fell in love with right from the start (of course I can only mean Cairenn). Cairenn has stepped into my role over the last year with all the sites (not just WoWI) as I transition out and she, doing what she does best, stepped up and kicked butt. I leave the sites knowing they are in the best hand possible with Cairenn and Dolby.

A single post can not express to you you what it has meant to be a part of the UI Community for the last 6 year. From Fanfaire to Blizzcon, you all have been amazing and I would not trade one minute of my time with all of you, I will miss it dearly.

Be safe out there amongst the Murlocs, the Drolvarg, the goblins and the bandits, remember its a jungle out there (in some zones!)

    - Kudane
    retired Admin and co-founder MMOInterface

I am very, very pleased! :) For those interested, I would like to mention that I got a new addon out, my own version of Blizzard's "Show Me The Money". Just go to http://www.wowinterface.com/downloads/info11855.html and download there. Comments always welcome!

Ol' MacDonald Had A Farm.
And On This Farm He Had a Murloc.
MRGLGLGLGLG Here, MRGLGLGLGLG There
MRGLGLGLGLG, MRGLGLGLGLG Everywhere

Yay, my macro made it!

But as Klishu said, if you're just going to use them for keybinding, you should use the keybindingthing in the default UI. I just posted that thing because I thought the guy who asked for it needed it for a longer macro, like marking and sheeping for instance.

I can't for the love of it get the BadRasta UI to work. Even following the installation guide, it doesn't work.

It seems like I've tried everything, does anyone have any tips on what might be wrong?

They're coming.
They're almost here.
