This is a list of pre-raid items available for tanks. I've seen a couple of lists of this kind around, but usually they're centered around what gear you should pick up from the new raids, rather than for them. So i've compiled a list of gear for each slot that is available to us without stepping into anything harder than 5 man heroics. This list also includes quest rewards aswell as bind on equip random world drops.

As i have never tanked as a druid, paladin or death knight, this list is mainly for warriors and contains only plate items for each slot. I assume that a paladin and death knight list will be pretty similar anyway, and that a druid could probably use some of the listed necks, rings and trinkets.

This list is in some sort of order, but one based on the personal opinions of myself and those i have talked to about it. Be warned, i don't know everything, and that just because an item here is listed as the top one for that slot, it doesnt neccessarily mean that it is the very best. Having said that, some choices were very close, so hopefully the order isnt that far off. A lot of items were so close that putting them into an order just cant be done, so i've put those particular ones into a random order instead, because picking up either of them would still be a good idea. There may be errors, as i made this list at stupid 'o' clock in the morning while i had the flu. I am aware that there are some dps plate pieces that are moderately good for tanking, but i have not included them. This also goes for the high stamina frost resistance items.

Added Tier 7 (10 man) chest and gloves, because although they are raid items, they're also available from Emblems of Heroism (80 and 60 respectively).

This drops in Naxxramas and is therefore not a pre-raid tanking item. =]

I use the cloak (not on the list) Tattered Castle Drape (http://www.wowhead.com/?item=37197) I'm a pally and I like this more then the other cloaks that I can get outside of Naxx.

If this thread is sticky, I would please ask to rename this thread to specify that druids are not included in the list, as to make clear that druids can also be tanks. I suggest "A compilation of pre-raid tanking items for Warriors" or "A compilation of plate tanking items". Specially when other threads already specifiy that (warrior or DK in the subject).

I know I might sound a bit pesky, but I feel a bit excluded :S
