And what you're going to do with it. Run to a city to melt your ore, as you don't have a portable forge, and then back into the wild to create your stuff?
I want portable trainers, and vendors and the whole world and instances in my bag.
Why? Then people would demand a portable forge next... There's no real need for people to be carrying an anvil with them. All the quick need items are craftable without one anyway (sharpening stones, wards etc...). Just go to a city. If blacksmiths got a portable anvil Alchemists would want a portable alchemy lab. And can you imagine your character lugging around a huge 400 pound anvil?
Well as an extremely strong Orc Warrior yes I think i could easily throw one into my backpack and not even notice it!
More to the point the amount of times Ive bought mats from the ah then had to run (and waste time) to the forge in org which is miles away then go back to the ah etc. A portable Anvil would save a huge amount of time and trouble in the long run.
Alliance are for eating!
Don't play with your food.

Not a valid arguement, what if you suddenly, in a dungeon with your friends encounter a locked chest. You have the mats, but can't craft a skeleton key because you need an anvil to make it? The only thing i miss it for is for the keys. Maybe not even an anvil, just a portable keymaker.. or remove dependency on keys alltogether

Or come prepared? If you the sense to bring all the mats, why not the items instead?

Maybe go to Thunderbluff instead since the AH, mailbox and anvil/forge are much closer to each other there. And if you think running around to different points within a city is a waste of time then why don't we just remake the cities to a 10x10 square since then everything will be within arms reach.

The same argument would then be used for "portable vendors" because we can run out of ammo and/or reagents of any kind when in an instance.
I do not think Blizzard should introduce items that "compensate" for lack of preparations since that makes many people even more lazy.
