0. A Fish-only Cooking Guide 06.09.2008 08:34:35 PDT
Here's a simple cooking guide which allows players to become master cookers only by using fish products.
If you want to become a skilled fisherman and don't know what to do with all the fish you catch, you can simply send it all to an alt for leveling cooking or sell as a "ultra-fast cooking skill-up pack".
Since to become a master fisherman it doesn't matter what you fish but for how long, I hope the information I've collected can help you sort out how much and what types of fish you can get to increase your own or someone else's cooking skill.
To simplify the guide, I have not included any recipes aquired by questing or looting, nor I have mentioned more than two fishing zones for each faction.
The only raw products which can't be catched while fishing are to fill the gap between skill points 160-175 and for the artisan cooking quest. Wherever it's possible I've added more than one recipe to choose from for maximum use of all the fish you catch.
190 - 225:
Mithril Head Trout (35-40 Raw Mithril Head Trouts)
<Fishing supplies> vendor recipe; Fishing zones: Arathi Highlands, Feralas, Dustwallow Marsh, Stranglethorn Vale
Sagefish Delight (35-40 Raw Greater Sagefish, 35-40 Hot Spices)
<Cooking supplies> vendor recipe; Fishing zones: Stranglethorn Vale, Alterac Mountains
225:
Clamlette Surprise quest:
12 Giant Eggs – Loot from most level 42-55 vultures and owlkins
10 Zesty Clam Meat – Loot from most level 40-55 marine NPCs, mainly in Azshara
20 Alterac Swiss – Sold by <Cheese Vendors>
Artisan Cooking
225 - 250:
Fillet of Redgill (25 Raw Redgills)
Kelsey Yance <Cook> recipe (Booty Bay); Fishing zones: Feralas, Western Plaguelands
250 - 275:
Poached Sunscale Salmon (25 Raw Sunscale Salmon)
Gikkix <Fisherman> recipe (Steamwheedle Port); Fishing zones: The Hinterlands, Feralas (can’t be fished during the night)
Nightfin Soup (25 Raw Nightfin Snappers, 25 Refreshing Spring Water)
Gikkix <Fisherman> recipe (Steamwheedle Port); Fishing zones: The Hinterlands, Feralas (can’t be fished during the day)
275 - 300:
Mightfish Steak (25 Large Raw Mightfish, 25 Hot Spices, 25 Soothing Spices)
Feralas <Trade suppliers>recipe; Fishing zones: The Bay of Storms in Azshara

Great guide! Also getting the whole 300-375 can be found at this one site, since all the keylogger stuff im not going to post the web address since people will just go crazy paranoid.
the site can be found by going to wow wiki, searching fishing then scrolling all the way down and clicking on the fishing/cooking guide from The Noob School website. ;)

Since when is bread a fish? :)
You could just as well use brilliant small fish from level 1. No need to make bread.
And the full guide on where to fish and how to cook it from the powerleveling guides:

Getting the ingredients for the bread takes about 3 seconds, catching 40 small fish takes about 8-10 minutes. And if that disturbs you so much you can always imagine the bread is shaped in the form of a fish. :)
Regarding the powerleveling guide, I was not aware of it, however, mine is oriented for players who wish to become master fishermen and don't know what to do with all the fish.
If someone wants to start both cooking and fishing from zero, then they might find the other guide more useful.
I can only claim that my guide requires as less raw fish as possible, minimizing the time you'll spend fishing. According to my roguh calculations a player who reaches 300 skill points in fishing can supply at least two more players with products enough for them to become artisan cooks. Whether they will be your alts, friends or players who've paid you - that's up to you! ;)

It was just that your heading is "Fish-only".
And then your guide start with something that isn't a fish :)
And if you are not fishing yourself, you are getting the fish from AH.
So you might as well buy an extra 35 fish :)
Sure, the bread mats are proably cheaper and always available.
If you are fishing you will get plenty of smallfish and then there is no need for doing the bread.
Also you might want to include the original guide tip on getting the Zesty Clam meat:
For the clam meat go to Steamwheedle Port in Tanaris and kill the Turtles. They will drop Big Mouth Clams at a good rate, which contain Zesty Clam Meat.
The guide also have directions to the Cheese vendors that are easiest to access.
