Mod subject of this week
Auction Mods
Auctioneer – What needs to be said about this mod? It practically is the only addon you need if you use the auction house a lot. It allows you to scan the auction house and collect data on the prices of everything. The information is then displayed in the tooltip when you hover over an item.

Auction Snatch – Create a shopping list for yourself to automatically search for when you visit the auction house. Great for finding rare world drops or stuff you regularly buy.

Auctionator – An alternative to auctioneer which shows a list of all the auctions of an item when you select it for auction and then provides a good buyout price. Also allows you to sell off multiple stacks of an item quickly with one click.

AuctionMoney - Displays the minimum amount of income you can expect from your active auctions. The maximum amount of income you can expect from your active auctions. The guaranteed amount of income you can expect from your active auctions. The number of successful auctions.

Divisor - Shows you how much each item in a stack costs at the auction house. For example, if there were 5 motes of fire available for a 12g 50s buyout, Divisor would inform you that each mote of fire would cost you 2g 50s, and that 10 of them would cost you 25g.

Siena's Gem Viewer - SGV lets you: easily find gems on AH, create search filters (rarity, socket color, bonus filters), know actual minimal bid and buyout values for gems, run search for specific gem, see number of specific gems (count(gem) group by Gem's name).

Interview with an AddOn Developer
Name and Realm, (US or EU?) Lyn, EU-Khaz'goroth
How long have you been playing WoW / creating Addons? I've been playing WoW since US open beta... first with an undead rogue, then with release I switched to the alliance and playing a night elf rogue.
I created my first addon about almost a year ago... when I tried to make CML (an old mod by rdji, who doesn't play anymore) to work without Ace library. Other than that, I released my UI on WoWInterface.
How and why did you get involved in creating addons? I got to the point where I thought "what does this library do?" and so I replaced some addons with simple things like Aloft with evl_Nameplates etc. Then I decided to rewrite CML from scratch (using evl_Clock as base) and added my old stuff for the additional mail and xp display.
What addons have you created so far? LynStats, LynLocation, ... a layout for haste's oUF, a ButtonFacade skin with the textures of zork/rothar and my LynUI.
Are you a professional programmer or did you learn the Lua language informally by yourself? Myself and still in the learning process.
What are your thoughts on frameworks? If you use many addons which are using the same frameworks they are good.
What are your thoughts on the addon community in Europe/US (pick wherever you are from)? Uff.. I try not to be a big part of it.. 'cause I sometimes get frustrated when I read what people are posting in the forums..
Why do you create mostly minimalistic addons? I don't need fancy option windows etc..
There is usually a reason behind a name. Why Lyn? Lyn is the name of my rogue. Even if I don't play this rogue anymore.. I still like it very much.
I can see you got into the WotLK beta. Enjoying the experience so far? Any other addon developers you talk to on it? WotLK is nice.. I like they took the viking style.. it's really cool and some of the new areas are really really sweet.
About addon developers: Currently I am mostly talking to p3lim which helps me to fix my really bad written oUF layout x)
What addon could you simply not play the game without? oChat :D
What are you planning for the future as your next project? Fix my oUF layout, then starting concepts for the 8. version of my UI.
What changes would you like to see Blizzard make in relation to addons and the interface? Or what could they have done better? Chatscroll would be really cool. Also mouse wheel zooming for the minimap. Only some small things. In general, the standard interface is really nice. And as Blizzard said, they always look through the addons which are published and if they like it, they add it. Haha.
Anything you would like to get off your chest or say before we end this interview? Mh.. not really :D
Macro of this week
Name: Language toggle (between 2 languages, duh)
Author: Zuo
Macro:
Q u o t e:
/script if DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME.editBox.language == "Common" then tolang="Draenei" else tolang="Common" end DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME.editBox.language=tolang; DEFAULT_CHAT_FRAME:AddMessage("Now speaking "..tolang);
Change "Common" to "Orcish" if you are horde. And change "Draenei" to your racial language.
Added a dontSave flag that'll prevent the icon from being stored, this is only applied to traps... speaking of which traps will show the icon of the actual trap now instead of frost the frost trap one
Added in Bazaar support
Changed anchors to be shown by default so you have to configure them first and hopefully less people complaining
