Here we have provided you with some information to help you with your new Beta key, or information and a point of contact if you are expecting one and still have not received it.

You have just received an e-mail invitation to Beta test Wrath of the Lich King
Congratulations! Firstly, we recommend you make sure the mail in question is really from us and is not fraudulent. Here are some pointers to help you identify your mail as a real EU Beta invitation email from Blizzard:
  • The mail that is sent to you is written in 4 languages: English, German, French and Spanish
  • The sender of this mail appears to be: WoW Expansion Beta (WoWExpansionBeta@blizzard.com)
If you are uncertain of the email origin, instead of clicking on a potentially fraudulent link or deleting an actual Beta invitation you are welcome to contact us by either phone (http://www.wow-europe.com/fr/support/accountbilling.html) or email (wowbetabilling-eu@blizzard.com).

Here are some other links to threads to help you identify whether it is a real Blizzard email:Once you're certain you have a real invitation, we invite you to visit here: (https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/) and click on "Upgrade account." (In fact, it is safer to click on this link here than any link in your email, if you remain uncertain of safety!) Please read and review the EULA for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta test, and then click "Accept" only if you accept it.

Then, on the next page, enter your account name and password and the Beta key you acquired in the invitation email. Note: if you have changed your password recently, you may need to use the old password.

If you can't upgrade your account this way, please try logging on through the normal account management page first. Once logged in through there, repeat the above steps at (https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/) If this also does not work, please contact us to find out if your account is currently eligible for the Beta test. You can contact us either by phone (http://www.wow-europe.com/fr/support/accountbilling.html) or email (wowbetabilling-eu@blizzard.com).

Note: To participate in the Beta test, you must have a valid World of Warcraft: The Burning Crusade subscription that was active on July 15th, 2008.

Hooray, your account is upgraded!
Congratulations, you're now a lot closer to playing in the Beta. Now you need to download and install the Beta game client.

To do so simply click on "Download client" at (https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/)

Once you have downloaded the client and installed it, you will need to download all the current Beta patches. There have been a lot of these, and some are quite big, so this may take quite some time.

If you encounter problems while installing the client or to connect to servers test, please contact our Technical Support by posting in the forum: (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?sid=2003&forumId=9353883) or by sending an e-mail to wowbetatech@blizzard.com.

The client has downloaded and you are ready to play!
Well, almost. You now need to either create a new character (for example, a level 55 Death Knight) or copy one of your characters over from the live realms. If you are still downloading the Beta client, you can actually start your character copy right away -- then maybe it will be ready to play at the same time your Beta client is installed.

To copy your character, go back to the EU Beta page (https://beta.wow-europe.com/expansion/) and click on "Copy a Character." It will ask for your account name and password. Then just click "Copy your Character" and select a character of your choice. The EU Beta realm is called Coldarra.

Note: You only have 4 character copies available and there are currently no plans to increase the amount of character copies, so please consider thinking carefully about which characters you want to copy and when. It might be a good idea to log into the live game first, and make sure your character is loaded with all your gold and useful materials before you transfer it. Think of it as a holiday for your character! ;-) Note also, there are currently no premade characters available to copy to the Beta realm.

The average waiting time for your character copy is variable, so it may be hard to predict when the character copy will be complete. We hope you can be patient in the meantime, and perhaps try making a Death Knight character before your copied character is ready to play.

Client installed? Yes! Characters ready? Yes
The icy wastes of Northrend await you! To connect to the Beta test realm you will need to enter your account name and password. Please disregard the request to enter an email address, as this does not apply to the EU Beta at this time. Just use your normal account name and password. You may need to use your old password if you changed it recently.

The Beta test is an unstable environment!
You need to know in advance that just like the new game content, the servers are also in a Beta state and are thus currently not as stable as you may be used to on our normal live realms. We remind you that this is a Beta test and lots of bugs and issues exist. Because of this, you may find yourself getting frustrated or disappointed at first. But we ask that you persevere and try to remain patient.

If you do find the unstable Beta environment is not suitable for you, then you might like to consider taking a break away from it until further along in the Beta test.

Bug Reporting
If you experience any bug in game, we ask that you please don't post it up on the forums and instead enter a bug report using the in-game bug report tool. This is accessed by either typing /bug or clicking the B icon on your minimap or holding Alt and Left-clicking on an item.

Beta Forum
Please feel free to come and discuss the Beta in our special English Beta forum: (http://forums.worldofwarcraft.com/board.html?forumId=7555627&sid=2003). Our English Community team is active on this forum, answering questions and posting up relevant information as and when we are able to. Please remember to follow our forum posting rules, which can be found here: (http://forums.wow-europe.com/thread.html?topicId=10701098&sid=1)

Suggestions
You are welcome to post up your suggestions for the Beta in the forum, and we only ask that you prefix your thread title with [Suggestion] to clearly identify what the thread is about.

=============================================================

You have not yet received an invitation to the Beta test
Do not be discouraged, it may still be coming! :-) As we have stated, the invitations are sent in successive waves and we can not communicate in advance the the dates that invitations are sent out. It's up to you how often you check it, but we advise you to check your email inbox regularly and especially check the Spam folder as sometimes our email invitations may end up in there. We also recommend that you check the email address associated with your account in the account management is both valid and correct.

If you participated in the Opt-in draw, we remind you that the keys are sent randomly, and that even early registration does not necessarily mean that you receive an invitation. Sorry, but we do not have millions of invitations as only a small amount of people can fit on our Beta realms. Additionally, the Opt-in is not the only way you can receive a Beta key. Our official fan sites might also be running competitions that give you a chance to receive one. So be sure to check them all out and see if you have luck there. You can view our official English fan sites here: (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/links/fansites.html)

BlizzCon 2007
For holders of a key from BlizzCon 2007, we remind you that these keys cannot be used on the EU Beta.We invite you to contact our subscription service so that they can exchange your US beta key for an EU one. You can contact them by either phone (http://www.wow-europe.com/fr/support/accountbilling.html) or email (wowbetabilling-eu@blizzard.com).

Remember as we have previously announced, your key is only for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta and will not be for any other Blizzard product. So please register your code immediately if you haven't already. Full details on how to register your code can be found at the following page: (http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/misc/beta-signup.html)

Worldwide Invitational 2008
Similarly if you went to the Worldwide Invitational 2008 in Paris, and if you have haven't received your key yet, please contact us at the same place: by either phone (http://www.wow-europe.com/fr/support/accountbilling.html) or email (wowbetabilling-eu@blizzard.com).

Remember as we have previously announced, your key is only for the Wrath of the Lich King Beta and will not be for any other Blizzard product. Unless they plan on a second EU server, I hope not. Coldarra is pretty much full atm. :/

I've experiments to run, there is research to be done,
on the people who are still alive. ♥

Why do the beta keys have to be random?

I know some players who have been very good beta testers for other games but have no way to make Blizzard aware of it.

Even myself, I don't really want to play the beta (loss of surprise and awe effect), I might say I am C++ programmer for a living, have cooperated with another MMO in the past, beta test stuff, am in constant contact with that MMO developers and test things in (their) game together with them as I have an uncanny and unique trend at getting every possible bug and nasty game behavior in my face :D.

But if I had to tell that to Blizzard, there's no way that I know, it's all random, in the end you'll get a cluster of real beta testers who care, while the others are just "randoms".

Best TBC Feral druid itemization up to SWP

Tank: from Mar 2007 rep weapon to Mar 2007 SSC weapon
DPS: from Nagrand Ring of Blood quest, to S2 arena weapon, to badge weapon
They really tried hard!

I believe they pick up accounts randomly so everybody has a fair chance to join the Beta phase of the expansion though some players like you with extended experience over the years be left outside, although they would be more to their benefit to have you as a beta tester.
You may have noticed that there is no a questionnaire that will be useful to provide information about the kind of beta testers they would like to have although would be a smart move. Myself similar to you I have great experience on games of that genre since I was player and Dungeon Master(old title for D&D settings)
in several game universes like Forgotten Realms,Ravenloft,Dragonlance,Greyhawk,Dark Sun. All MMO today are using game mechanics based on those games. Would be great to give some of my experience and ideas in beta but you see it's totally random like the loot ;-)

I also have 3 active accounts, no luck so far.

Really think they should give more key's to WoW communities like Cromfel.battlefield.fi, they've been producing good suggestions and "theorycraft" for 3 years;p

Its just too bad that they give beta keys out random. Because you dont have alot of change of gettint a beta key. And there weren't alot of contests to win beta keys so that too bad :(

It's kinda silly. the fact that people who just started playing and opt in could get a beta key.
Not saying that people like me who played since day 1 couldn't get a key.

But it seems i've been unlucky twice so far.

Also; I hope this will stop the help beta keys threads.

Read the original post, there is information there including contact details if you're needing extra help. Remember the "temporary Blizzard account" is for the US only and that is why it is not mentioned on our EU Beta site as it does not apply to the EU region at this time.

I got an invite this morning in the Spam folder. Since I was dubious to its origins, I did as suggested here, and copy the key down, then follow the links from here.

It worked though, so I urge those who automatically delete their spam folders to double check before doing so.
