I am slightly sick “woo”.
Mod subject of this week
Random Mods
LathsMod – Creates a small frame to show the time left until diminishing returns are no longer in effect. Plans to create color coding for half, quarter and immune diminishing returns the target is under.

GrapeVine - This mod is designed to make it easier for multiboxers to communicate with people that don't know which character to whisper. Simply install Grapevine on the clients of each multiboxed character (including the relay target) and add your relay targets to the WoW Friends list. Then just tick the [ ]GV box next to the name of each friend you wish to relay whispers to. Then when anyone whispers one of your characters, the main character will see the relayed whisper (as in the screenshot).

Name and Realm, (US or EU?) Ackis, currently on Illidan US
How long have you been playing WoW / creating Addons? I started playing WoW since about 3 months after release. I've taken breaks between it now and then for numerous reason.
I started creating addons in September of 2007.
How and why did you get involved in creating addons? I'm a completionist and enjoy having 100% of everything done. One thing that I was missing were certain recipes. I found a nice mod called FG Trade Lacker however it was slightly out of date and it didn't have updated information. I looked at the code and thought to myself that it would be easy to modify this. I started modifying that code and then realized it would be easier to do a rewrite. Eventually I recreated the mod completely, including the database and came out with Ackis Recipe List.
What addons have you created so far? The most "famous" addon of mine if you can call it that is Ackis Recipe List. I've also written Querier which allows you to search for item or spell links based off of ID, and allows you to search through spell IDs based off of name. I wrote that as a utility for myself basically. Also wrote a mod called AltTabber which will play a ready check sound regardless of your sound settings. So you can play the game with sound off (as do I) yet still hear a ready check sound. Next came BigWigs Kalecgos Health which shows the health of all the entities during the Kalecgos encounter. And finally I came out with an updated version of Chuck Norris Facts (I'm so sorry) for a competition thinking that the original author had abandoned it. Turns out he didn't so we're now working together on that project. I've also helped maintain numerous addons. I took Tekkub's About panel and turned it into a library for my own use (with his permission) and I'm working on a few new addons now (one for Wrath and one hopefully before wrath).
Are you a professional programmer or did you learn the Lua language informally by yourself? I have a Computing Science degree, but my job doesn't entail any programming. I learnt LUA by myself and with the help of the community.
How did you get involved in Ace? I knew what a framework was, and like the ideals of the Ace community (optimized and efficient code). I figured it was as good of place to start as any.
What are your thoughts on the addon community in Europe/US (pick wherever you are from)? I don't think the US/EU communities are separate. In fact we have people from Asian servers on IRC. It's one big developer community which for the most part is excellent. There's a lot of people who help each other, review code, etc... but it's become more than that. We joke around, get to know each other, etc. I'm going to BlizzCon and I'm looking forward to meeting a lot of fellow authors.
You are probably most famous for AckisRecipeList. Why did you create this addon? I liked to get all the possible recipes I could for my character, and I was always writing down things, where to get them, etc... I decided that an in-game list would be excellent for myself and that's how it started.
What are your thoughts on the Curse Client, Premium and non-Premium? I'm concerned with how the implementation will go down, however the Curse team has some excellent people working on it. I've talked with the Curse devs, told them my concerns, etc and they seem to answer my questions truthfully. It's still a bit to early to see, but if everything works according to plan, it's going to be a great new system. I don't know all the features between Premium/Non-premium yet so I'm not fully sure on that yet. They aren't the first company to do that however so I don't think they should be getting too much flak over it.
You created an addon called ChuckNorrisFacts. Who would win in a fight, Chuck Norris or God? God. And for the record I didn't create it, it was created by others I just updated it a little bit.
As an author who regularly uses WoWAce, what do you think about the planned changes in infrastructure of the site and the way addons are handled? I'm really looking forward to it actually. The Ace system is being overloaded and needs a revamp, and I really like the features of CurseForge.
What addon could you simply not play the game without? In a raiding environment it would be SRaidFrames and Spellbinder. They both make my life so much easier.
What are you planning for the future as your next project? I have two projects on the go right now:
1) Welfare Epics: I was tired of having to sort through the heroic badge vendors to see things applicable to my character so I decided to write an addon that filters items you can't use, and categorizes everything else. It's still in alpha, but it will add tabs on vendor windows for Armour (then it will break it down into cloth, etc.).
2) Collectinator: With the changes in Wrath on pets and mounts I decided to make this a Wrath only add-on. Basically it's a huge checklist for which mini-pets, mounts, tabards, etc you're missing. The etc will be a "fun items" category which I'll need to flush out a lot more.
What changes would you like to see Blizzard make in relation to addons and the interface? Or what could they have done better? More official blizzard documentation, more interaction from blizzard blues in the dev community.
Anything you would like to get off your chest or say before we end this interview? Unban my forum account please?
That macro will cast on your mouseover target if its a friend, if its an enemy or you don't have a mouseover, it will cast on your target if your target is a friend, if not, it will cast on yourself.
Neither the authors nor Blizzard are responsible for the content of any Addon or any site which is linked in this post. We do our best to only provide links to “allowed” AddOns and websites whose content is free of material which might not fall under Blizzard’s EULA and/or ToS. Always use a software which scans for viruses and/or keyloggers/Trojans; AddOns and the sites they come from are used at your own risk.
If you see a link or AddOn which is not behaving the way it should, please let us know, so we can review.

as always an awsome episode ;)
Q u o t e: In WotLK sap will work on pretty much everything with a brain. It's a huge nerf to Horde Rogues, since they won't be able to use it against Alliance in PvP any more.

Great as always, i love you Xeno ^_^
aanyway it might be my bad english that's tricking myself... but i saw this in the kGo description...
Q u o t e: A grid based addon for holding spells you is only be using out of combat and not very often (i.e. buffs). The grid is brought up using a keybind and the grid is navigated using the WASD keys and selected by the F key. Early beta release so the final look and extra fancy bits have not been coded yet.
Is it my bad or what? O.o

I copied it almost straight from the curse comment. Add flu to that and you get a half assed description.
I can't even edit it :<
Gets rid of the links.
Replace "you is" with "which you will". Makes sense then :D
