0. Content Patch before Wrath of the Lich King 25/08/2008 17:01:36 PDT

With the release of Wrath of the Lich King approaching, we wanted to provide you with some important information. In preparation for the expansion, we will be issuing a new content patch in the coming weeks. Much like the patch made available shortly before The Burning Crusade's release, this content patch is designed to bridge current game content with that of the expansion and will contain some exciting changes and additions.

We have outlined some of the larger features scheduled to release with the patch below:

New class spells and talents.
Barbershops in capital cities.
Zeppelin towers outside of Orgrimmar and Tirisfal Glades.
Stormwind Harbour.
In-game guild calendar.
Hunter pet skill revamp.
New profession: Inscription.
Two brand-new Arenas featuring challenging new layouts, terrain hazards, and moving obstacles:
- Orgrimmar Arena.
- Dalaran Arena.

As mentioned above, this is not a comprehensive list, just some of the major highlights. We’ll post the full patch notes as soon as they’re available.

Regarding Inscription, please note that all Burning Crusade players will be able to select Inscription as one of their two professions and level up to a skill level of 375 with it. Upon the release of Wrath of the Lich King, players who purchase and install the expansion will be able to continue leveling in Inscription and the other professions beyond 375.

I wonder, will it break all addons, like pre-tbc patch did?

Before TBC when similar patch happened, while people were testing new talents and trying to replace addons that couldn't be ported, lots of them stopped raiding so it halted all progression. It would be nice if this didn't happen this time.

Allow players to roll gnome priests.
- every playable race in the game can tank, heal and dps, except for gnomes.
- many gnomes in gnomeregan have heal and mana burn spells.

My concern is if the arena season will end with the release of the patch, or if Season 4 will last forever.

I hope that the patch will come out soon. The game feels pretty stuck so close to the expansion, and this might be the change that will give the game that little extra :)

As it is there will be a new tower near each existing one. The one at Tirisfal will be a different model with only one dock. The one outside Orgrimmar has the same design if I recall correctly, but on the other side of the gate.

Are you letting us level up the proffession prior to LK?

No, scratch that, cos technically that would be BC content since you won't need WotLK for it...

Interesting, although judging from the beta info I've been reading, I don't think some of the talent trees are ready to be released yet.

So, it could be that "coming weeks" is more like 2-3 months

This is true, however i'm guessing the builds Blizzard work on internally are several weeks ahead of the ones tested on the beta realms.
