Schwick has done this mod topic but I decided to do it again since new mods have been released since then.
Mod subject of this week
Questing Mods
Questhelper is quite possibly the first addon mentioned to anyone looking for a quest mod. It works in conjunction with Cartographer or TomTom to provide a route and/or arrow to your next quest. It even points you back to the person who gave you the quest when you are done. It calculates the most efficient route to take so that you don’t end up doing more running than you need to do.

Lightheaded is my preferred addon. It simply adds comments on quests from wowhead to a menu beside your quest log. The comments usually have clickable co-ordinates included as well so you can add a waypoint and arrow if you have Cartographer or TomTom installed. The comments also help by giving more detailed descriptions of what to do or what quests can also be picked up which you can do at the same time as a certain quest.

Carbonite Quest is an addon which is very close to Questhelper but with many more options. Among these is the map which draws most people to this addon. It is almost like a google map, once you chose your quest it creates a line to your destination on a minimap type map. The map then zooms in as you move towards your destination changing from world map to minimap. It also includes advanced options for Battlegrounds and a Kill on Sight list.

Seeing your quest description and list of quests at the same time can seem cluttered. Doublewide is a simple addon which pulls your description out to the right making it easier to see what your quest is about.

Getting bored of that quest tracker? nQuestLog is a replacement for the quest tracker with many more features than the original. This addon creates a “minion” frame with all your quest locations in rows. The locations can then be clicked to show a menu of the quests for that area and a tracker of progress beside them. The quests are coloured by difficulty and clicking a quest provides a more detailed description and info from other addons such as Lightheaded comments and/or clickable co-ordinates to the questgiver if TomTom or Cartographer is installed.

Interview with an AddOn Developer
Name and Realm. Mayen, Icecrown-US (Horde)
How long have you been playing WoW / creating Addons? Started playing in March 2005, first addon I released was in February 2006 or so.
How and why did you get involved in creating addons? I started due to the 1.9 Patch which added multi-queues to battlegrounds and broke a PvP addon that myself and some friends were using, so I fixed it up and started to add new features and such and was told that I should submit it to one of the mod sites which ultimately I did and that became SSPVP, just have gone from there really.
What addons have you created so far? I can't really list them all since last I checked there was about 30+, the popular ones are mostly Afflicted, SSPVP2 and SSArena Frames
Are you a professional programmer or did you learn the Lua language informally by yourself? Nope I just do it as a hobby, before playing WoW I was doing PHP and Java so learning Lua wasn't that hard and I had things like Blizzards code or other peoples addons for help on how to do things.
What are your thoughts on the Ace, Cosmos and CTMod Frameworks? Don't really have much experience with Cosmos or CTMod so I can't speak for those, but in general while frameworks are nice because they can make life easier when doing things like creating a GUI they are a bit over-hyped and can lead to newer authors never learning when not to use a library or how to do basic things like registering events or slash commands.
What are your thoughts on the addon community in Europe/US (pick wherever you are from)? It's great, can pretty much always find someone who knows a certain aspect of the API very well and the community in general is helpful for both experienced and inexperienced developers.
You are another author who has more addons than I have umm... well you have a lot of addons... do they affect your gameplay time? Not really, most of my addons are at the point where they don't need any new features or bug fixes so I don't have to actually work on them and when I don't have free time I just don't work on them so it's never been an issue.
A lot of your addons are PvP/Arena based. Does this reflect your choice of gameplay? When I make a new addon, it's typically because I need it for whatever I'm doing so while in PvE I only really need a boss mod and a raid frame in PvP I want things like arena frames, enemy timers, focus cast bars, DR tracking and so on.
From screenshots of your UI in some of your addon pages, do you prefer to use all your own addons and the Blizzard UI than to use addons made by other people? Maybe half of the addons I use are mine, but I like the default UI more so the addons you may see in screen shots are small changes like party/player/target health, focus cast bars and other things.
What addon could you simply not play the game without? Clique in PvE, and probably Afflicted in PvP.
Has patch 2.4 affected you in any way? Mostly it's affected Afflicted which was overhauled to take advantage of all the new fun features that the combat log now provides.
What are you planning for the future as your next project? At this moment I've been working on a Lifebloom rolling mod, may play around with a PvP trinket detecting mod for fun.
What changes would you like to see Blizzard make in relation to addons and the interface? Or what could they have done better? Pretty happy with what Blizzard has done, would be nice to get better support for arena frames but nothing thats a deal breaker.
Macro of this week
Name: The Priest Buff Macro
Author: Xenoronin
Macro:
Q u o t e:
#showtooltip
/castsequence reset=target Power Word: Fortitude, Shadow Protection, Divine Spirit, Inner Fire, Touch of Weakness, Fear Ward
Trying to find all them buffs when resurrected in PvP was a real pain, so I threw them into a macro. The most mana inefficient come first for the Spirit Heal and the lowest mana cost are last. You can buff others too since it resets to the start if you target someone else and the first 3 can be cast on others.
Did you know?
The extra bars above your experience bar and at the side were not always there. Telo’s Bottom Bar added these in an addon and Blizzard picked up on it, implementing it into the game in a later patch.
Worth checking out
Nothing on the Interface forum this week of real interest :/
Added an option to reset the waypoint arrow location, and a toggle for waypoints announcements

The European one would be simply awesome with some blue text every now and again, huh?
Edit: Or maybe even something in green.

I think he is taking into account the IRC channels, wowace's and wowinterface's.
I know what you are pointing at but outside this forum the addon community is quite adequate. A blue would be nice though.
6. Re: Pimp My UI - Episode Sixty Two 08/07/2008 05:59:19 PDT
There will be no PMUI this week.
Reasons why:
New PC. I'm putting it together and it will take a while to set it all up and get WoW reinstalled on it and transfer all the necessary files over to keep PMUI up and running :D.
Don't worry, in my world, this PC is epic!
Bring on more than 5fps in shattrath!
7. Re: Pimp My UI - Episode Sixty Two 11/07/2008 04:53:19 PDT
h@*!hhhhheeeehhhhhhhnnnnnnnneeeeeeeee.......
Sorry i forgot to take my jaw off the floor :D
80 fps in shattrath with everything including the improved graphics macro turned up to the highest, averaging around 100 - 200 everywhere else.
WeGame in HD mode is even running perfectly smoothly :D:D:D:D:D:D
So. very. very. happy.
But i'm back to this old rust bucket to finish off PMUI since the new one doesn't have the files and still has a few teething problems.
Hmmm... there was no point to this post at all, except to boast :D
