There are some tips for this encounter I can offer, whilst they never worked with me (I'm not really geared for the encounter yet), I hope they can be of use for you.

Firstly, ensure you have all members of you raid fully flasked with food buffs. This is something that goes without saying, I'm sure.

You need to note that hogger uses three key abilities in the encounter, of which he uses differently from phase to phase. Since no one to my knowledge has ever reached the third (and final) phase, my knowledge is limited at that point. You need to watch out in phase one for the Head Butt ability. It will stun an enemy, rendering it unable to move or attack for 2 seconds. This ability can be used on the main tank, and Hogger will show no mercy in how he uses this. In phase one he only uses this ability, so it's not too bad if you keep the DPS up and the main tank alive.

Phase 2, Hogger continues the headbut spam, and begins casting Rushing Charge, which increases his movement speed by 60% for 3 seconds and causes him to inflict additional damage on his next attack. This can be a real killer if your healers are not prepared, as when coupled with the Head Butt (they can be used in conjunction) it can be devestating. Keep the HoTs up and be sure to Bandage where needed, this is a long and arduous fight and healers will need all the mana they can get to keep up your tank.

Phase 3.. who knows, if you know then do tell!

Face it.. The Lich King is just a mom's boy compared to Hogger.. He Corpse Camped our whole raid for like 20 hours! And we only got him to 97%! I think he is sorta easy %¤&/#!.

But it is still not freaking possible for The Lich King to possibly be any better than Hogger.. Imagine next expansion.. World of Warcraft: Revenge of Hogger the Über Evil Gnoll of all times! and yes.. that is a pretty long name for a expansion, i know.. but RoHtÜEGoat, isnt a bad sort name for it, is it ? But that is a sidestep.. Now back to Hogger.. or The one whos name is not to be named. I heard that it was actually him blowing up Archimonde for being a Epix Phail at the world tree and not the wisps!.. Is that true ?

Every night when Chuck Norris goes to sleep, he checks his closet for Hogger.

i hear hogger brushes his teeth, with Varok Saurfang's bones!

Don't try him with a pug, thats for sure. We had some attempts, but none of our healers could survive through his Bone Throws. We eventually tried to bug him out by having our tanks kite him to Westfall so Gryan Stoutmantle could show what he is made of. We were in for a surprise. If you try to pull him out of his patrol-area, he calls for additional gnolls which swiftly proceeds to gnaw up your healers, then moving on to DPS, then backing off to let Hoggeroni himself play with your tanks.

We found pieces of the warrior at the bottom of the lake, some bear skin in a tree and the poor DK was found dead underneath the feet of Goldtooth.

I heard a story about a guild in my server.
They co raid with a Horde guild and they reached Phase 3 !!!!!
But we never had any news from them again. :(
Sad story.

A rumor says … that Hooger open up the earth beneath them and lava took them away.

You can't kill Hogger though... No matter how many times you defeat him, he'll be back in 15 minutes... I think he's abusing the Caverns of time.

Clearly you lie

You need to go to stormwind city, invite some friends, then convert your party to a raid. Then invite 35 more people to the raid. Make sure its full, then and only then go and try to kill hogger. He is a nasty piece of work. Some people say he is a GM in fancy dress although they do prefer to be ogres mostly.

Try with a 40 man raid group, ideally with some level 80's for support.. and then kill him.

Job done .

ps. yes i'm joking. but please do try with some friends or other people similar level to yourself, he was not meant to be soloed easily although it is possible if you clear all the mobs and can kite him at all.

btw, speaking of hogger... :)

Whats the furthest anyones ever kited him without him dying?

I got him most of the way through burning steppes once.. poor fella was very scared so i relented and let him go back to his homeland :)
