I'm not sure if you know what Multiplexing (Boxing) is, For those who don't know read the below for my personal description skip the next few paragraphs if you already know.

Multiplexing, What is it?

Multiplexing is when someone uses either a program or a "splitter" to allow them to play 5 characters at the same time. For example, the user will press Thunderbolt rank X on the emitter (First character chosen) soon after the 4 other characters will cast the same spell.

What is "Boxing?"

Boxing is a sport (Ofc) But the term "Boxing refers to a Box, e.g cardboard box. And when 5 of the same class do the same thing, you could call this "Boxing"

The effect of Multiplexing

Multiplexing has a huge effect on PvP, You must be wondering "Why?"
Well firstly it will take either 5 random people or less than 5 people with a skilled healer to take down the 4-5 players (Box-ers). lets say the enemy that is Boxing is using 5 shamans. Those 5 shamans will be buffed by around 15 different buffs plus the 5 searing totems hitting for 200 in the least. Imagine getting hit by 5 chain lightings and a flood of Thunderbolts, You would only be able to survive with either more than 15 000 health or Good timing with cloak of shadows.

Secondly, Imagine your defending a flag in arathi basin, You and one other.
5 shamans rush towards you, before you can react there already is an arsenal of totems and 5 chain lightings on there way.

Luckily you rez at the spirit rez-er within 10 seconds and you can make your way back to the flag.
The first thing in your head is to interrupt the enemy which is trying to capture the flag. So you cash a single target spell, Sadly there are 5 Grounding totems protecting the flag capturer, and unless your a mage or hunter; there just isn't enough time to stop them capturing the flag.

Do you see this as fair?

They won't ban it, it makes them 5x the amount of money from that one person. They've said it's fine before, and they'll say it again.

Personally, I don't care either way. If someone wants to spend that amount of money blowing stuff up, props to them.

AFK'ing in BG's doesn't affect you personally. Yet you feel its your right to report people who do it?

Kill the leader!

Once again; maybe if you actually read my post you would know that im talking about someone controlling 4-5 characters; and changing the course of a BG.

Kill the front character (the leader and main) and you've disabled the rest of them.
You just have to figure out which one is the leader, which shouldn't be that hard.

The BG scenery you mention has never ever happened to me. Only time I´ve been "negatively" affected was when I was trying to capture a spirit tower in the Bone Wastes for a daily quest. In rides a multiboxer (plexer, w/e) and I die faster than I could press my CS hotkey.

I highly doubt we´ll see very many multiboxers around, ever. I´ve only seen 3 on my server the whole time I´ve been there.

I wonder, if you manage to find out who the "main" toon is, can you lock down all 5 characters by crowd controlling him?

No difference to a team of 5 players who play together well. Well, there's one, he just presses buttons for 'em all characters.

How is it any different to you getting 4 friends and doing exactly the same thing?

I have in my entire life, seen TWO multiboxers. Both pre-TBC, going into blackrock mountain.

They're not a big problem. Infact they're barely even a small problem.

The way I see it, this is certainly unfair. However, I don't think it should be a bannable offense, simply because it's incredibly rare. I've only seen it a few times through my entire WoW career, and then never in and kind of PvP situation.

Multiplexing seems to be a very expensive thing. First of all, you need to have control over 5 different account, amounting to a hefty subscription fee if you keep it up. Furthermore, you need a computer, or possibly a few, with enough power to handle five games running at once. The simple cost prevents this from being a problem.

Also, in the example situations you've given us, you put us at a disadvantage. In your AB example, you pit 2 of us against 5 of them. Such odds cannot be beaten, even if it should happen to be five seperate people attacking.

In my mind, it's not something that requires to be forbidden or warrants a ban. However, it's certainly annoying, and I won't blame you for hating it.

Oh, by the way. Wouldn't using such a program you are talking about count as botting anyway? That way it's already a bannable offense.

So it takes 5 characters to take down 5 characters? I don't see this as being unfair in the slightest.

Same would happen if 5 shaman controlled by different players took on 2 players, again I don't see this as being unfair.

In my opinion you are looking at it the wrong way, you are classing it as 1 player being overpowered when you should be looking at it as 5 gimped characters.
