I would also like to add that feign death doesn't kill you after 6 minutes, you just get back up. (yeah I tried it :D)

But great guide, I can see you put a lot of effort and time into making it :)

I'm too sexy for my shirt slot!

Focused Fire: I dont really consider it very useful. +2% damage isnt alot, even at 70, and you will be barely using kill command to be honest.
wtf m8? ofc you use kill comand every time its up, dosnt even use global cooldown. so ur saying u shouldnt use a skill that gives u more dps and dosnt trigger gcd or affect any other skill?

Like I said in my first reply.. he made an effort.. but sadly his "guide" is so full of errors that it's embarrasing.

He should delete this thread.. and actually look over the mess he posted.

In the meanwhile all the clueless people are saying "Omg! need sticky!!".
This guide breaths hunTARDS.. don't take all info for good info =)

Well guys i can reply with the following:

1) I am kara-level raider, meaning i have not seen any content beyond that. If playing in 25-mans is highly different from where i am now then i simply have no way of knowing

2) About missing certain talents - if you are raider, you want some talents. If you are soloer / instancer, you want other talents. If you are pvper you want yet other talents. +2% dps increase is useless at content such as heroics and beginning of kara, as there isnt much to take % from. At BT / Hyjal - sure, but thats not ALL the content there is

As i've seen from most of replies people consider this a RAIDING guide, but its not. Its a guide to PLAYING hunter, and raiding with hunter is just a small part. You want a raiding guide - go read other stickies, usually they are named like that. This guide offers people help with playing hunter in general AND beginning to understand what they should do and what people expect from them.

I shall be honest, I did not read it all just made a quick overview and while he is pretty off in raiding speccs etc it IS a pretty good guide for people rerolling hunters and is leveling. Sure there might be flaws here and there but w/e, it covers a pretty broad area of hunting. Chain-trapping, which stats to choose etc. I can't say I agreed with all that he wrote but it is a personal opinion.

Thanks anaraky, thats exactly what i intended my guide to be. I renamed the topic name to represent this more clearly - this is first of all a CASUAL guide, not a raiding guide. And yes, i state in my text, that a lot of info i give is personal based, and best way for people to learn to play hunter is to play the class themselves for some time and figure out their own playstyle and preferences.

Boar.

This is not an "average pet", this is THE tanking pet. Highest threat of all pets, highest armour, second highest health.

Very nice effort and a good attempt to make a guide, and many parts (especially the first ones) can be very informative. However, I don't think many new hunters will fully understand your explanation of kiting. And you use some difficult words at places which a new player wont understand.

The bad part was the talents. Lachien mentioned most of them. And tbh to say that effectiveness sux for pvp and lvling = fail.

Vaneras you should really reconsider the sticky, if the OP don't decide to remove to talent parts.

PS. quiet means silent :P the word you should use is quite

Q u o t e:
Just me that thinks this is really bad? It's so off in places that it's silly.

I hate to be an ass, but I wouldn't advise anyone to follow this guide without checking up with a knowledgable hunter with what you're doing.

Some examples (only really read the spec bit, so going from there):

Focused Fire: I dont really consider it very useful. +2% damage isnt alot, even at 70, and you will be barely using kill command to be honest. Also, dont forget that you ONLY get kill command at lvl 66, so until then this talent is COMPLETELY useless. The only combo would be to use KC + Frenzy (later in tree), but i say just leave this talent. You'd skip a straight 2% DPS increase? Interesting.

Thick Hide: Increases your pets armor and your armor (which also increases pets armor) = a big furry tank by your side... I think the usefullness is pretty obvious :) Yeah, it'd be useful if it made any difference at all, even if you do somehow get hit in raids...

Animal Handler: At start of TBC there was a bug that allowed hunters with this talent to teleport to Azeroth while on flying mounts. Now its fixed. Not worth it, just forget it. As BM, your DPS relies a lot on your pet, you should have points in there for hit.

Ferocious inspiration: +3% damage to party. To 5 people. The only usefullness i can see is if you were in group with at least 3 more dps classes, which can only happen in raids, mainly in 25-man ones. So unless you are 25-man BM raider, skip it imo. rofl? Debatably the most important BM talent (along with SS) and you say skip it?

Catlike reflexes: +9% dodge for pet = +time it lives = +time you live. take it. If you or your pet need to dodge in a raid, then you're doing something very wrong, as are your tanks.

Can't be bothered to go through any more. Seriously, nice effort and all, but you clearly don't know the class well enough to try and write a comprehensive guide like this and people that want advice could actually be worse off for following this.

"This is NOT a raiding hunter guide" This guy isn't making a guide for those people who perhaps know much more about the class than others but, for dummies and casual players. Not for raiders. I think you could've been a bit more tactful in the way you have phrased your sentences though. This guy has done a GREAT job but saying that you hate to be an ass then be an ass is not helpful. Nor is it silly for him to have a different opinion to you.

Awesome thank you mate jus the reference i needed to go from 60-70 . I got a hybrid BM/MM/SV build atm and i do awesome dps and damage 9up to 1500 with an aimed shot crit hit) while my pet takes very minimal damage until 3 or mobs get hold of her. Jus need to sort my gear out now. Feel free to look at my talent build cos it really works for me!!

Very good guide. There is a mistake in BM/MM hybrid talent tree. You need 5 points in Ferocity before you can take Frenzy. Apart from that well done.

What? Where's the tea?
