The purpose of this sticky is to gather all information regarding the 2.3/2.4 patches and beyond. You will find information about the future patches but also information of fixes.

All the information that is provided here is from Blizzard or is from trustworthy sources (exception of chapter 4). Details provided here may, however, change over time.

This topic is updated each week (on Mondays/Tuesdays) (for details see "What's new & changed") and frequently given answers to questions. Feel free to ask questions, but first read all I wrote. Chances are I already discussed the thing you are going to ask about.

1.1 Upcoming patches (General)

1.1.1Q Sometimes I die in mid-air when using a flying mount or flight form -not to mention when I die on a floating rock. Will this ever get changed or fixed?

1.1.1A In a future patch your body will drop to the ground instead of staying on the floating rock. The dying in mid-air is unfortunately a harder cookie to crack, so this fix might take longer.

1.2.4A The Priests' Circle of Healing is still being looked at and being improved. Along with that, Priests' discipline and holy trees are being looked at. Last but not least, the Priests' racials are also being looked at. Also the developers agree that counter-spelling the heals once in spirit of redemption is working as intended; however they agree it's too counter intuitive.

1.3.1Q Will we get new dungeons?

1.3.2Q Any information known about Zul’Aman?

1.3.2A Zul’Aman is filled with Forest Trolls and it will be a 10-man raid instance. Zul'Aman will be a time-based instance. To be able to complete a quest you have a couple of minutes to get from point A to point B (Like the Stratholme time run). The faster you complete it, the better the rewards are. Further more Zul'Aman will feature six bosses; four liberated animal gods (The Bear (Loas), The Eagle (Akil'Zon), The Lynx (Halazzi), The Dragonhawk (Jan'Alai)) and two normal bosses including Zul'Jin and a Witch Doctor. The dungeon will be winged like Naxxramas so you can easily pick which boss you want to do first (exception of the last two bosses). Each wing will take around 45-1 hour with a good group. The loot will be slightly better then Karazhan and it won't require any attunement whatsoever. Because the instance is time-based, it will be a mix for hardcore players as well as casuals. Zul’Aman will not use any reputation whatsoever. The reset timer is 4 days. Zul’Aman can be found in south-eastern Ghostlands.

1.4.3A Blizzard will introduce logical loot to new content (old content will not use this concept). Logical loot means that a mob/boss has a chance to drop what he is wearing. In the past this was already the case with a few mobs/bosses, but now Blizzard will use this concept even more. Zul'Aman will be the first dungeon to use this concept.

1.6.3Q Outland is suppose to be level 58 (and higher) exclusive. Yet I see lower levels roaming Outland. Is this a bug?

1.6.3A No, it’s not a bug. Outland can’t be reached by conventional ways (entering the Dark Portal) when lower level, but people can get summoned there. However, the level 58 requirement may be lifted later on.

1.7.2A Guild banks were originally planned for TBC, but got pushed back. The Guild Bank will be a central place where people can withdraw items and even money from the Guild’s bank. People can also pay their repair-bill from the guild bank. Guild Masters will be able to set permissions to specific persons for the guild bank but it can also be done by guild-rank. The guild bank will come after patch 2.2

Disclaimer: Do note that this is not real information! This is just pure speculation and may not reflect Blizzard’s actual ideas.

It’s no surprise that Blizzard will release second expansion for World of Warcraft in 2008. The question still remains though, what will it contain.


4.1 Speculations (The next expansion)

Northrend

Why?

• The Legion has been crippled since the visit to Outland; Arthas is making his move to strike.
  
• The second biggest threat to Azeroth is the Scourge; it’s time to stop them.
  
• Northrend is the most discussed place since Outland.
  
• In terms of content it would be bigger then Outland.
  
  Why not?
  
• Are we prepared to take on Arthas (aka the Lich King)?
  
  Hints
  
• Some hidden Northrend models can be found in patch 2.1
  
• Drysc has posted before that players won’t take Arthas on level 70 but level 80; it’s unsure if he was joking or not, one can see it as a hint.

Beyond Outland

Why?

• We only fought Illidan’s forces; the Legion is still at large.
  
• With Illidan out of the way and the portals no longer closed, the Legion has to strike.
  
  Why not?
  
• Not much is known about the lands beyond Outland.
  
• Are fans waiting for more “outer-space” areas?
  
  Hints
  
• Before the Burning Crusade was released it has been many times said by Blizzard that we would only get a piece of Outland. There are still lands floating around, not to forget the portals leading to other places.

The Emerald Dream

Why?

• It will introduce a unique landscape.
  
• In terms of content it will introduce Azeroth unchanged; this means there was never a sundering in this version. Enough room for zones!

• Too big for now?

• There are enough (unfinished) quests that lead to the Emerald Dream.
  
• There are already some models of the Emerald Dream in WoW directories

The most obvious choice would be Northrend. Further speculation will go about Northrend.


4.2 Speculations (The new races)

Northrend won’t introduce many new races. It’s also hard to imagine one that could fit in with the Horde or Alliance. Also if one thing has taught us in the past; expect the unexpected.

4.3 Speculations (The new dungeons)

So far it is known that the new dungeons will introduce old dungeons in Azeroth. This to make sure Azeroth doesn’t die out. Here’s what I think we’ll see:


• Drak'Tharon Keep (the place Arthas found Frostmourne)
  
• Gundrak (Zul’Gurub meets Northrend)
  
• Grim Batol Would make sense since Blizzard wants to add more Dwarven lore
  
• Icecrown Citadel (time to visit the lich king!)
  
• Riplash Ruins (a part of the Nerubian city of Azjol-Nerub, now infested with Naga)
  
• Temple of Storms (er.. it’s mysterious)
  
• Ulduar & Uldum (Time to continue the Dwarven/Gnome/Old gods lore)

4.4 Speculations (The new places)

• Isle of Kezan (it’s above Undermine, so it would make sense)
  
• Kul Tiras (old work in progress whiteboards showed a connection between Undermine and Kul Tiras)
  
• Gilneas Would make sense if Kul Tiras would be releases
  
• Northrend
  
• Undermine (only way you can reach Northrend)

4.5 Speculations (Features)

• Level 80 (10 levels between TBC and WoW worked great, level 80 sounds fair enough)
  
• Hero classes Northrend will require loads of heroes to defeat the armies of the lich!
  
• Guild housing (about time they release this feature)

from the Elitist Jerks forum has scans of an article from the magazine "Games for Windows" which contains rather juicy bits of infomation from the developers on the upcoming features of in game VOIP and guild banks.

I'm guessing the reason that these details havn't been written in blue is either, they're not set in stone yet or Blizzard has agreed to withhold the infomation for a month'ish so as not to ruin the 'exclusivity' of the article.

Check the source links of 1.7.5. They are clearly posted in blue.

Also I don't really see why a magazine would make up a story like this and last but not least, Blizzard only released full details once things are finalized for them.

It's updated on basis of when I got updates. Updates happen almost every Monday/Tuesday. Of course, some updates I add when there are no updates to post at all, like chapter 4, purely to keep the thread running and because it's fun :-)
