Thanks for the info. Very much appreciated.

It's quite simple, so you wouldn't understand.

Skinning a bear should aggro every bears in a 40 yard radius. It makes sense, you are actually skinning their best friend.

A simple way to detect a keylogger is to see the link itself. If it ends with urlname=<somethingorother>, it is a keylogger.

Obviously, replace <somethingorother> with any random junk, like urlname=PVP, urlname=seehere.

Oversimplistic I'm afraid.

Not all such URLs are loggers and not all loggers are that format URL .. basically, the only safe thing to do is ignore ALL non- Blizzard URLs, especially Youtube (and other such sites) and those in the .CN domain. You'll also avoid tediouss and mindless 'rickroll' cr@p too.

You guys should permanently ban the accounts of those who post keyloggers. Not only the forum accounts but the game account as well.

You can pretty much assume they are. Just as much as you can assume the accounts used are hacked through the use off these very same keyloggers, and have been stripped off all valuables before being used in this manner.

How would it make any sense banning their accounts? The keylogger (trojan) takes over peoples forum-accounts and spreads link to new keyloggers, all without the real owner of the account knowing anything.

The accounts usually are hacked accounts, so it's rather unfair to ban them

I don't see how you can have sympathy for these people. If they are compromised accounts then its the account owners fault for being less than cautious with their security.

it is only logical they are banned from posting more keyloggers on the forums untill the real owner of the account is back in control. i don't think it is a permanent ban.

QFT. It would be unfair if it would be a perma-ban, at least in-game. That they'd get permabanned on the forums is understandable, though.

This one time, I was in a group with a shaman. He had pretty good gear and he was happy with his class, and I was like LOL LETS CHANGE THAT

A temp-ban until one is certain the account is back to its original owner would be in order.

You ever got your computer exploited and hacked? If so you should ban yourself from internet asap.

Nowadays one does not need to click anything to get keylogger installed. Not even "safe" file formats are safe anymore. Recent hot stuff to get hacked includes: playlist in winamp, animated cursors and everlasting IE Iframe exploit that thyey never fix probably.

Ps. If you guys ever find/get any malware, keyloggers etc,, It is really important to send sample of those files to as many Antivirus as you can. More samples they get faster they will detect those keyloggers.

I would agree with you if the mods were a little more careful when handing out bans. A guildy of mine has a permanent forum ban because some idiot screamed Keylogger at a link to a picture. (It was an image shack link for god sake).
