0. Raid Consumables - A guide 24/04/2007 00:09:22 PDT
In a raid everyone uses pots. Everyone uses elixirs and elixirs. These consumables are useful and help us do our job in a raid better. I've even come across premades in BG using these! (needless to say we lost, the flasked allies won).
Feel free to comment, report bad links or tell me about something I might have missed.
::IMPTORTANT:: Upcoming Patch will change the way elixirs, pots and whatnot can be used effectively.
Please follow the link below for a list of Profession changes affecting the use of some of the consumables mentioned here.
-Flask Of Petrification added, also explained in the link.

Q u o t e: Good list and regrettably crucial raiding info. Wish it wasn't so.
No idea if the list is complete but recommend for sticky so we can add to it.
What do you mean, crucial?
Our guild raids unbuffed (we're a bunch of casuals) and so far we're doing ok in KZ. Sure, it's hard and we wipe while learning the encounters. Apart from a health pot or a mana pot nothing is really required. It just makes life easier.

Smeleon, I assume you mean Night Dragon's Breath, which I added, alon with runes and Kreeg's stout in the category "miscellanious".
In my personal opinion the runes are preferable, but of course what each players uses is up to him or her, and governed in part by what is available at any given time =)
Cheers,
Wajo.

In Karazhan, agreed. Potions aren't required, they just make things easier. However, I'd love to see you do Karatesh, Leotheras, Al'ar etc. without a single potion/elixir/flask besides health or mana potions.

I'll have to get back to you on that in a few months ;)

Smeleon, I am sorry to say I didn't take the time to sort them by shared cooldowns, but if you follow the links provided with each consumable you will find out the materials needed to make them, and what other consumables each one shares a cooldown with.
I can edit the guide so that instead of a link it will show the the tooltip and materials needed if more people want me to, but for now I'll keep it as is =)
Ps. Bandages should count, and I'll add them ^^

current herb mats: 30x Dreamfoil, 10x Mountain Silversage, 1x Black Lotus
2.1. herb mats: 7x Dreamfoil, 3x Mountain Silversage, 1x Black Lotus
even tho the effect of the flask will be slightly more than halved but still probalty the best choice of dps consumeable (from 150spelldmg to 70 spelldmg), atleast on raid boss attempts and maybe an Elixir of Major Shadowpower with an Elixir of Major Mageblood for trash (because of the new battle/guardian elixir rules that comes in patch 2.1). Difference here will be 70 spelldmg for 2hours which lasts after death vs 55 shadowdmg and 16mp/5 for 1 hour
Also new flasks coming in 2.1.:
Unstable Flask of the Physician +20 Int +44 Healing +30 Sta
Unstable Flask of the Sorcerer +20 Int +23 Spl Dmg +30 Sta
still no real info on how to get those new flasks but seems to be some trade-in for "marks"
They also seems to "only be useable" in different zones like Gruul's Lair etc.
EDIT: changed the mats for 2.1. Supreme Power Flask

I would just like to add that you just have to be damn careful with the Fel Mana Potions.
The Debuff ain't much if you have good gear...
But the first time I started using them and didn't notice that 1st of all. The usage of another Fel Mana Pot renews the time and 2nd, it stacks...
Well I had it stacked 4 times on me before I noticed it...
And then we waited for the debuff to end...
We didn't wipe nor were we close to it.
But if I had kept sipping those pots down my throat without noticing it then...
But even though it gives more than a Super Mana Potion I prefer those.
The Mana over time on the Fel Mana is not as good as the instant fill off Super.
Although that depends wheter you use a pot in a tight spot or in good time before you get into the tight spot.
