As the title suggests, Azuregos got soloed by a hunter (me) :)

The trick to it was using mend pet gear to keep my pet alive and staying outside of the teleport range while my pet was immune to the effects. It took me a total of 127 minutes to get him down after the pull.

To Blizzard:

I know this probably looks overpowered, but imho hardly is. It's a lot of fun to do things with trivial content, pre-60 things like Strath, MC, etc, but once the content starts to become non-trivial from +- 66 instances and on, mend pet gear quickly turns useless. Pets just get too many crits and crushing blows and get one or two shotted because of this and very very low HP for a tank. This makes it impossible to use them as a tanks in heroics/karazhan and on, and very infeasible in 68+ instances.

You could argue that it's too 'useful' in lower content, but so far the only thing that's even remotely profitable (around 60-80g per hour tops and only once or twice a week if you're lucky) is killing Azuregos. And by the time you get the mend pet gear needed, all the gear/things from quests/mobs you can get are already useless. The only use I've really had for it so far is trying to kill hard things just for the fun of it.

So please, don't nerf the healing bonus that Mend Pet gets from gear, it's really not needed and would ruin the fun for me and probably for quite a few others. I do agree Azuregos probably should't be soloed, but a better solution imo would be to change Azuregos so for example pets aren't immune to the teleport de-aggroing or something of the sort.

but on a side note I must say the mend pet thing is quite bugging me.. indeed it just helps bots farm gold better as far as I saw, and ruins the fun of some contents
for instance those BM hunters can just solo elites that would otherwise require a tank and healer (that magma giant in burning steppes for instance) by just sending the pet in, healing the pet and throwing an arrow now and then... I mean comeon is it working as intended? and same goes to warlock btw that I saw soloing stupid elites in nagrand by just fear dotting while MM hunters can't even do poop as now most elites got that ability to pull you back at him for no reasons

yes you indeed geared specially for that event but I still don't think everything is working accordingly here :)

The part where you said it's "Hardly overpowered" is great.

You are aware that no other class IN THE ENTIRE GAME could solo this don't you? The fact you are supposed to have an entire raid to take one of these things down, not a Pet and a Hunter shows that in fact, you are talking garbage, it IS overpowered.

It's pretty good though. I don't think Hunters need a nerf or anything, but you are fooling nobody by pretending this isn't a show of extreme imbalance.

@ Ebichu: I doubt it would change a lot for bots, first of all, most of them walk around in greens, most of them wouldn't bother investing the time to get the gear. Second, it really isn't great for grinding normal mobs -> mend pet generates more aggro and it takes a lot longer to kill a mob. As for elites, I've yet to see a non-rare elite drop anything worth farming, and normal elites most likely still wouldn't be possible for bots, 1 add -> dead bot.

For killing high level elites it might be slightly useful, but you'd probably have done most of the quests that need you to kill one, and I've yet to see any semi-decent drops from Elites, so nothing to gain there really. And even if you still need a few quests done, it's easier to get a PUG for those than it is to collect mend pet gear :P

Edit: @Mctavish: You're right, it is overpowered in lower level (semi-)trivial content. All I'm saying is that there's hardly anything to be gained from it, because there's nothing to get there really once you reach level 70 and get the mend pet gear needed (except for killing Azuregos maybe, but that's only because he wasn't designed to handle pets tanking and teleport doesn't affect them, imho that's the bug, not the mend pet gear). All you can really use it for is to have fun.

but he rezed him in combat and finished the work.. in pvp? trap and rez would probably work the same or something :)

As I said I /applaud to the job done there it's not the point, I know he geared for that etc, I just did some off topic to underline the fact that some things shouldn't be happening like soloing group content in general and I believe it's what blizzard think too or else they wouldn't have made all those mobs in outland either running at 250% speed either pulling you back at them from a 41yard range right?
And it's kinda the spirit of playing a "mmorpg"...

if not then give hunters the ability to kite again and everything will just be "working as intended" I bet.. but in my own opinion it's still not the way to go...

and I repeat it takes nothing from the great job of that dorf (tho I don't like dorfs but that's another story of course)
And yes even with a much lesser healing gear it would still be able to solo many many elites, prolly not azuregos but still :P

Oh and btw wanna try kazzak next time? (or whatever the name of the guy that replaced him in blasted land) and what about the fel reavers? think you can handle it? :) looking forward to it :P

@Ebichu: You're probably right in some ways. I don't think group content should really be soloed either, but I'm not really arguing for that. My point is more that even if it's overpowered in some ways, there's not much to be gained from it. Sure it does probably make some of the lower level group content and maybe some outdoor elites (that never drop anything worth it) a lot easier, but not in a way that it would really require a nerf or hotfix or anything. It doesn't change anything about the current level 70 group content like instances and PvP (in PvP it's 100% useless). It's just that I would hate to see it nerfed, since I've had a lot of fun with it so far and will probably have a lot of fun with it in the future if it won't be nerfed, that's all :)

Hmm, i soloed those at level 60 with a marksmanship build, in full r14 gear.

Yep, the basic skills (growl, screech, bite), full FR, full armor, rest in stamina and all the tanking BM talents

uh? mm hunters cant even do poop? thats news to me. I soloed most of the nagrand 3 man elite quests on my hunter. my greatest achievment was killing Uvuros(almost, got ganked at 3-4%) in shadowmoon valley, without using guards. ihve had kraator the 5 man elite rare spawn at about 30%. so you see...if its slowable or slow enough to run from, you can kill it. just sounds to me that you need to learn how to kite. ^^

how much mony you actually earned after selling loot/shard picking up the mony
it could actually be an effective money grind every 3day:D
