Q u o t e:
Credit for a usefull guide.

BUT, I feel that OP and other posters neglect to inform just how much time it actually takes to lvl a pet up.

No worries if you have all the time in the world and are lvl 70. But I tried this at lvl 60, because I wanted Humar the Pridelord to lvl up, as I just respecced to try BM and cats do more damage.

As stated the grinding/ levelling is best done with a MM spec I can assure that. Took lvl 42 Humar to Outlands and went after the lvl 60-61 boars outside Honor Hold. Of course he couldn't hold aggro and without Distracting Shot and the damage of Aimed Shot etc it is a constant struggle to get range and deliver some damage. I actually have to run towards the NPCs in HH to get them to hit the beast a bit in order for me to down it, as my kiting skills apparently are insufficient. This deducts XP from the kill and thus adds to the timeframe of levelling up Humar.

This is just a bit of information for people not yet lvl 70. I am not speccing MM again as I just specced BM, so if anyone has some better places to grind XP (besides instances) pls let me know. But I am thinking that it is extremely difficult when being BM!

Well the title states it IS meant for level 70s. At your level a good MM spec and instance grinding with the pet should get him to "outland" levels. From there on just quest with him?

My hunter-fu is fairly weak, but what's the point of a BM specc with no, uh, beast?

Not sure I understand fully., sorry.

I DO have a beast, Rak'Shiri, that I use atm. But Humar is a good looking rare pet which would have been nice to lvl up if it wasn't so damn hard at lvl 60 and as BM.

And as you state, there is no point what so ever not to use your pet if you are Bm specced, as pet contribute as lot to total damage you dish out. But I can't imagine a BM hunter not using his pet.

A bit different with MM, but there are pros and cons for all specs.

Hehe i was reading this few days ago guide and got an idea to train a lvl 7 Springpaw Lynx from Eversong to lvl 70, just because i like the look of those cats.
At the moment my pet is lvl 57, it was easy and fun to grind XP for her.
I grinded at Bonechewer Ruins, since there was a lot of those Warped Peons, they are easy to kill, got low hp, give great XP and drop a lot of cloths and green stuff.

I need to lvl a old lvl 65 pet i have (rak'shiri) my pet i want to use in pvp, i tryed lvling him up alot but its really diffuicult. The guide should hopefully help me out alot! Also i like the idea of taking my pet through group instances but keep him bk so he doesn't agro or on stealth. I used to have a lvl 24 pet that i took through ZF alot when i was in my lvl 40s. Alot of people do complain but he would lvl from every 10-20kills so it was extremely useful for me and people then saw how much it helped and didn't care anymore.

Thanks for the guide.

Springpaw Stalkers are red, but those lynxes in Netherstorm are brown.
There aint no red lynxes in Outland at all.

TBH it will be alot easyer just to make a new hunter and at lvl 10 run there to tame one - thats excatly what i done with one of my alts. Training one from lvl 6 will take far to long and to much hassel.

I myself havent found it hard to level my pets that have been under 60 levels... only tedious.

But thats kinda understandable, im an melee hunter. Losing the pet doenst slow me down that much. Can still keep going without stop, only little slower... even on lv 70 mobs.

I had a spotted white cat that I didn't use since 36 or something like it, and now that i wanted to level it, I found it was easiest to just help friend's alts when they go to Ramparts. 2 runs got it from 37-43, less then an hour for each run (btw my hunter was lvl 67).

Blood furnace, Slave Pens and Underbog would also be good candidates.

PS. BM specced, so pet can stand a lot of damage, even at 40-ish.

easiest way i have found is by helping guildies in instances, BM spec again so it can take a bit of a beating, after 2days humar is 54, with little solo grinding inbetween. still a very nice and useful guide :)

Nice guide but like so may others I wish there was a non-grind way. I want pet diversity, I don't want another reason to grind though.

Tried it, gave up. What a lovely pointless addition to the game levelling pets actually is. Bah, should work more like the skills.

nice , a blue reply posted here so you can avoid answering the topic about pet lvls . no offense , but it's the truth.

sorry if it seems rude , but if you actually read suggestions , why answering only the topics that would leave things like are now ?

I agree with these sentiments entirely. I think it is typical that Blues just want guides on methods in World of Grindcraft and totally ignore posts which attempt to deal with the real problems of grinding up pets.

What do you suggest I can do about it? *Can* it be done something about? Use the OP name to post some "suggestions" and below-belt kicks to the class? I can do that elsewhere, right now this guide is for the game as it is today, not what it could or damn right should have been ;)

The low level put should get xp from killing greys its own level. Recently my other level 35 hunter took a boar with level 25. I boosted it to 30, then continued my normal game. Now the hunter is level 38, almost hitting 39, the boar is 35 and the original pet, which I want to keep, is also 35.

Looking at the progress and my intentions to keep and level both pets, I will be arround 43/44 when the pets are on par with the hunter.

As a side effect the character get good defense and hand weapon rating, because quite some mob fights end with meleeing the mob down. Also, because of the extra grind, there is extra gold. The character has skinning as profession.

Above level 30 and leveling a pet that is about 10 levels lower is almost undoable, because the relative xp gain for every kill is to low.

Getting xp for the pet from greys, gets the pet very quickly at the level of the hunter, since the hunter doesn't get xp. Another idea is, to give the pet rested bonus when it is more than 2 levels below the hunter. This makes leveling with more than one pet also easier.

I think it's a great guide (using it to level a Ghost Saber) and I would like to post it on my guild forum.
But not without asking for your permission first.
So if it's okey with you, can I post this on the Burning Legion of Dunemaul's forum?
Would be really great if I could and you would ofc get full credit for it: =)
