Whilest searching about how to understand, knowing about and/or finding coordinates in maps and that I don't end up violating any TOU of some sort and what-not, I found a couple of issues of people getting banned for the use of a Logitech G15 keyboard.

These issues was concluded by Blizzard that it is "boting".

As we all know that these keyboards have programmable macro keys.

So Blizzard, is the use of these keyboards really bannable ?

This question gets asked a lot & the simple answer is no.

The longer answer is that as long as you only use the keyboard to do what you can do in game, you'll be fine. If you just use it as a normal keyboard & ignore the macro keys, no problems at all. If you use the macro keys to set up automated tasks, it depends. You can make a macro that you could make in game like /target & casting a spell. You can't make it move you, cast a spell & move again.

Hope this makes sense :)

You may use the G15, including the macro keys, as long as only ONE action is bound to a key.

E.g. if you bind /cast blind + /cast vanish on your "dang now I die" button, that is not allowed, having two buttons next to eachother one which casts blind the other casting vanish, that is allowed.

Stupidity makes for glorious entertainment.

Aaaah....

I just like having the LCD and the lighted keys on it... I have this keyboard for so long now, and I still have no idea on how to use those macro keys on it. I think it's getting rusted already...hehe.

But anyway, 1 action per macro key, right ? If that's so, I'm off to learning how to set macro keys on this keyboard.

Although....

I'm still worried though, I hope some Blizzard dude or gal will confirm this for me.

Cheers !

Blizz implemented support for the G15 LCD with a patch so I don't think they would ban you for accessing content they had added ;)

Sheathe - 60 Rogue, Hellscream
Wrolcrank - 60 Paladin, Hellscream
... and more :D

Hey Luvyaorblahd,

I think Sheathe's example is the best in this matter. There is ingame support for the keyboard (stats etc) meaning that the keyboard in itself is fine for use.

Though as the other posters have said use of the macro system to make unattended game play may cause issues with our Terms of Use. I would ask that you are careful with what you use it for as it may have repercussions on your account otherwise :)

Other than that, enjoy the keyboard :)

Edited for spelling

What does the patch do or implement or help with the use of the G15 keyboards ? I hope you don't mind me asking, but still thanks for any info.

I better stay off the macro thing then, but at least I hope using 1 action per key will be okey ;)

Thanks for info guys, cheers !

Hey again,

I see my post wasn't the clearest as to how it is supported. The extra features are the display of your character stats on the small LCD, Battleground stats on LCD and a few other bits and pieces.

The mapping of actions (eg hotbar to drink a potion or use an ability) to the extra keys is fine. :)

Aaahhh !

That answers all my questions, I thought the stats display on my keyboard LCD was something by Logitech. I really love this keyboard.

And, I will stick to a single action per key of course.

I appreciate all the info you guys shared with me, cheers !

yes that is breaking the policies if you programme it to do it in one klik which i assume you will..........as long as you do not try to do anything that you could not programme to a key on a normal keyboard besides use the lcd you should be fine

Q u o t e:
is it okay if I make a macro like this:

/Castsequence, Wrath of air, Totem of wrath, Mana spring totem, Stoneskin totem

And assign it to a macro button on my logi G15?

can you assign it to a button on a normal keyboard and will it work?

First of all, sorry for the thread necromancy. This was by far the most relevant thread I could find on the subject and my issue is not already answered anywhere, so I thought I'd post here.

Is it allowed under WoW terms of use to record a G11/G15 macro, using the Logitech supplied interface, which casts a sequence of actions containing multiple keypresses and delays?

For example, a mage might make an unattended Conjure Water G11/G15 macro like
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1
<wait 1.5 secs>
press 1

Is anything like this allowed?

Another example would be creating a /stopcasting WoW macro and then calling it via a G11/G15 macro to get some *really* tight spell cast sequences to make up for network lag, like 3 fireballs in a row timed exactly every 3 seconds.

Can you please explicitly clarify if this is allowed or not?

Thanks in advance
Margot

I believe they keyword you used in there is:

'Unattended'

= No, not ok, I doubt you'd get owned for afk making water to be honest, but you would in theory be breaking the rules.

Indeed, the key word is "Unattended".

While I can certainly see the advantage of say, been able to create large amounts of water while away from your keyboard, this is still classed as automated play, and as such is against the Terms of Use.

Your other example could also be considered to be automated play. In short, the keyboard should not be used to perform any action which a player cannot perform himself in-game using the regular macro interfaces. Obviously there is no in-game function which would allow you to cast multiple spells in the way you have specified, meaning it is not allowed with the keyboard.

What if it's programmed so you would have to hold down the macro button all the time while conjuring the water?
