Now that the armoury is live and we’ve already received some feedback (both positive and negative) we want to ask you for more specific feedback.

Disclaimer: We can’t promise to change anything (right away), nonetheless we would very much like to hear your opinion(s).

We would like everyone to provide us specific feedback on what they like and what they don’t like and please include very specifically why.

We will then look at all the players’ feedback and take it from there.

Something wicked this way comes...

Àëûs, critting flamers since 2005.

Perhaps add a link to this Armoury if it is to do with the website, or explain what the Armoury is if it is ingame.

I would like to be able to opt out.

As i've said in another post, I don't mind having available what someone can inspect if they're stood next to me, but I really don't wish to share every aspect of my character with someone, especially someone i may come across in pvp.

For those of us that see our characters as an extension of ourselves, and that immerse ourselves in your world fully - rather than treating it as an FPS avatar, I personally have an emotional attachment to my character, and this to me is as invasive as someone seeing me walk down the street and be able to look through my clothes, or inspect the contents of my purse, or know that I'd not worn clean underwear that day, etc.

Please give us the option to omit a 'second' tier of information - ie - that which is not available to people inspecting you.

my ideas

-the avatar on top with the general headshot, your name, guild, class and level to show my own character.
With the gear I have would be cool, but just the correct face would be enough for me.
(lazy me would have a really cool signature then and the character displayed would be me, and not the same face just different stuff.

-to be able to choose to show or not show pvp rank (like ingame)

-to be able to choose from the gear that I have in bags or bank, what to show on my character page,
at the moment my priest shows its holy spec (which I am) but wearing the damage gear.

-a full list with all thing from my professions what I can craft, saves me a lot of time creating posts with links on the guild forums. Would really be perfect if by clicking on the creatable items you get to see the materials needed.

Some general things

--at the moment the site seems sluggish, maybe because its really heavy or everybody is trying to use it.

--what would be nice to know is when the armoury will be updated. Will this during every maintenance or the first day of the month.
It doesn’t really matter exactly when or how many times it will be updated, as long as we know when. This way you know when your finally will have the right level or guild whatever.

Thanks for this post.

All in all, the armory is a very nice addition to the WoW web site.

I'd like the option to have several sets of gear, since most top-level characters own different sets of gear for different occurences, like FireResist gear, DPS gear, tank gear, etc.

Also, I'd like to have the possibility to see hunters pets on the site (including stats).

To have buffs off would be better imo, but perhaps the possibility to "add" buffs when looking at a profile, to see how that would affect the stats.

I'd like the guild roster to be sortable on guild rank.

I'd like the guild ranks to show as the names they are. Some guilds have guild ranks where Rank 2 isn't the second best rank. The ranks can't be rearranged so it's a very big job to have them in order.

I'd like to have an option to show your inventory to the world. Would be nice for guild banks.

I'd like to have an option to connect characters that exist in the same account.

I'd like the "Last updated:" tag to include the (server)time, and not only the date it was updated.

I like the FAQ on each page a lot!

On the reputation page it shows my rep as 1234/12000; which is fine. But to also see that the character is honored with that faction (for those that doesn't see that from the numbers) would be nice.

When moving the mouse over a lot of stuff on the site, it glows, indicating that it's clickable. However, nothing happens when I click it. Intended?

The reliability of the site need to improve. 2 hours ago I looked at my own reputation in the armory, not the armory says that it can't show it since I haven't been online for such a long time.

As others have said, a feature that would be fantastic would be a list of all known crafting recipes, or a list of all items you can craft.

This is clearly an atempt to take the inovations of sites like CTProfiles and implement them with access to the data only Blizzard has. Ok np, but one of the best things about sites like CTProfiles is that you can design and maintain your own gear sets. Seeing what my character was wearing last time I logged off is a lot less useful in the kind of situations where you used a character link before than being able to show my healing gear as one set and my resistance gear as another.

While I'm not sure I would want to opt out myself, I would definately suport this as feature for those who do.

Also some way of ordering the guild lists by rank and filtering by rank. So you can filter out everyone alts etc if you wanted to.

Showing buffs seems to be completely pointless, if removing this could speed it up its worth considering.

The site definately has performance issues atm.

I would preffer if the actual guild bank feature was implemented.

I wouldn't I have an AH character for a reason when I action an item I dont want 20 wispers, begging and abuse from people who want to buy it for some stupidly low price and are upset when I refuse.

Likes - everything

Dislikes - nothing specific

Additional features - would be nice to have different gear sets option and available crafting recipes displayed.

Profiles
The major thing I am missing here is the option of profiles for different gear setups. Like resistance set gear, tanking/dps gear for warriors, healing/dps gear for other hybrids etc.

One simple solution would be to implement a fiev simple commands into the game server, so that it would enable us to:
- create new profiles
- update current profiles
- delete custom made profiles

All profiles should be created/updated based on the gear you are wearing when issuing the command.
You may only delete your custom added profiles, so it doesn't disturbe anything.

The "main" profile would be just as it is now.

That would be great for us PVE freaks. :)

Also I have noticed, that some people are very opposed to the idea of their gear being publically viewed, so I guess you'll have to make some sort of in game control of the armory anyway (like a special command, to disable the armory's tracking of your character).

My suggestions are as follows:

1: Make it required to Login, and make a requirement to choose your absolute main character from your own base when browsing others. (Required for 2 and 3 to work)
2: Make it impossible for Alliance to see Horde characters (And of course the other way around) Unless the player in question is in an Arena team.
3: Make an option to close certain information from other players.

I know I have argued for the Privacy part of this tool recently, but on closer thought, the only issue I have is the "Alliance/Horde" thing, as the PvP bit kinda looses it's interrest and point, when you can check online who your opponent is, even if he appears as ?? to you.. And it also allows you (As others have previously argued) to see what your strengths and weaknesses are..

------

I'm not a Nerd... I'm just working as intended...

I would not support an opt-out. One of the beaties of the Armory is that you can see in advance who you're dealing with, before you recruit them into your guild, or trade with them. It helps eliminate scamming. An opt-out would destroy that advantage.

The very most important thing is a privacy option.

I don't want that every Jim and Joe can inspect me at any given time at this detail. He have no right to know, what talent I specced.

And to make it more valuable for you to implement a privacy option even for gear, I share an idea with you:

If I would have a goldfarming company, I would write a php-script to gather data from armory, then decide what chars need gold to buy at least auctionhouse gear, as well I could see what chars I should not write ingame mails with gold adds, if they have already purple highend stuff.

Agree, but since that's not being discussed right now I though that this would be better than nothing.

I think the magic word for most of my suggestiong (including this one) was "option". You should be able to turn it off (or on, perhaps default off is best there).

You could always refuse to invite (to guild or party), or trade with a person with no public armory profile...

I suggest to extend the armoury with a Character Guild History.
THis history could contain all the guilds he was in, and how long was a character in too. (from-to date)
This could come handy when someone wants to check whom he's inviting to his guild.

for example:
MessagemastrX Guild History:

Legends of the darkspear: 2006.01.12 - 2006.10.23
MastersguildX: 2006.10.23-2007.02.28

why does it matter to so many people that others can see their speccs.
you wil get wisperd as priest/warrior ect no matter what spec youve got you just cant lie that your shadow, just say no ty big deal

As an extension to the gear set idea it would be nice if there could be some form of in-game wardrobe mod. At the moment I use ClosetGnome and for my druid I have a Tank, DPS and Healing set recorded. It's very simple to use as you just equip the items for a particular set, save it and then click a button to change sets (some wardrobe mods change sets on particular cues e.g shifting to bear form, but I prefer actively choosing what I'm wearing).

The point is that it would be a nice functionality in game if you could set up armour sets as you can with wardorbe mods. Aswell as the integration of a useful feature in to the standard ui it would enable showing different sets on the armoury without the need for individuals to create/update seperate profiles outside of the game.

I spend most of my game time tanking, but i usually log out in my dps gear (and occasionally my healing gear), I'm not sure how the armoury decides which armour to show, but if it's based on the last equipped set then it doesn't necessarily reflect what that person does in game (or is geared to do).

For people applying for guilds it may have a negative effect if their profile shows their grinding gear, rather than that person having the opportunity to select healing or tanking gear for their main set.

Overall I think it's a good feature, though much of it isn't loading correctly for me yet. I also think some option to hide certain aspects of your character (talents/skills/reputation) should be available.

---

it looks absolutely awesome and im sure you / some1 at blizzard will be spending a lot of time expanding it.
however..

My main issue :
if i look at my melee stats, i see an inconsistency.
- Hit Rating: 180, and shows hit chance on hover this is not my correct hit chance however
- Crit Chance: 18.06% , and shows crit rating on hover. exactly the other way around.. confusing.

Hit chance :
Make this consistent. (ingame its shown the same way,, but imo both ways are incorrect.)
Show the exact Hit Chance by default 16.xx%, and show the hit rating on hover, just like crit chance.

Make Sure that precision (rogue combat tree talent) is added in the calculation.
currently this talent does not show up in either the armory, or on your character sheet ingame.. this is a bug imo. Please fix this asap.

----

my guild is not showing up properly yet.
it shows under my portrait, but i cant click it yet, and the tab is not active yet.

---

Keys. and attunements.
i'd like to be able to see what keys i have, especially for guilds this would allow officers to see each player's attunements.
possibly it may be nice to show bank contents, and inventory as well -> guildbank
plus, this feature would make ctprofiles, alakhazam, and guildroster completely useless == good thing. as i hate them all.

For me it follows into two areas

Additional Funcitonality
  • Ability to view patterns that the character can create

  • Ability to see keys and attunements completed

  • Funcitonality changes
Privacy options - The ability to present my character details to either 'everyone', 'Guild Only' or 'Only to myself' with perhaps the ability to configure different aspects to display (so my crafting abilities could be displayed to everyone but my talent build would only be displayed to my guild)
