1) Talent guide for lvl 70 warlocks

Pure PvE builds:

0/21/40 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000002150030133200100000000505000512200510531050)

+ The power of this build is centered around sacrificing your imp. I belive that this will be THE dps build at lvl 70, while I know that Incinerate won't outdps SB with equal buffs/debuffs on your opponent, but let's just face it, you'll see more fire mages than Shadow Priests in instances, and with the Imp.Scorch debuff Incinerate will do more dps than SB. On a side note, you can sacrifice your succubus if you'll need Shadow DPS.

- This build will suck for PvP and will be quite bad for grinding. You won't be able to Blood Pact your group.

Possible Changes: You can move 2 points from imp.HS/Fel Stamina to Improved Imp. You can also move 3 points from Backlash to Soul Leech, for more lastability but a small nerf to your dps/farming dps. You can also move 5 points from Imp.SB to Cataclysm if you feel like you're never gonna use Shadow again.

PvE/PvP builds:

0/40/21 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0000000000000000000000350030133250100501350505000512200010000000)

+ The dps of this build is also very good, especially if you can whip your succubus out, activate SL and keep her alive. Isn't too shabby for PvP either. Ok for grinding. You can also provide your tank with Blood Pact without losing too much damage.

- No real cons, expect that maybe it's not all that good for grinding/group PvP + No imp.Corruption :-(

Possible Changes: You can put the points from Imp.HS and 1 point from Master Summoner to Fel Stamina to get some xtra spelldmg from DK.

9/41/11 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0500220000000000000002050030133250101501351505000010000000000000)

+ Okay dps, okay dots, okay nukes, okay for grinding. This is the "I can do it all decently" build, relaxing to play due to lack of buttons to press ;-) Good survivability.

- Lacks range talents and threat reduction (Unless you whip out yer imp), but this isn't really a problem in Boss Fights since we're getting Soul Shatter(Just kidding, this spell doesn't exist). In PvP, on the other hand, you can actually be kited by some smart players(No snares and no range)

Possible Changes: You can move 2 points from Soul Siphon to Mana Feed if you're really just after the dps(2 points should be enough to keep your Felguard up tho') or move the point from mana feed and Imp.LT to Demonic Resilience if you're planning to kill hugeass elites or focus mainly on PvP.

7/8/46 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0500200000000000000000350000000000000000000505020512200510531351)

+ Good dps, an extra AoE spell with a stun, Imp.Imp with Imp.Fireballs - a nice addition to our grinding/PvP/Instance dps(When there is no AOE to kill him)

- No real minuses, expect for horrible mana efficiency :-)

Possible Changes: If you mainly focus on PvP you can put the points from Imp.Imp to Nether Protection and the points from Imp.FB to Imp.HS. Or you can move the points from Soul Leech to Nether Protection, 3 points from Imp.Imp to Imp.Searing Pain and 2 points from Imp.FB to Imp.HS.

45/5/11 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0502220512235115512010050000000000000000000505000010000000000000)
+ Now, this is a very interesting build to discuss. Affliction gives so many candies to the raid/warlock. The build I just posted is mainly for PvE/Arenas. It has pretty nice dps, insane multi-target dps, a few raid cookies in form of Shadow Embrace and Dark Pact. You can keep yourself up forever without any healing support in instances.

- (Relatively) weak Direct Damage, isn't too good on trash where you have to focus fire.

Possible Changes: Pure PvE version of the build: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0502220412235115512310300000000000000000000505000010000000000000
Pure PvP version of this build: http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?1500222512230115512010050000000000000000000505000410000000000000

40/21/0 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?1502220512230115512000350030133200100000000000000000000000000000)
+ The new version of the old SM/DS. Not all-that-good raid dps, but it's great for farming and fun in PvP. Dark Pact is there "just in case", same with imp.imp.

- Pretty crap Direct Damage(Single Target DPS), no reliable burst damage. No pet(With a sacrificed Void your survivability isn't all that bad tho')

Possible Changes: You can throw 5 points from Contagion to Shadow Embrace if you have no other locks with the talent but you still love the build, 5% damage nerf isn't all that noticeable, but 5% less damage caused to the tank can make the difference between a wipe or a kill.

40/0/20 |+1 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?0502220412230115512200000000000000000000000505000512200000000000)

+ The new SM/Ruin, people will never stop arguing what is better, Ruin or UA. I think both are situationaly good. This build provides good dps and good threat reduction. It also has most "must have" dps talents.(If you decide to pick UA you should drop one point from Devastation to fill up Malediction)

- 0 points in demo+PvP...nuff said.

Possible Changes: You decide ;-)

Pure PvP builds

20/41/0 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?1500220412210000000002051030133250100501351000000000000000000000)

+ NF/SL, anyone? This is simply the new version of it. I think I don't need to explain anything about it.

- No Demonic Resilience, no Empowered Corruption. :/

Possible Changes: You can put the points from NF to Emo.Corruption if you don't like relying on procs, but I don't really recommend that.

24/37/0 (http://www.wow-europe.com/en/info/basics/talents/warlock/talents.html?1500220412230110000002050030133250100531300000000000000000000000)

+/- You lose some Direct Damage (compared to the 20/41/0 build) and some CoA damage, in return you get stronger corruption, more spell damage from DK, CoEx, Siphon Life, -3 crit, Spell Lock, Devour Magic(Yes, I'm assuming that you'll playing with a Felhunter), Paranoia and a pretty much unkillable pet. If you have a Resistance trinket from Kri/Loatheb all casters will cry you a river.

Possible Changes: I think this build is perfect as it is. :-)

2)Breakdown of the talens:

2a)Affliction:

-Tier 1-

Suppression - Chance for enemies to reduce your affliction spells reduced by 2%..10% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺

Comment: A very useful talent for both pve and pvp, although pvp fanatics normally only take 2-3 points in this talent as the base resist chance of players is 5%. When leveling this talent helps kill higher level enemies with ease.

Improved Corruption - Reduces the cast time of your Corruption spell by 0.4..2 seconds (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: One of the most important talents for pvp as it makes corruption instant cast which therefore allows it to be cast while on the run. Very few builds are without this gem. Note: some raiders feel that only having 1-2 points in this talent is enough to not lose any time bolting thus saving 3-4 points.

-Tier 2-

Improved Curse of Weakness - Increases the effect of your Curse of Weakness by 10..20% (2 points)
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating:
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Not a very useful talent until the expansion is released to to the current implementation of Curse of Weakness being rather... weak. Very rarely used in a build as the spell itself is mostly only used on hunter pets.

Improved Drain Soul - Returns 7..15% of your maximum mana if the target is killed by you while you drain its soul. Reduces the threat of your affliction spells by 5..10% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: A very nice talent for grinding and raiding, generally a pve talent as it requires the warlock to make the killing blow so if a warrior comes and executes your target you wont recieve the extra mana, and as always.. Threat reduction is a bonus :)

Improved Life Tap - Increase the amount of mana awarded by your life tap spell by 10..20% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: One of the most important talents in the affliction tree and a staple in any raiding build. This talent makes your life tap spell much more efficient and scales with gear.

Soul Siphon - Increases the amount drained by your Drain Life and Drain Mana by an additional 2..5% for each affliction effect on the target, up to a maximum of 24..60% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: A very nice talent for grinding and pvp in heavy affliction builds, Though Drain Life wont become your main raid dps spell due to the amount of threat generated by it, it is still useful for when you are low on health after life tapping. This talent makes Life Drain very powerful.

-Tier 3-

Improved Curse of Agony - Increase the damage done by your Curse of Agony by 5..10% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: This talent affects your spell damage also and therefore is very nice when you have alot of spell power. if you like to use curse of agony over curse of shadows/elements then by this talent is perfect for you.

Fel Concentration - Gives you a 14..70% chance to avoid interruptions caused by damage while channeling the Drain life, Drain mana and Drain soul spells. (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:[/b] ☺☺
Comment: A required talent for any drain tanking build, allows you to drain life players and mobs while they are hitting you and such that their damage does not break the spell. a very useful talent.

Amplify Curse - Increases the effect of your next Curse of Weakness and Curse of Agony by 50%, or your next Curse of Exhaustion by 20%. Lasts 30 seconds. (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: increase the base damage of curse of agony and therefore doesnt scale as well as other talents, but since it is required to get the very nice curse of exhaustion it is well worth a point in here :) Turns your curse of exhaustion into a mammoth snare eery 3 mins!

-Tier 4-

Grim Reach - Increase the range of your affliction spells by 10..20% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: a fantastic talent. snipe dotter! :)

Nightfall - Gives your corruption and Drain Life spells a 2..4% chance to cause you to enter a shadow trance after damaging the opponent. The shadow trance state reduces the casting time of your next shadowbolt by 100%. (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: Largely a fun and pvp talent. Basically means whenever your corruption or life drain ticks you have a 4% chance that your next shadowbolt is instant cast, (can be cast while moving). great for affliction pvp builds as it is our form of burst :)

Empowered Corruption - Your Corruption spell recieves an additional 12..36% of your bonus spell damage effects.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: an amazing talent which turns corruption from a dull head thump to a brain mashing DESTROYER!!!!11 :)

-Tier 5-

Shadow Embrace - Your Corruption, Curse of agony, Siphon life and seed of corruption spells also cause the Shadow Embrace effect, which reduces physical damage caused by 1..5% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: A useful talent, causes the opponent to do 5% less damage and counts as an affliction effect for soul siphon, doesnt stack. Nice for raiding as it is 5% less damage your tank has to take. nice in grinding as it is 5% more time you can grind for before eating. It counts towards soul siphon if you just put 1 point in it, so therefore its well worth to put just 1 point in for the bonus 5% on drain life if anything.

Siphon Life - Transfers 15 (66 max rank) Health from the target to the caster every 3 seconds, lasts 30 seconds.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: A beautiful talent (which now recieves 100% +damage from gear) throw this on a few targets in pvp and watch your health keep filling up, useful in grinding and raiding also. a must have talent.

Curse of Exhaustion - Reduces the target's speed by 30% for 12 seconds.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Very nice to have when kiting although its not much use when the enemy is already in melee and has applied their snare, nice from max range though. when amplified its a beast.

-Tier 6-

Shadow Mastery - Increases the damage dealt or drained by your shadow spells by 2..10% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: 10% extra shadow damage? yes please! a talent which many builds revolve around. a must have in affliction speccs.

-Tier 7-

Contagion - Increase the damage of curse of agony, corruption and seed of corruption by 1..5% and reduces the chance your affliction spells will be dispelled by an additional 6..30% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: Very nice pvp talent, annoys the hell out of dispellers. the 5% bonus is also nice boost in pve too.

Dark Pact - Drains 305 (700 max rank) of your pet's mana, returning 100% to you.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: an often misunderstood talent, what this spell does is take 305 (+spell damage gear) mana from your pet and then return THAT amount to you. Very useful since now it scales with gear.

-Tier 8-

Improved Howl of Terror - Reduces the cast time of your Howl of Terror spell by 0.8..1.5 seconds (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: Turns the normally useless Howl of terror into an instant cast aoe fear, very nice as its another way of telling those pesky melee classes to "get away and give me a minute to breath!"

Malediction - Increases the damage bonus effect of your Curse of Shadows and Curse of the Elements by an additional 1..3% (3 points)
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: This appears to be mostly a pve spell as it will help increase raid dps by a fair amount. not so useful in solo pve or pvp.

-Tier 9-

Unstable Affliction - Shadow energy slowly destroys the target, causing 660 (1050 max rank) damage over 18 seconds. In addition, if the Unstable Affliction spell is dispelled it will cause 990 (1575 max rank) damage to the dispeller and silence them for 5 seconds.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: Even with a 1.5 seconds cast this spell turns the affliction specc from a easily countered dot class to a unstoppable dot powerhouse, generally used first and then loaded up with the rest of teh dots after. a perfect 41 point talent.

2b) Demonology:

-Tier 1-

Improved Healthstone - Increases the amount of health restored by your healthstone by 10..20% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: If you like to use healthstones alot, this talent beefs up the healthstone from 1200 hp returned to 1440 hp. A useful talent but not neccesary.

Improved Imp - Increases the effect of your imp's Firebolt, fire shield and blood pact spells by 10..30% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: Another situational talent but if you use the imp extensively, be it in pve for blood pact or even as a machine gun imp, this is nice talent to have.

Demonic Embrace - Increases your total stamina by 3..15% but reduces your total spirit by 1..5% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: A really nice talent for pvp as more health = more chance you wont get 1 shotted ^^, but if you are a stamina freak this is a beautiful talent to pick up even if you dont go all the way in demo.

-Tier 2-

Improved Health Funnel - Increases the amount of health transferred by your health funnel spell by 10..20% and reduces the health cost by 10..20%
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Actually a really useful talent if you plan on getting the felguard since health funnel now scales with +damage gear, this talent is both a 20% increase in yield and 20% decrease in cost making it very good value for points. not useful if you are going for demonic sacrifice.

Improved Voidwalker - Increase the effectiveness of your voidwalker's Torment, Consume Shadows, Sacrifice and Suffering spells.
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: now that the voidwalker scales with gear she has now become semi useful for tanking and so if you enjoy using her as a tank then this is a nice talent to pick up, otherwise dont bother with it :)

Fel Intellect - Increases the intellect of your pets by 5..15% and your total mana by 1..3% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: a nice talent which really shines when used in conjuction with either dark pact or demonic knowledge. Useful but not essential.

-Tier 3-

Improved Succubus - Increases the effect of your Succubus' lash of pain and soothing kiss by 10..30%, and increases the duration of your succubus' Seduction and Lesser invisibility spells by 10..30% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: The third and last improved pet talent, once again situational and depends on whether you use the succubus alot, one could imagine that a succubus with imp lash of pain and this would become a nice dps minx.

Fel Domination - Your next pet summoning spell has its casting time reduced by 5.5 seconds and its mana cost reduced by 50%. (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: This talent in conjunction with the master summoner Talent allows for 0.5 second casting of a pet every 15 minutes, very nice for tight situations when you need a voidwalker sac shield or a certain pet. Good filler.

Fel Stamina - Increases the stamina of your pets by 5..15% and your total health by 1..3% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: very nice filler talent, nice synergy with demonic knowledge and in turn gives you more health.

Demonic Aegis - Increases the effectiveness of your Demon armor and Fel armor spells by 10..30% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: a talent that will shine once the level cap is raised and we get fel armor, but even now, for those of you who enjoy the locktank approach, 30% extra armor on demon armor isnt to be sniffed at, nice filler.

-Tier 4-

Master Summoner - Reduces the cast time of your pet summoning spells by 2..4 seconds and the mana cost by 20..40% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: This talent is made to synergize with the fel domination talent to get a 0.5 sec summon every 15 mins, but even alone it is a fantastic spell for summoning a pet when in a rush.

Unholy Power - Increases the damage done by your pets melee attacks by 4..20% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Prerequisite for master demonologist talent and useful if you are planning on using any pet which does melee damage.

-Tier 5-

Improved Enslave Demon - Reduces the attack speed and casting speed penalty of your enslave demon spell by 5..10% and reduces the resist chance by 5..10% (2 points)
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating:
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Hmm.. well the enslaving system currently in the game isnt widely used enough to make this talent really worth the points, but if enslaving is your thing then its only 2 points. =)

Demonic Sacrifice - When activated, sacrifices your current demon to grant you an effect that will last for 30 minutes, the effect is canceled if any other pet is summoned. (1 point)
Imp - 15% Extra Fire Damage.
Voidwalker - 2% Total Health every 4 seconds.
Succubus - 15% Extra Shadow Damage.
Felhunter - 3% Total Mana every 4 seconds.
Felguard - 10% Extra Shadow Damage and 2% Total Mana every 4 seconds.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: A beautiful talent with alot of variation. great for raiding and grinding as well as pvp. however the lack of a pet in pvp may present a lack of utility in some situations. nevertheless a very nice talent.

Master Conjuror - Increases the bonus fire damage from firestones and the firestone effect by 15..30% and the spell critical strike rating of your Spellstone by 15..30% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: In its new form this combined with spellstones/firestones now using the wand slot, this talent has become mor useful as a decent filler talent.

-Tier 6-

Mana Feed - When you gain mana from Drain Mana or Life Tap spells, your pet gains 33..100% of the mana you gain. (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: Really nice talent if you are planning on getting the felguard, although some people prefer to only put 2 points in it as it suffices with their gear setup.

Master Demonologist - Grants both the warlock and the summoned demon an effect as long as that demon is active. (5 points)
Imp - Reduces threat by 4..20%.
Voidwalker - Reduces physical damage taken by 2..10%.
Succubus - Increases all damage caused by 2..10%.
Felhunter - Increases all resistances by (0.2)..1 per level. (12..60 to all resistances at 60)
Felguard - Increases all damage caused by 1..5% and all resistances by 0.1..0.5 per level. (6..30 to all resistances at 60)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: Arguably the best talent in the demonology tree, cannot stress how useful this talent is enough.

-Tier 7-

Demonic Resilience - Reduces the chance you'll be critically hit by melee and spells by 1..3% and reduces all damage your summoned demon takes by 5..15% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: A nice talent for those who like their pets to last longer and the 3% crit defence is nice. A talent for those who like to tank :-)

Soul Link - While active, 30% of all damage taken by the caster is taken by your pet instead. in addition, both the master and demon will inflict 3% more damage. lasts as long as the demon is active.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: The pinnacle of the demonology tree and one of the most loved (and hated) talents. keeps YOU alive so your dots can kil THEM! :)

Demonic Knowledge - Increases your spell damage by an amount equal to 5..15% of the total of your active demon's stamina plus intellect. (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: A very nice talent that works well with fel stamina and fel intellect and can add about 100+ spell power. A talent well worth investing in.

-Tier 8-

Demonic Tactics - Increases the damage caused by you and your summoned demon by 1..5% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: 5% damage is 5% damage at the end of the day. this is a nice filler talent to the felguard or a nice talent if you are looking for more damage :)

-Tier 9-

Summon Felguard - Summons a Felguard under the command of the warlock. (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: The felguard is a good pet, high dps with a 6 second cleave with hits an extra target. Also has an intercept which is useful for catching a runner or stopping a cast. an all around pet and very useful for 41 points.

2c) Destruction

-Tier 1-

Improved Shadowbolt - Your shadowbolt critical strikes increases shadow damage dealt to the target by 4..20% until 4 non periodic damage sources are applied, effect lasts a maximum of 12 seconds (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: An amazing talent so low in the tree, what the talent means is that when you crit with shadowbolt, the next 4 shadowbolts will do 20% more damage. this actually turns out that shadowbolts with this talent and ruin have a 270% (!) crit damage on average (over time). Note: all dot ticks while the effect is active will do 20% more damage.

Cataclysm - Reduces the mana cost of your destruction spells by 1..5% (5 points)
PvP Rating:
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: There is no reason to take this spell over improved shadowbolt (except if you happen to be firelock), but if you somehow cant work out where to put 5 more points then this is 5% more casting shadowbolts. weak talent for 5 points.

-Tier 2-

Bane - Reduces the cast time of your shadowbolt and immolate spells by 0.1..0.5 seconds, and your soul fire spell by 0.4..2 seconds (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Comment: A fantastic talent for raiding and pvp alike, bane adds 20% dps to shadowbolt spam and at 2.5 seconds shadowbolt becomes castable in pvp. Soul fire becomes 4 second cast, and with the new coefficients this is one hefty fast cast nuke.

Aftermath - Gives your destruction spells a 2..10% chance to daze the target for 5 seconds (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: A decent filler talent if you cant find anywhere else, although at 10% chance its not reliable enough to be significantly useful.

-Tier 3-

Improved Firebolt - Reduces the cast time of your imp's firebolt spell by 0.5..1 second.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: A fun talent when used in conjunction with the improved imp talent and the black book epic trinket for uber gattling gun imp :) commonly used in heavy destruction builds when the imp is used most. Seen more on alliance since they cant use the succubus.

Improved Lash of Pain - Reduces the cooldown of your succubus' lash of pain spell by 3..6 seconds. (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: This talent in conjunction with the improved succubus talent can be used to achieve quite high pet dps. situational.

Devastation - Increases the critical strike chance of your destruction spells by 1..5% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: 5% crit is great, one of those talents you just get, no questions asked :)

Shadowburn - Instantly Blasts the target for 91-104 (597-665 max rank) shadow damage, if the target dies within 5 seconds of shadowburn and yields experience or honor then the caster gains a soul shard. Costs a soul shard to use. (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: an instant cast nuke on a 15 sec cooldown, very useful in pvp where burst is king, less useful in pve.

-Tier 4-

Intensity - Gives a 35..70% chance to avoid interruption caused by damage while casting or channeling any destruction spell (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: This is a fantastic talent for only 2 points, extremely useful when you.. just...neeed.. to cast that shadowbolt when being hit ^^

Destructive Reach - Increases the range of your Destruction spells by 10..20% and reduces threat caused by 5..10% (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: Another favourite talent, increased range is always nice but now with an added 10% threat reduction this talent is as good as gold.

Improved Searing Pain - Increases The critical Strike chance of your searing pain spell by 4..10% (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating:
Comment: A very useful pvp talent as it boosts searing pains crit chance through the roof, when this talent is combined with immolate conflagarate and shadowburn it can cause alot of upfront burst damage.

-Tier 5-

Pyroclasm - Gives your Rain of Fire, Hellfire and soul fire spells a 13..26% chance to stun the target for 3 seconds. (2 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating:
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: A situational talent, that doesnt work too well with the aoe sides, but very nicely with soulfire. not gamebreaking though :(

Improved Immolate - increases the initial damage of your immolate spell by 5..25% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: A nice talent which helps boost immolate up to the scaling of searing pain. very useful for those working towards conflagarate.

Ruin - Increases the critical strike damage bonus of your destruction spells by 100% (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: Quite possibly the most well known talent of the destruction tree, basically makes your critical strikes do double damage. a 1000 shadowbolt will become a 2000 crit. NOTE: ITS PASSIVE!

-Tier 6-

Nether Protection - After being hit with a shadow or fire spell, you have a 10..30% chance to become immune to shadow and fire spells for 4 seconds (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: If you get this talent you will be hated by shadowpriests, mages and other warlocks. its just TOO DAMN NICE!

Emberstorm - Increases the damage done by your fire spells by 2..10% (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: The fire equivalent of shadow mastery, 10% is 10% :) good talent.

-Tier 7-

Backlash - Increases your critical strike chance with spells by an additional 1..3% and gives you an 8..25% chance when hit to reduce the cast time of your next shadowbolt or incinerate by 100%, this effect can only occur once every 8 seconds and lasts for 8 seconds.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: An interesting talent which seems to be very useful in pvp, not so useful in group pve where you arent getting hit as much, nice for solo pve though.

Conflagarate - Ignites the target that is already afflicted by Immolate, dealing 249-316 (632-788 max rank) fire damage and consuming the immolate. (1 point)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Comment: Another burst damage spell, very very powerful and when used in conjunction with searing pain and shadowburn can be very deadly. Very recommended.

Soul Leech - Gives your shadowbolt, shadowburn, soul fire, incinerate, searing pain and conflagarate spells a 10..30% chance to return health equal to 20% of the damage caused (3 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: Useful for raiding as any health gained works towards life taps, but overall not an overly impressive talent.

-Tier 8-

Shadow and Flame - Your shadowbolt and incinerate spells gain an additional 4..20% of your bonus spell damage effects. (5 points)
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺☺☺
Comment: This talent scales better than shadow mastery at very high +damage gear, although if you do not have high spell damage gear this talent wont give you much of a boost. But very nice overall.

-Tier 9-

Shadowfury - Shadowfury is unleashed, causing 343-407 (612-728 max rank) shadow damage and stunning all enemies within 8 yards for 2 seconds, 0.5 seconds cast.
PvP Rating: ☺☺☺☺☺
Solo PvE Rating: ☺☺☺
Raid PvE Rating: ☺☺
Comment: This talent is a targetted aoe similar to rain of fire, but with a 0.5 sec cast time which stuns for 2 seconds. the global cooldown is only 0.5 seconds and is therefore possible to cast up to 2 seconds worth of casting during the stun. Downsides are you have to stop moving to target the spell and again to cast, unlike grenades which can be thrown while running, though very usefull, this spell needs a little love.

4) Spell Co-Efficients

Mekkapiano (Executus) :

Spell calculations as of 2.0.

The following are final multipliers and are not mentioned in the formulas:

* Shadow Mastery: 10% shadow
* Emberstorm: 10% fire
* Contagion: 5% Curse of Agony, Corruption, Seed of Corruption
* Curse of Shadow: 10% shadow (13% with Malediction)
* Curse of the Elements: 10% fire (13% with Malediction)
* Soul Link: 3% all schools
* Demonic Tactics: 5% all schools

This wasn't the case before patch 2.0, but now everything applies in the manner you'd expect.

For example, if you have Curse of Shadow, Soul Link and Demonic Tactics, that's a final multiplier of 1.10 * 1.03 * 1.05 = 1.18965 (19%). Another example: Curse of Shadow, Shadow Mastery and Contagion = 1.2705 (27%) to Curse of Agony, Corruption and Seed of Corruption.

I also provide example damage for someone with +500dmg in gear. No talents, buffs or debuffs are included in those calculations for simplicity.

Also note that crit chance and procs is not included and no attempt is made to analyse average long term damage. That would be an incredibly long post in itself!

Note:
DPS = Damage per second (damage done by the spell over its total duration)
DPM = Damage per mana (damage done for the mana cost)
DPCT = Damage per cast time (damage done by the spell for the time it took to cast)
Gear coefficient = What percentage of your gear goes to increasing the spell's damage
Gear-to-DPS = What percentage of your gear goes to increasing DPS using this spell (i.e taking cast time into account)

5) Dreadsteed guide

-------------------------------------------------
Info: this quest costs a lot, but gives you the mount + 150 riding skill for considerably less than it costs a normal player to get the same.
After it's complete you can now buy any mount available for your class for a mere 80G if you have the required rep (ie, you got free 150 riding skill with this quest)

doing this quest is highly recommended.
-------------------------------------------------

Info primarily taken from http://www.wowwiki.com/Dreadsteed , which is the guide I followed to do the quest myself. (Also has more detailed explanations of the following steps)

Part one:
You’ll get a quest from your usual warlock trainer to go speak to Mor'zul Bloodbringer in the Burning steppes
(location: http://www.thottbot.com/?m=618465)

He gives a pretty simple, but a little boring, quest to collect 30x Raging Beast's Blood (http://www.thottbot.com/?it=18590) from the moonkin in Winterspring.
After collecting them (approx 20% droprate when I did it) return to him, then complete the next quest by speaking to his imp companion.

After this you will get more quests. The first require gathering many trade materials only, the last is another mini-questline.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Trade Mats part

-1 Bell of Dethmoora http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7626
10x Elixir of Shadow Power (mats required to make: 30xGhost mushroom, 10x crystal vial)

-2 Wheel of the Black March http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7627
6x Large Brilliant Shard
25x Dark Iron Ore

-3 Doomsday Candle http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7628
35x Black Dragonscale

Once the above are completed, you get one final trade mats quest to complete:
Arcanite http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7630
3x Arcanite bar

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Small questline part

Lord Banehollow http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7623

>> You need 156Gold before starting this quest <<

Purchase the Shadowy Potion (http://www.thottbot.com/?i=37168, costs 6G) from Mor'zul Bloodbringer’s imp Gorzeeki Wildeyes before leaving to do this quest.
Travel to Jaedenar in Felwood. Drink a potion then run through the cave system to the end. (Note, the correct cave is the not the one closest to the road in Jaedenar, but the one right at the back) Apart from a few oozes you can dodge, the potion will make all mobs friendly to you.

Lord Banehollow will make you do another quest before he’ll sell you the quest item you need: kill a traitor in Jaedenar called Ulathek. Backtrack a little to find him, then speak to him. He and a few guards will then turn hostile, kill him (I did Howl of Terror, DoTed him then just ran away. The dots eventually killed him while the guards eventually reset and run back after a certain distance)

Return to Lord Banehollow, then speak to his imp, who will sell you the required Xorothian Stardust quest item for exactly 150Gold.
(note: you get 3x shadowy potions at the start of this mini-questline, I managed easily with one, so plenty of room for error :) )

And the final part of this mini-questline:
Return to Mor'zul Bloodbringer in the Burning steppes again, who will give you an imp in a jar, and instructions to take him to the alchemy lab in Scholomace to create the final summoning scroll http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7629

You can either make a quick scholo run to the alchemy lab (next to the Ras Froswhisper mini-boss, possible to do this without killing Ras if needed) or just complete this on a regular Scholomace run.

At this point you can return to Mor'zul Bloodbringer yet again to get the final Dreadsteed quest (http://www.thottbot.com/?qu=7631 )
If you know a warlock with the summoning mats already, you can now take them and add 3 more members to make a normal Dire Maul West run. If you need the mats, read the last section of this guide

The Dreadsteed summon occurs on the final boss Immothar’s pedestal, so clear the 4x pylons to get to him first, then kill him.

Rather than retype out all of the info about the actual Summoning sequence, read/watcth the following: :D
http://www.wowwiki.com/Dreadsteed#The_Ritual
(explanation of the summon sequence)
http://video.google.co.uk/videoplay?docid=-907842903183401527
(video of the sequence)

As long as you have the two warlocks, enslave two of the four larger demons that appear during phase one, then get them to attack the other two that spawn, the quest is surprisingly easy then :) (and lots of fun!)

EDIT: Bring as many shards as physically possible if you're the only warlock with the summoning mats... I've used 18 or more soul shards on a single summon sequence before...

EDIT: Patch 2.0.1 either changed the demons or bugged them, as they are currently unable to be enslaved at all

So i'd highly recommend to either bring along more than one tank in the group to tank these demons, or more than one warlock so you have multiple banishes to use on them at the moment.

Summoning Items: (if you can’t find a warlock with these to help you)

Purchased from Mor'zul Bloodbringer’s Imp Gorzeeki Wildeyes
-Jeevee’s Jar (150 gold)
-Black Lodestone (50 gold)
-Xorothian Glyphs (50 gold)

Thanks for Nayson from Tarren mill for submitting these macros:

cast pet abilities 1

/cast [pet:Imp] Phase Shift; [pet:Voidwalker] Sacrifice; [pet:Succubus] Invisibility; [pet:felhunter, target=player] Devour Magic; [pet:Felguard] Intercept
/cast [pet:felhunter,modifier:alt] Devour Magic

Q u o t e:

This will devour dots from you. If you hold ALT and press it, it will devour buffs from a hostile target.
It will also perform an ability for each of the other four pets, VW bubble and Felguard intercept for example.

cast pet abilities 2

/focus [pet:succubus,modifier:alt]
/stopmacro [pet:succubus,modifier:alt]
/cast [pet:imp] Fire Shield; [pet:Voidwalker] Suffering; [pet:Succubus,target=focus] Seduction; [pet:Felhunter] Spell Lock;
/cast [pet:Voidwalker,modifier:alt] Consume Shadows

Q u o t e:

This means holding ALT and pressing it will set a focus. Then seduce will be cast on that focus no matter who im targeting. Good for heroics when you need to keep something under control.
Pressing ALT and the Macro again will clear your focus.
You can still seduce targets if you have no focus.

Greetings !

I would be interested in a levelling spec. for my new warlock (I play on a pvp server if it matters).

I am pretty new to the class and haven't much of a clue and it seems that the majority of the posts here are aimed to the lvl 60-70 range.

If I have missed some post where this is explained, could you please point me to it/them?

Thank you in advance !
