We're currently gathering class feedback from players for Wrath of the Lich King concerning thoughts on the areas of each class that is perceived to be most in need of improvement. This thread is not intended for discussion purposes and we ask that you please review the below format before presenting your feedback. It's very important for us to be able to review all provided feedback and as a result, not following the required format will very likely result in your post being removed.
  • List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

  • List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

  • Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

  • List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Please remember to be constructive when providing feedback, and avoid discussions with others so that this thread can remain a promising and reliable source for feedback. I am Destruction
Fighting the lost battle of doing PvP as non-SL/SL.
What I feel Destruction needs most is not defense as some claim (compared to lvl 60 we already got ALOT of defense) but offense and CC.

Fear was never usefull as Destro, DD's break it way too often, so people used to use a Succubus.
Succubus right now takes a cleave crit to kill, they don't even need to target her to kill her, and the CC itself is breakable by dispel (team PvP) and nowadays by the trinket too...

Then there's the scaling of our offensive abilities. My Searing Pain does about 200 more damage than it did at lvl 60. The hp of the people I cast it on has more than tripled.
It's so sad that if you have to chose between casting incinerates or casting Conflagrate youre actually better off casting Incinerate instead of our instant 31 pt talent once you reach about 1150 spell damage.

P.S.: Backlash dispell by a Hunter makes a Warlock cry.

Most to less, talents/ spells:

Shadow And Flame: This is a purely PvE talent in our PvP tree, and it is required to take if we want our pure-PvP 41 pt talent, which I feel is somewhat absurd. Note: This wouldn't be all that important, but all the good important talents of Destruction are in the higher Tiers.

Conflagrate: The "burst damage" it does is sad, and in no way worthy of 31 pt talent (comparing it with MS or Crusader Strike, similar Instant hits), already requiring us to spend 5 talents in a completely useless talent at lvl 70. I mean honestly, the initial damage of immolate is hardly worth spending 5 points in.

Aftermath: Tier 2 and requires 5 points for a 10 % chance to daze. Completely useless imho. Honestly, I dont think theres any class I'd use this against other than maybe hunters. Though if they are smart enough to use a frost trap it'd be useless any way.

Improved Searing Pain: If you calculate it, you will see that a warlock with 800 spelldamage, and 30% crit with talents included (PvP geared warlock with little spell damage), with Improved Searing Pain maxed out (so 40% crit on Searing Pain), BUT without Shadow And Flame talent, will STILL do more damage casting Incinerate instead of Searing Pain.
And as the warlock gets more spell damage, it will even get worse as Incinerate scales way better with Spell Damage than Searing Pain.

Summon Succubus: I say this because it's not just one aspect of the succubus that I feel is weak, its the entire existence of her. She is supposed to be the PvP/CC pet, but her CC is on same Deminishing Returns as Fear, mouseovermacros hardly work any more, and most of all, she gets oneshotted by AoE abilities. I don't think any succubus can survive a cleave +whirlwind from an equal geared warrior. And warriors having around 40% crit doesnt improve it either...

1. Affliction / Demonology
2. PVP, Solo, 5-mans, some 10-mans
3. old bg rep needs to get a reward. People get a mount for dropping 10000 eggs in skettis but dont get squat when they get exalted to wsg. (35 rep per flag, gg).
Making content more easy (remove epic npc's outside instances) doesnt make the game more fun.
Time for something really new, like siege weapons, epic pvp battles, realm versus realm etc.
4. Dots should crit.

Who needs backstab anyways

The Destruction tree.

It lacks in PvP beeing having to use castingtime all the time, witch will be interupted and attacked on all the time.
It is true the tallent tree has Backlash, and is the only DPS we get to use on any melee class.
The fact that a Warlock is easy to get to, and has problems getting form one, is a problem. The only thing we have to get peoples away, is by using Fear, Shadowfury or Seduce (Seduce is really bad today).

In PvE it is good if you are 0/21/40, however, this is the only spec that is able to come in the top of the damage-meters in PvE. It generates loads of threat, so the DPS gets reduced by having to actually stand still and wait some times.

The tallent tree seems to make us to Fire users, however, the Improved Shadowbolt gives a that big improvment in DPS, that spamming Shadowbolts is the best thing to do with the tallent tree.

I suggest the tallent tree gets a boost of Fire-damage, a way to be more able to not getting interupted in casting-time for PvP and more instant spells.

Primary talent trees: Affliction and Demonology
Primarily persuing PvP, but also raiding from time to time.

- The destruction tree needs mobility for PvP, since it is pretty pathetic at the moment.
It's viability is really under sea level. The tree character and graphical intuition has a huge potential, so please work on this.

- A different PvP intuition than using DoT's and draintanking. The above tree would make up for it.

Primary Spec: Demonology


Content preference: All / No preference


Areas that need addressing:

(a) Destruction spec needs to made viable again for PvP. Beyond shadowfury and Backlash, the defence/escape we has is generally poor now that all CC is standardised at 10 seconds, and our primary defence, fear, is almost redundant.

(b) SL/SL spec should be re-balanced so it's not the only spec to grind Honor/Arena points with. This should be done in character with warlock lore, and not simultaneously nerf other talent specs.


Spell/Ability fixes:
1) Make corruption an instant, and remove the need for 5 points in it in the talent tree.

2) Re-design enslavement/improve enslave so it's more than temporary demon CC. Get rid of enslavement need on Infernals/Doomguards, or make their power as suitable as the hassle required in obtaining, summoning, and maintaining them.

3) Move Demonic Sacrifice out from Demo into one of the other tree's. Demo is all about linking and being enhanced by your pets, it is more in keeping with the other specs to sacrifice them for greater power.

4) Succubus: whip should hit faster, re-design 'improved succubus' since pvp '10 second' seduction limit has made it a waste of points, give her the ability to mabye avoid the occaisional attack and therefore not get two-shotted

5) Escape mechanism: some kind of passive melee escape like the old spellstone shield required (only one involves killing VW atm), or speed up the cooldown of deathcoil, mabye at the expense of how much it heals for.

Primary Tree(s): Destruction

Content: PVP!

Areas in most need of improvements:
- Lack of defense vs melee! We have no defense at all vs. melee, short of PvP trinket, we need a real ability to survive vs melee. I'm not only talking arena, but all PvP in general. Should also add that it's not only the dmg from them we cant prevent as well as range, interuption etc. but also stuns, we can be stunlocked to death if PvP trinket is on cooldown. This lack of defense is our largest issue

- Mana inefficiency! As a destro lock you go OOM fast as hell when nuking. In PvE it's ok to me because we can lifetap and often also get healed, but in PvP, lifetap = death in many situations, especially vs melee but in places like arena you can spend half your time lifetaping rather than doing your duties. I blame this mostly on spells with too high mana cost (=immolate, shadowburn, nukes etc) as well as a useless talent in form av Cataclysm.

- We do have issues with resilience and Line of Sight, but those are 2 things that can't be altered, so I will simply say that we have a lot of useless talents in general, so that's is my 3rd issue, make them good we have to THINK hard when we spec!

List 5 spells/abilities/talents that are in most need of change/redesign/improvement, MOST to LESS!

1. The two demon talents in destruction tree, remove and replace with DESTRUCTION TALENTS! Improved Lash of Pain and Improved Firebolt respectively. I put them together because they are just as useless.

2. Talent Cataclysm is extremely bad, while the tier-alternative is one of the best talents we have, but it doesn't help fire spells at all, which makes us 1) Mana inefficient and 2) Makes shadow far more stronger than fire, which is sad. BUFF IT LIKE HELL, maybe 3/3 (5-10-15%) less mana cost with an added spell hit, spell crit or similar and maybe add incinerate to Imp SB to help fire locks.

3. Firestone: The most useless stone we have, 1) we DONT melee, we are casters you ****** and the fire bonus to spells is waay to low and no stats at all. My suggestion: Change it to a dmg bonus as well as a proc, i.e. "Equip: Increases damage done by Fire spells by 50. Change on hit: Give your fire spells a _% chance to do an additional 100 fire damage on hit." That would help both in PvE and PvP. Probably not better than spellstone in many situations in PvP, but devoted destro locks would probably use both and switch between them, would be fun. :)

4. Talent 'Pyroclasm' is uselss in both PvE and PvP, you never use Rain of Fire and Hellfire, and you almost never get a Soul Fire off anyway. Change it! Preferably to a general stun, like "all fire spells gets a 3/6/10 % chance to stun the target for 3 sec", that would also make fire locks more viable from a PvP point of view.

5. Talent Improved Corruption. We are a debuffer class and Corruption is our MAIN DOT, and it's our only true dot as well as the only one with CASTING TIME! You shouldn't force us to spec 5pts to get our most basic spell instant, make corr instant as standard and change the talent to improve it somehow.

3. Destruction PvP needs defensive skills and abilities.
Felguard scaling with gear, it should get a percentage of players hit and crit, and more from stats & dmg.
Demonology raiding should work without getting 2/5 T5 parts and Void Star talisman, because at the moment those are more or less mandatory to maintain good dps in raids.

4. 1st. Imp. Corruption talent should be removed because it's non-logical to spend 5 talentpoints to make it instant and it doesn't even get same +spelldmg like other 2s casttimed spells.

2nd. Fel Concentration should apply to Unstable Affliction and Seed of Corruption too. It's way too hard to get UA casted through when you have rogue or warrior hitting you. SoC for more pve purpose if you are getting aoe damage at the same time.

3rd. Felguard scaling is bad at the moment, above is the list what it needs.

4th. Affliction should scale highend PvE better so it would be on par with destro when it comes to dps.
Make Hasterating to affect on DoT tickrate.

5th. Soul Leech should be changed to something that is more reliable than 30%, something that is constant but it heals less, useful for raiding.

Destruction 6/8/47 - Solo & Instancing up to 10 man raids, Arena, and BG PVP.

Issues:

1. A reliable escape mechanism is needed from melee classes in PVP. Survival rate against most melee classes is very low at best, against equally armored combatants.
2. Less reliance on Fear based mechanisms for both PVE & PVP. Fear has poor reliability and allows hardly any control, it is also unpleasant and unpopular for other classes and has very situational use within PVE.
3. Warlock balance review. For too long Warlocks have suffered from a specification pendulum effect. talent trees and general balance fluctuate from over powered to undesirable excessively & frequently. This class needs a close rethink to prevent relatively minor class changes within and to other classes from dramatically altering the Warlock play style & performance.

Ability Changes:

1. Soul Link position moved to prevent over powered specs like the recent SL/SL issues.
2. Improved Corruption - please make this spell instant via training - this is almost a forced cookie cutter talent.
3. Cataclysm - returns are too low for a 5 point talent
4. Aftermath - high point cost for very low impact.
5. Improved curse of weakness - An ineffective spell which isn't worth buffing via talents

Spell/Ability fixes:
1) Make unstable affliction instant - AFL Locks never get a chance to cast it.

2) Replace talents that noone ever uses (and I literally noone, not even in the complete history of WoW) like "emproved curse of weakness" - "improved enslave demon" - "Master conjurer"

3) Improve Demonic Sacrifice: For example: soullink + succubus = +15% dmg + demonic kwowlegde ----> sacrife = only 15%

4) Improve Demonic tactics: give it either 2%/3% or change it completely: A DoT warlock doesn't need crit anyway!

5) Improve Felgaurd: buff this one, its completely useless, especially compared to the felhunter @ PvP

Primary Talent Tree: Destruction

Content End Game Raiding

Defence Fear is our primary defence, but it is so easily countered and unreliable.

Debuff Limits With more offspecs being viable, we risk our debuffs (aswell as other classes) being knocked off. Also our curses which are one of the best debuffs not getting priority over other ones.

Affliction Scalability Since only shadowbolt gains effects from crit, alot of itemisation is wasted on gear which would not benefit a affliction warlock as much as it would if it was just spell damage, forcing most warlocks to go shadow destruction end game.

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Improved Firebolt / Lashof Pain: These 2 talents in the destruction tree benefit our pets. These are not only useless but are also in the wrong talent tree.

Master Conjurer: A firestone will never be used by a warlock ever since its completely useless. Spellstone is ok for pvp, but the talent only benefits the crit from it which is marginal at best. Maybe make it reduce the cooldown of soulstone by 5/ 10 minutes to give demo a bit more utility.

Improved Enslave Demon: Enslave has very limited uses, the last time i used it in a year was about Nagrand quests. Should be replaced with something else.

Pyroclasm: Seed of corruption is our primary aoe spell. Hellfire and Rain of fire are outdated. Soul fire has a 1minute cooldown which means every 4mins a soul fire should proc a small stun

Cataclysm: The 5% mana over points is not worth the points. Our mana sustainability is fine in raiding so there is no reason whatsoever to spec for it, not to mention a huge 5 talents it cost.

1.Destruction.

2.I mostly enjoy PvP in all kind of forms, arena, World PvP and BGs.

3. I feel the area that really needs som help here is mobility and survivability.
Some say that we should'nt have more survivability but instead that we need more damage due to fear and Seduction beeing pretty worthless in PvP nowadays, due to nerfed durations etc etc.

If we were to get a fix for mobility and survivability, i'd suggest a "blink" sort of spell in deep destruction.

Ex: "Afterburn",
Cost: 13 % of base mana.
"When Afterburn is triggered, you get teleported 18 yards forward towards the direction you are facing."

And if we were to recieve more damage to be able to keep up with the HP pools, resilience etc, i think another deep talent in destro would be needed, and it should work like a "shatter" (a slight version of the mages shatter). Since destruction is very based around crits, not only logically, but also if you look at the talents, this is a good solution to help us keep up a bit in PvP.

Ex: "Seductive Weakness"
Passive effect.
"When a target is under the effect of a succubus seduction, your shadow bolt, incinerate, immolate and searing pain spell have a 10/20/30/40/50 % extra chance to crit the target."

This would be good considering seduce is very easy to break, any DoT damage, suffers from diminishing returns and its trinketable, so i dont think it would make us overpowered.

4. The 5 spells i think need some revamping:

Cataclysm. (5 % mana reduction on destruction spells are quite unhandy if you're gonna be PvPing. Its good in a raiding PoV i guess, even though 5 % is a bit to low. Should also recieve another effect if 5 % is gonna stay, such as "chance to enter felcasting state, your next destruction spell is free of cost." Though it might have to be moved a bit further into the tree then.

Aftermath (Really, with hardly any mobility, pretty much all classes have snares, how are we supposed to make use of a daze effect in an effective way worth the 5 points? It should be changed to a stun proc instead of daze proc.)

Shadowburn (The shard cost is quite inappropriate. If you think about it, destruction is a bit "mageish", and when you compare most direct damage instant casts with shadowburn, you will find that not only does it cost a reagent, its an 11 point talent ability and it has a way to high mana cost.)

Improved Lash of Pain (I thought this was a demonology talent. Why not replace it with something that helps destruction locks a bit instead.. Maybe a new talent that increases hit chance on all destruction spells for the PvE locks, since there are none +hit talents in destruction, yet its one of the best PvE specs atm.)

Improved Corruption (This should be removed, and corruption should be made instant, as it was said a long way back. I even think a blue posted that it would become instant by default.)

Raiding when possible (to find 10 people some time is difficult) then Pvp and Grinding i like to Grind

Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement:

Pets underscale when i grow on gear
Blizzard developers should haven't to give attention to whiners especially when they call unsolicited and class brokening nerfs (imho a policy of perma banning when a cry start should be good)

List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

new talent improved soul link (1/2): your pet will receive 10%/20% of all heal that you receive (really good for pve imho)

some defensive and escape talents are due for lock class ethereal form spell should be a good thing
for locks may be it need to be fixed and buffed

please make viable to use in game Doomguard and Infernal

Primary tree:

Destruction

Playing style:

Instance runs, raiding in the future. Used to dabble a bit in PvP, but destruction changed from strong PvP to worst PvP after expansion.

Concerns:

Balancing out pointless talents would be my main interest. I cannot stand redundant and useless talents. There is no point in having a fancy talent tree when people are going to spec exactly the same talents all the time because the alternatives are useless.

1. Do something with cataclysm, aftermath, and the improved minion spell talents in the destruction tree. Right now they are quite useless because the alternatives at the same tiers are so much better. Add something we need instead, like spell hit chance.

2. Give destruction some means of being viable in PvP.

3. Make our Infernal and Doomguard spells viable. Removing the death of one of our teammates from the Doomguard spell would be nice.

Suggested talent change ideas:

1. Aftermath: Ok, so you pick this, and you manage to daze your opponent. What now? Will that lowered movement speed matter in any way? Hardly, since destruction requires you to stand still when casting your next spell, nullifying your chance of gaining any distance from your foe. Another problem with this is that it shares a tier with bane, which is a killer talent for tier 2.

Solution: Switch places with cataclysm. This way those interested in a fire oriented destro spec can drop the improved shadowbolt and get a talent that is more noticeable than cataclysm. A proc chance buff of an additional 5-10% might be needed as well, considering other classes get 10% stun chance at tier 1, and we only get 10% daze.

2. Cataclysm: This talent is a joke when placed next to a killer talent as the improved shadowbolt. 5% reduced mana cost is hardly noticeable.

Solution: Switch places with Aftermath and make this talent give 1-5% destruction spell hit chance bonuses instead, or 2/4/6/8/10% mana reduction.

3. The deeper in the demonology tree you spec, the more you want to hang on to using your own demons. This makes the improved enslave talent a bad choice this far down in the tree.

Solution: Move the improved enslave talent up a tier and/or make it increase the duration of the spell up to 8-10 seconds.

4. The firestone is not particularly useful unless you are going for a full fire spec build. Unfortunately, this is impossible to combine with the talent that gives improved firestones and spellstone, due to bad talent placement.

Solution: Move the improved fire/spellstone talent up a tier.

5. Demonic Sacrifice as a requirement for Soul Link is illogical. The entire talent is illogical in the demonology tree. Move it to one of the other trees.

Shard Bags. I am still waiting for stats on them.
1Passive meele defense for destro and probably affliction, something lile "if stunned 3sec immune to physical damage, this effect occurs max 1/minute, skillable 35 points 33% chance per point. (inspired by cheat death)
2. Corruption: 5 Points to make it instant while it is the key dot are way to much. Make it instant from the beginning.
3. Let Spell Crit affect Dots exactly opposite to resilence, for example 10% Crit -> 10% increased Dot Dmg

5. Demonic sacrifice. Make it buyable with an reduced effect or place it elsewhere in the tree or in another tree. It is pointless to spend 20 Points which mainly enhance your demons as prerequisite for sacrificing them

Talent: Destro/Demo

Most enjoyed: 5-man Dungeon, Battleground


Most in Need of Improvement:
Please balance the classes in a manner of logic. How can a leather wearing, animal skinning, instinctive, clueless nature man can understand the deepest darkness of all the curses and so can dispel them? A LVL 70 LOCK CURSE? It’s like locks using tickle as a talent to stun hunter pets for 45 secs.
Nonsense at all.

1-Our dps is good but we lack defense and escape abilities after the alteration of fear.

2- Class balance: Warlock class made underpowered and changed that we can’t keep up to adapt and we do lose our appetite. Also some classes got new unbalanced and OVERpowered talents against us. We were having really fun before. We want it back please.

3- Either make Aftermath, Pyroclasm and Soul Leech properly work or remove them. %5 less mana cost doesn’t interest anybody. Improved Firebolt and Improved Lash of Pain needs a really good revision, after all the revisions done on imp and succubus and others. Or exchange them as well.

4- All 3 school’s final talent need revisions. UA needs instant or shorter casting time or overall spell haste, felguard needs improvement and shadowfury is good as it is “WITHOUT SHARD NEED!”

5- Melee has some kind of special defense. All wearers have armors though caster classes need base elemental resistances in all the high-end gear as well.

Suggestion: Guilds can have a special buff as well. Belonging a guild you gain a small specialty like 0.05 melee resistance or a special thing. I can imagine millions of things. Being a unity needs a meaningful reward i believe.

Final note: Of all the things aside, the most powerful part of Blizzard’s success lies under the tales. Strong story structure. Please keep in mind while doing what you’r doing. I mean balance. For the last word. Thanks.
