We're currently gathering class feedback from players for Wrath of the Lich King concerning thoughts on the areas of each class that is perceived to be most in need of improvement. This thread is not intended for discussion purposes and we ask that you please review the below format before presenting your feedback. It's very important for us to be able to review all provided feedback and as a result, not following the required format will very likely result in your post being removed.
  • List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

  • List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

  • Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

  • List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Please remember to be constructive when providing feedback, and avoid discussions with others so that this thread can remain a promising and reliable source for feedback. It's also important to note that we're not looking for suggestions on how aspects of your class can be improved, but rather which areas are in need of improvement by your own assessment. When we have collected enough feedback we will reply back to this thread thanking everyone for their assistance, and the thread will be locked. Thank you very much for your participation!

Primary Talent Tree: Arcane
Focus: PvE Raiding

Issues:

Dispel Mechanics are overpowered and cheap when compared to the cost of the buffs they remove. In any environment where Dispel mechanics come into play, buff and debuff focused classes suffer. These spells and effects need a higher resistance to Dispel mechanics. This is an issue that seriously affects mages and shaman, who lack any dispel resistance at all.

Mana issues are also critical. Unlike warlocks (our primary competition for PvE ranged magical DPS), we have a limited mana pool (Warlocks have an effectively unlimited mana pool, and effectively gain double mana from Shadow Priests). We're supposed to be the primary mana using class, but other classes simply outdo us on mana utility and regeneration. And before you troll out the usual answer, no spirit isn't the answer. We can't afford those item points and still maintain competitive damage. A passive trait increasing our mana regain from all sources (including JoWisdom and Shadow Priests) would help here.

The last is that we lack utility to make a significant difference to large scale arena battles. In Arena, the critical functions are healing reduction and mana drain. While slow theoretically does the former, it also does the latter to us, and as such is useless! We could really use a spell to increase the mana cost of the targets spells or some similar effect.

Specific things:

Amplify Magic (Arcane Spell), Dampen Magic (Arcane Spell) and Magic Attunement (Arcane Talent, 2/2, 3rd Tier). Magic Attunement should be altered to reduce the negative effect of Amplify and Dampen Magic instead of increasing them. This would change Amplify and Dampen Magic into much more useful buffs when in the hands of an Arcane spec mage. In keeping with this, Amplify and Dampen Magic should also have their duration increased to 30 minutes, and an area version should be implemented.

Wand Specialisation (Arcane Talent, 2/2, 2nd Tier). This Talent should be removed or altered significantly. This spot in the talent tree would be an ideal place to put Dispel Mechanic resistance. Alternatively, a Talent effect to return mana based on wand damage would be useful. Currently, wands are useless, even with this talent.

Arcane Fortitude (Arcane Talent, 1/1, 3rd Tier). This talent should be removed. This would be an ideal place for Improved Evocation (reduction of CD or increased effect) or Dispel Resistance.

Mana Shield (Arcane Spell), Improved Mana Shield (Arcane Talent, 2/2, 4th Tier). Mana Shield, and Improved Mana Shield doesn't really help that very much. This spell and talent need to have significantly improved absorbtion. A spell that doesn't even take a single hit isn't really a shield at all.

Slow (Arcane Talent, 9th Tier). This talent is far too situational for its position in the tree, and it costs far too much mana for the duration. This talent could be improved by including melee attack speed into its effects, and by reworking it into a "Temporal Shift" form, which would be castable on friendly targets in reverse effect (i.e 50% increased movement, casting and ranged speed). Regardless of this, Mana cost compared to duration is currently far too high, especially considering the lack of dispel resistance.

Main specc :Frost arena 17/0/44 Secondary Specc: Elementalist fun pvp 0/30/31
Content:BG,Arena,rarely pve

Mage pvp:It's sad that we forced to specc frost to be "usefull" in arenas and the whole mage pvp
based around ice lance. It's just too easy to counter/pushpack the 2,5 sec cast frostbolt (pathetic pvp dps
that's it).

We are also vulnerable to dispell (AI: -600 mana,Ice Armor/Molten armor:we lose our main melee defense without impact/frostbite that come from those armors,Ice Barrier: 1075+ (based on spell damage) damage absorb so if this gets dispelled that's -1075 to us,if Icy Veins is a magic effect (i don't know i didn't saw it yet) that's another important buff lose, sheep, slow, frost nova, frostbite, scorch debuff, frostbolt slowing all of them dispellable by just pressing one button).

The next problem is our mana, our spells cost too much mana and we don't got enough,i think that's our biggest weakness in pvp, our damage usually got outhealed and when we oom that's the end of the story.

So i said healing...it's just lame and laughable when you see a mage fightning against a healer...it's just pathetic. While the other classes only have problem with resto druids,we have problems with all.

Resilience and huge stamina in TBC is a nerf for mage pvp.Our class based on fast killing with the huge crits. These long fights are pain for a mage.

A few comment about some spells:

Sheep:The best PvE CC and the worst in PvP,breaking on damage, fast regen, dispellable and it can break early (Fear too,i know but without regen effect and damage breaking).

Spellsteal:too much mana,global cd,random effect stolen.It's very situational,it's good in 1 from 200 fight
when you can spellsteal a powerfull spell (Awenging Wrath,Arcane Power,Blessing of Freedom, etc) but it will get dispelled soon anyway...

Flamestrike:the most retarded aoe from all, long casting time, small range, small radius.

Invisibility: 5 sec fading is too much and the effect is too noticable for everyone,so they will throw a dot or an instant on us.Also it needs some extra effect like:mana regen increased while invisible or +10% damage on any spell you cast for 10 seconds after you break invisibility.

Mana Shield:we are already short on mana, this spell eat a lot mana.Yes you can absorb some damage with it which is nice but the mana drained not worth it since you will be oom a lot faster so you will be a free kill.

A few things about some talents:

Useless talents in arcane tree:
-Wand Specializaton: uhm...no comment :P
-Magic Attunement:buffing those 2 spells that ain't help a lot is useless
-Arcane Fortitude:same as wand specialization
-Improved Mana Shield:not too much improvement,it's still eating a lot's of mana

Not so useless but very situational:
-Slow:In PvE it's nearly useless,in pvp it's good for kite but nothing amazing

Fire tree:
Improved Flamestrike:+15% crit on a lame spell,no thx

Frost:
Frozen core:locks got immunity chance for Fire,Shadow. We got some damage reduction on 2 spell school and those used by mages mostly (kk Destro locks but they also got shadow damage)

Damn i wrote too much i hope it isn't a problem Vaneras :S

Okay:

Basically, regarding all trees, for solo pvp and arena.

1) Line of Sight issues are a problem for us, and as you know, many people abuse this in arena.

2) Fire surviablity. Now, as you know, PvP has been made all about survival, and reduced the chance of burst to stop "quick kill". Now this is what fire is all about, so, imo, it needs some anti-resilliance talents, and damage buffed above frost, to make it worth losing the surviablity of frost. Also, see point one. ice block really did help, but thats once every 5 minutes you gain the survability.

3)Hypothermia. Remove it or shorten it please. :\

5 talents that need improving: to be short:

frozen core, wand spec, arcane fortitude, improved blink, playing with fire..

Hope this helped, feel free to ask if anything else is needed. :3

Frost build

Prefer pvp

Frost needs some kind of talent to reduce pushbacks.

For pve, wand damage needs buffed to equal the damage of an auto-attacking hunter / enh shaman. Maybe with a talent to gain mana back on wand damage.

- Primary Talent Tree: Frost

- Favorite Content: Battlegrounds & World PvP

- Area that needs improvements
1) Mana management. In BGs and world PvP running out of mana for a mage is the same as death. Even defensive spells are useless if I run out of mana during a fight. The primary defensive spell (Blink for me) has a too high mana cost I think.

2) Frost mages need some kind of spell pushback protection, because sometimes a 2,5 sec frostbolt will be a 7 sec frostbolt. of course we have instant casts but we can only use ice lance or other instants which have cooldowns. Arcane Explosion can be spammed but is too mana extensive to use (and does not have a large range).

3) Viability of frost in raids: Fire, Arcane and Frost should be options in PvE and PvP. Giving Ice Block to fire and arcane mages is a great start. Make some changes in frost to be a bit more viable in raids.

- Five spells/abilities/talents that need change:
1) Water elemental has a bit low HP compared to other classes' pets. It's a 41point talent, it has a cooldown and it isn't a permanent pet so a bit higher HP would be nice. Maybe a 1-3 point talent will be good named "Improved water elemental" or something.

2) Spellsteal is now completely useless. It has a very high maan cost and almost all classes have an anti-dispel talent.

3) Polymorph needs to have its healing ability removed or fixed in another way. If I cast it in PVP, it will be around a 4,5 sec cast and I can't use it in combat because it heals my target to full hp.

4) Invisiblity is useful in PVE but it would be nice if it can be used in PVP more effective.

1. Damage needs to be more than what it is. There is no reason why we should get outdamage by hybrid classes. Ever.

2. Having to constantly move during raidbosses. Sure it's nice to not just stand still and spamm a button but our dps drops to 0(give some kind of dot?) maybe one that will steal some mana and we won't have to rely on another class to have above 500 dps on boss encounters.

3. Stats distribution on our sets are horrible. With the change of Evocation spirit is useless and so is the Spell penetration. Focus more on pure spelldmg and crit. More stamina aswell.

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

1. Invisibility - An aggro dump is nice but it needs to almost be instant similiar to warlock's soulshatter. Pulling aggro and then using Invisibility is not possible because it takes too much time to fade.

2. Playing with Fire - Mages are already the class with lowest stamina, taking a must-have talent for fire raiding shouldn't make you more vulnerable to the enemy.

3. Polymorph - Why does it still heal the target? Remove it completly or increase the duration between healing ticks.

Probably more but can't think of any atm.

Note: This is all focused on arena pvp.
Spec: Deep frost

Main problem: Mages are pretty much only main DPS class to lose against healers 1v1 because of lack of high damage and poor mana efficiency.

Reasons for this:

1- Resilience destroys mages, makes arcane and fire near worthless which were only good in the first place due to high burst damage.

Result: Every single mage is deep frost specced for pvp. Frost is only viable spec for pvp and not by a little bit, by a long shot. This isn't really that big a problem, and the trainable ice block helps in this department. So its not really that big a deal.

2- Mage is practically only primary DPS class unable to beat good healers 1v1. Warlocks and rogues for example, do not suffer from this problem. We simply lack the burst damage, most of the time, to kill a healer fast enough in the limited silence time after a counterspell. Mages are supposed to be masters of burst damage and aoe, what happened?

Result: The fact still remains that it is virtually impossible for a mage to beat a well geared healer, ask any mage how it is 1v1 against a good healing priest, druid or shaman. This wouldn't be a problem if it wasn't for the fact that classes like rogues and warlocks don't have this problem. Quite the contrary, they completely run over healers. This is unfair to us, sorry, I don't see any reason for it. Don't buff us, its fine, but level the playing field for everyone else perhaps.

3- Mages mana usage is really poor. Most of our spells our very high cost (even ones which are necessary for survival such as blink). This isn't that big a problem either. BUT, what is a huge problem is next.

4- Seems every single class has a dispel or a mana drain of some sort. Even hunters dispel now, this makes our buffs almost completely useless in pvp. Our only dispel is spellsteal which costs a tremendous amount of mana and tends to get resisted a lot.

Result: We get spam dispelled, and almost every single class mana drains us. We go oom too fast. Even if we don't use spells. Its really really frustrating to lose against a SL/SL warlock who does nothing but mana drain the entire game but still beats you. You've been beaten by a 1 button wonder.

5- Counter classes. We've been told 100000 times that the game is not balanced around 1v1. Some of us have accepted that fact, its fine that we lose against some classes and win against others. Can't win them all. But why do we have SO many classes we are weak against whereas warlocks only have 1? We are a counter class to melee but a very good rogue or warrior can put up a very good fight before they go down, even kill us if we get unlucky or we lack cooldowns. We however, have it almost impossible against well geared warlocks and druids. There is practically NOTHING we can do. Its not fair to lose against another class simply because they outclass you completely even if they aren't as good as you. Its amazingly frustrating.

Result: Ask any mage to beat a good warlock or druid 1v1 and record it. Won't happen because we can almost never win period. The day I see a clip with a mage beating a 500 resi 13k+ hp SL/SL warlock 1v1 is the day I jump off a cliff in joy. Heck even 50% would do, won't happen against even a semi competent player.

6- LOS abuse greatly hurts classes like mages and hunters. Its fine to have some arenas with pillars and stuff but how about a few more with less obstacles, giving a fair chance to both kinds of gameplay.

7- Mages are really crap in 2v2. They can do "okay" if played very well but the amount of effort put in compared to other classes is really quite large. The statistics for 2v2 arena ladder proves this.

Nice to see that you guys want to improve the game. Good luck, you'll need it.

Hello, im Dukle , a player who playing this game 100% for PvP , as a player who have both gladiator (top6) and rank12 (General) I'm feeling that I know this game enough to give structure feedback without trying to suggest something OP, I simple want as much class-balance as possible.

Enough with the introduction, I going to spend a lot time on this post, so I just wanna make sure that it does not going ignored.

* List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.
Viable PvP talents as I see it is the famous 17/0/44 and my current spec 0/5/56

I wanna talk about this: The reason people spec'ing 17 points to arcane is to get improved counterspell - of course. And I feel that counterspell needs to have silence as base, since mage is probably the worst 2v2 class atm. I going to come back to this point later, before I continue I wanna say fire is viable as it is, its to difficult to give some classes more viable pvp spec, resilience killed fire, so be it, frost got the burst that fire lacked either way, so frost going to be the nr1 pvp spec and im accepting it.

i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...
World PvP (do something about it!!!, premade vs premade battleground *hint * rated bgs */hint* :) and of course arena, I tryed to PvE and I liked it, but im a PvP player and I love the aspect of the war in warcraft. I would also like to add, that probably 80% of pvp players hate that everyone looks the same, that was the reason that I went pvp on lvl 60, I wanted to look different, make it like before ; alliance/horde pvp looks are different and different again from the pve set, unique set in battlegrounds creates a feeling off being .. well.. unique, so I really hope that you guys will address this. Since its important for the PvP player-base. There - I said it, lets continue with mage problems.

* Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

Dispell: Dispell is to powerfull against mages, make a way that f.eks mage have a talent who have maybe 30% to resist purge/dispell (improved frost armor talent) Take combustion in fire, 3 critt and dispelled by healer before you getting one in to many cases.

Pusback : I actually consider to use two sets of tier4 aldor on frostbolt, a mage under fire are not able to cast hence the "myth" that mages are lolspammng icelance, mage need to cast frostbolts without interruption. (70%) Thats why frostmages sometimes depends on the pet for steady damage, but lately, our pet getting two-shotted, so also add that stanima/resiliance scale like 50% of the masters. To continue this pushback issue it could be great if after you blink, the target loses as a player and blink now removes snares, shadowstep rogues are now the official mage killers, so something close to that would improve mage in 2v2/3v3.

Our mana is still a problem during mana-drain teams, managem helps, evocation getting interrupted, (consider to make evocation tick without ANY interuption regardless of dots and damage) we need something to either remove mana or remove/get mana back spell.
Anyway, Im forced to use rank 1 frost nova, rank 1 cone of cold ( the mana /dmg different aint wort it , maybe boost up the dmg slightly and reduce the manacost with talent a lot ) also using r1 polly, but that would be expected. :)

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

- Counterspell : With resiliance/anti-critt and lower-silence healers against mages and 2v2 is to powerful, maybe give counterspell a silence as base (1-2 sec), and lower it cooldown to 15 sec (Yes, this is a radical one, but I think its needed) But then we have the problem against casters(maybe to good in 5v5?) We need to lockout healers more, and that brings me to spell nr2 that are maybe more viable :

- Healingdebuff/icelance : As mention above, healing against mages are to powerful, another option - I can see for myself a kind of -healing debuff , maybe winterchill can have -5% per debuff = 25% - healing and it would not stack with other - heal% debuff, thats maybe a better one or a twist of both. As mentioned at the start ; a talent (frost warding) with 30% - to remove your buffs from you/others as well as winterchill would have maybe 20-30% (maybe 30% is to much, not sure) to get removed from the enemy, since then the icelance would have a effect and not dispelled all the time

- Spell steal : Man, this spell got potential, BUT, why the manacost? Spell steal already fails to steal anything, it is really that bad, lower the mana-cost dramatical, since mages still have manaproblems in long pvp fights, more then other classes , make it a priorbuff since in 2v2 I spellstealed druid focus buff ( -% dmg when critt) wather-breating and other useless thing when tried to spell steal intervate, I know spell steal can be powerfull, and therefore the large manacast, but right now its useless since PvP mages still got mana problems since the fights are getting longer and more and more teams have mana drainers in them. Maybe rework it , give it a cooldown? make it still mana/hp instead or/with buff?

- Invisibility .. Well, I liked it in PvE, but the difference between lock and mage is that mage needs time (evocate/ invisibility) while a lock can go on and on, but its fine for PvE, lets go back to PvP:

I would actually like as it was in beta, or something close to that, its a whole another game since beta, and resilience fixed our potential burst pom/pyro and in arena a healer would heal it up either way. Change it drastically, make it that mage can eat/drink inside it, give it a shorter cooldown and make it almost like in beta, and maybe slightly nerf the warlock buff since they can see us from like 60-70 yard away ++, make it that they can see us from 20 yard or close to that. Let us see other targets with it as well, make it a pvp spell but continue to let it fade aggro in pve.

- Icy Weins, I love this new talent, but it feels that we got more counter against warriors in group pvp (shadowstep rogues are another case, since that specc is a mage-killer =p )
I would actually consider to tweak it a little, mage is master of magic? Why not do something about it? I already mentioned -30% - dispell on us so we could actually keep the buff, maybe let it lower all mana cost with -5% increase armor by %%% amount and our spell-penetration by %%% amount, believe it or not, but especially in 2v2 and now in 3v3 mage are often the number 1 target despite of iceblock (dispelled) and blink, one of the reason is purge/dispell spam and as I also said earlier, when a mage are under fire, we are not able to cast anything. Another opinion is to make scorch under fire-tree to have a - healing opinion, that will at least make fire greatly in arena again.

- Continue with the "master of magic" and a nice suggestion with mana-shield;

Dampen magic/mana shield needs to be revorked in pvp, another opinion is that it letting our ++ spell pen up/ - % chance that people who have this buff will get dispelled by &&& % , maybe do something about that with mana shield ? Right now it sucks, A chance to % back dots on target, dramatically how much mana you loose/absorb, maybe have a chance to restore mana when using it hence to shamans water shield, since mage have lots of manaproblems maybe make mana shield a chance to restore a &&&% amount of mana, that will fix our manaproblem, in fact - I think this is a great idea.

I want to "add" to the last ( yes, nr6 but its short) change arcane fortitude and change impr. wand to restore %%mana, great suggestions are mentioned in this topic, read it. :)

To summon this up:

Is a thread with a lot of good suggestions. SOME of them are good.
- Im "happy" with mage damage in PvP and CC, with - pusback then our damage will be fine!
- Pushback needs to get a look on, spell/core-talent to have -% chance to get dispelled and your offensive spell with a - healing debuff and that a enemy caster have a chance to dispell it against itself , not to much of course since it can be op.
- Way to get back mana (see mana-shield suggestion)

main tree: Frost

what kind: Pvp and Pve

Changes:

The bonus resistance gained from Ice Armor ice more of an Useless spell, maybe it could change to *put number in here* Resilence Against Frost spells., or something like that you guys know what to do.

The Frostbolts casting time against ranged/melee fighters can be very strange sometimes (unless you dont have the sweet 2 set bonus from Kara) So maybe change the useless Frozen Core (I really mean it it's so useless) to some anti pushback % instead, it doesnt have to be much but just a little. with so many "buffs" there maybe need to change some stuff that is to good with frostmages, I dont know what to change (no not Ice lance cause that spell is our only chance we have to dmg you spell interrupters ;D)

sustained dps in boss encounters is our main issue
due to the mechanichs of the encounters (moving often) and to the fact our spells do not get any cross-class buff (essentially lock+Sp i really better for raiding dps)

lack of raid utilities
we provide food int sometimes amplify magic and the scorch debuff... stop! one mage is enough for all this^^ so if raising our damage is not an option maybe giving us more raid utility tools would be a great thing

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

fire talents are quite good since they are almost all about dealing more dps the problem is that it's not enough to beat locks/sp

Itemization
spellfire and spellstrike sets are one of the bests sets for TOO long our sets need
spell hit (enough to cap it or reach 164 at least)
spell damage (a LOT)
spell crit (a lot)
stamina
int

spirit is COMPLETELY useless now i mean really completely it's better raising the crit for elemental mastery mana gain than raising spirit!!!

playing with fire
i don't see the point of getting more damage because of a talent.. (and still do less dps than a lock^^) maybe giving it a 6% more damage at least

Primary Talent Tree : Full Frost

Primarily pursuing PVP, arena and BGs

What i feel mainly needs to be improved about mages is allowing us a way to actually cast some spells in pvp. In an arena, a pet alone is enough to stop you from casting a frostbolt.
Other than that the first 3 tiers of arcane needs a workover. There should be an added synergy with the other talents or simply given a reason to spec arcane, which I do not feel there is for me before you get to improved counterspell. After that the tree is pretty good, but the way down is not equivelant to the other trees.

Q u o t e:
List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

Fire/Frost AKA. Elementalist

Q u o t e:
List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

PvP in all its forms, though less so arena

Q u o t e:
Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

1) Arena. Elementalist used to be one of the best PvP specs for mages, but currently, there's simply no room for Elementalists in high end arena. Trainable Ice Block will help (making 0-41-20 possible), but I don't think that alone will make it a compareable option for full frost.

2) Healers. Mainly resto druids and holy priests Simply lacking the tools to take them down

3) Synergy. This is kinda the issue that I believe could be used to solve the above two or at least help solving them. The original mage patch over a year ago aimed into making Elementalist spec a viable spec directed towards PvP by creating synergies between fire and frost talents. In TBC, there really didn't come much more such things and I believe changing the talents of the trees a little to grant bonuses when coupled with those of the secondary tree would great benefit the combination.

Q u o t e:
List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Spellsteal - Far too high manacost for a spell that is as likely to give you rank1 Thorns as something actually useful.

Blink - The manacost is in my opinion way too high for something as vitally life-saving as blink is.

Invisibility - It's so very situational at the moment. 5 secs of fade is a long long time and in the end you can't even see anyone. I think it needs a change into one way or another.

Pyroblast - Well, as much as Arc/Fire mages will hate me for saying this, but I really think Pyro is a bad spell. 6 sec cast time makes it very useless for PvP unless you first spec 21+ Arcane. I wouldn't have it if it weren't required for Blast Wave. It either needs a tweak or it needs to be removed from Blast Wave req so that I can place that single precious point into something I want more (Elementalists never have enough points to go around)

Playing With Fire - Useless really

Q u o t e:
why can birds do fly walk fly walk fly walk, but fish cna't do swim walk swim walk swim walk in pvp??

1. Fire

--------------

2. Raiding

--------------

3.1 Since we have spirit on our tier gear id love to see some kind of ability/low tier talent/ class talent or whatever that can convert spirit to something more useful, such as added critt per point or damage. Not many people specc into arcane meditation and after the evocation change spirit is kindof useless.

3.2 Damage - it's decent after the coefficient tax removal but i still feel it could be better, afterall we are the 'primary ranged dmg dealer'

3.3 Mana - Either more intellect on our gear or configure our talent tree to somehow make arcane mind available on a lower tier with perhaps less than 5/5 points needed, hopefully without forcing us to sacrifice dmg talents.

--------------

4.1 Id love to see some kind of improvement to any type of ranged AoE spell. Blizzard, flamestrike, whatever. AE spam is quiet mana intense and forces us to go close combat.

4.2 Invisibility. It's a great aggro dump however it's quiet hard to use at moments where you take damage and really would badly need a aggro dump (Reliquary of Souls, Gurtogg Bloodboil, constant dot's make it hard to use when its thte most needed.) Basically it would be awesome to make it instant, although i guess that might be a bit OP in PvP. Perhaps lower fade time? Or instant with shorter duration?

4.3 Am slightly tired now, so ill add more later :-)

1. Arcane
2. Raiding and heroics
3. I guess you can argue the DPS compared to other classes is relativley low. Also the survivability and PvP viability in the fire and arcane trees (fire in particular) are sort of low, it would be nice to see fire as a serious PvP option. In addition i am personally confused about the spirit stat, since it is needed for very few abilities but needed nonthess, it would be nice if it was more apparent whether or not mages are gonna stack up spirit.
4.
1) Spellsteal, a spell with very high potential, but it's too limited to be used apart from the obvious occasions. the mana and global cooldown are not worth a random buff out of way too many.

2) Wand specialisation, wands are such a small fragment of DPS that the talent is useless

17/0/44 for PvP and 10/48/3 or 10/0/51 for PvE

PvE raids and Arena PvP

Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

Our damage done in high end instances - buff in last patch was good but not egnogh - we still cant outdamage other DPS classes

Specific class role in high end PvE is missing- we have no AOE damage like warlocks (YA REALY they have better AOE damage) we have no best single target damage like rogues or something mixed like hunters - they can do good damage on AOE (point MH trash) and good single target damage - not the best but good egnogh. Our AOE - Blastwave has 30 sec CD Dragon breath is a joke flamestrike is unspamable - improuved blizzard is good but when fire is best damage tree imp blizzard is unusable - we need clearcast we need alot of points in fire. Deep frost is good but this build will never outdamage hybrid or pure damage class. Our item sets are joke - for example - tr5 warlock pants are better in all the stats than mage's tr5

List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Dragon breath - PvP spell wich can be reached only in pure PvE builds Spell wich increase damage done will be good (like new mage armor with mana regen spell dmg crit/hit or something like that - dunno exactly)

Wand specialisation - will be nice to be replaced with spell wich increase arcane spell's range by 3/6 yard - or this talent can give both of this - will be not overpowered.

Usable Pyroblast in PvE

Please give chance to fire mages to restore their mana by lowering their dps - like hunter's regenerating mana aspekt like lifetap etc - If mage goes OOM with gem and potion on CD he is raid usless

Maybe rework combustion - with high end PvE gear and lots of crit chance this spell isnt so usefull

In next patch mage will recive 500% extra damage from falling to save its reputation of glass canon

1. deep Fire

2. Raiding

---------------

3.1 Make spirit usefull or remove it from gear.

3.2 Raiddps is to low

---------------

4.1 mage 4 t6 set bonus compared to warlock 4 t6 set bonus. WTF? why? It seems destro warlocks get a better version of everything mages get

4.2 make invisibility instant or very short casttime

4.3 buff AB so it is usefull (right now useless without 2 t5 bonus)

4.4 remove polymorph healing component (at least in pvp)

4.5 buff arcane fortitude so it aint utterly useless.

Primary talent tree: Fire
Focus: PvP, solo PvE

Issues:

1. The unability to burst people down in PvP, which causes a lack of survivability in arcane and fire mage PvP.

2. The unability to use long casts in PvP, which causes mana ineffinency in fire mage PvP due to increased use of instants and instant AoEs, which eat even more mana.

3. The poor scaling of AoE spells versus single or two targets. When they play a major part in fire mage PvP due to the Issue number 2, it causes many of my PvP moves to scale horribly with my gear.

*I do understand that AoE spells scale poorly because you cant have your best damage versus 10 enemies at once, that's why damage caps were added, but AoE spells should scale better against few enemies. That would be justified by their high mana cost.*

The 5 things that need to change.

1. Amplify and Dampen magic (Spell)

Amplify magic is useless unless you know you are going to fight physical only enemies in a group with healer. That doesn't happen often.
Dampen Magic is only useful when you solo play or PuG BG. Both need a major improvement in their utility. I haven't even bought my higher rank amplify magics, and never needed to.

2. Flamestrike (Spell)

Needs the DoT effect changed, currently it doesn't stick to the target, which rather effectively reduces flamestrikes damage to half if the target is moving. High mana cost, poor damage, and hard to aim. I bought the higher ranks of this spell, but never cast one.

3. Improved Fire Ward (Talent)

This is third only due to pure unjust. Frost warding is easier to get, and provides additional effects with the reflect change. Now that fire has an armor spell too, this talent should be changed to "Fire Warding" and made to alter Molten Armor. This would also make Molten Armor bit more on par with Ice Armor with Frostbite talent, fixing two problems at once.

4. Arcane Talents (Namely the: Arcane Fortitude, Wand Specialization, Magic Absorbtion)

Currently they only mock mage community. Arcane Fortitude could affect resilience with different %-scaling, remove wand specialization - mages die when they run out of mana in PvP, in PvE you should not run out of mana anyways, and magic absorbtion should scale with level.

5. Mana shield (spell) Improved Mana shield (talent)

The mana shield simply uses too much mana to absorb damage, and doesn't absorb enough damage even then. My suggestion is to increase the initial cast cost, reduce the mana per damage absorbed ratio, and make the talent increase the overall damage one shield can absorb. This would also help with fire and arcane survivability.
