We're currently gathering class feedback from players for Wrath of the Lich King concerning thoughts on the areas of each class that is perceived to be most in need of improvement. This thread is not intended for discussion purposes and we ask that you please review the below format before presenting your feedback. It's very important for us to be able to review all provided feedback and as a result, not following the required format will very likely result in your post being removed.
  • List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

  • List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

  • Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

  • List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Please remember to be constructive when providing feedback, and avoid discussions with others so that this thread can remain a promising and reliable source for feedback. It's also important to note that we're not looking for suggestions on how aspects of your class can be improved, but rather which areas are in need of improvement by your own assessment. When we have collected enough feedback we will reply back to this thread thanking everyone for their assistance, and the thread will be locked. Thank you very much for your participation!

(*)Combat/Subtlety mainly. (4/33/24 atm because I lack the gear to dump Malice.)

(*)I enjoy PvP the most, because I don't have time to raid and getting a group for 5mans is a pain (Yes, getting 4 other people on Horde side Turalyon when you aren't in a PvE guild is IMPOSSIBLE.)

(*)Mobility, as it has been said thousand of times before. Yea, I can catch up to my enemies.. if I use my cooldowns. But chainfights tend to happen, and they're cooldowned then.
Like some guy has in his signature: "I can sprint every 5 minutes.. a fat kid irl can do that more often." - which is sadly true.
Can't really complain about my damage. If it's lacking, it'll most likely be due to the fact I'm undergeared.

(*)-Envenom needs to be able to used with Wound Poison, this will be a huge thing for PvP/arena. (Thanks Gurf for reminding me :))

-Vile Poisons and Improved Poisons need to get merged, because spending 10 points to get our poisons to work properly is a bit too much. Can't spare the talent points either to pick up both in the traditional 41/20 builds.

-Deadenes Nerves: 5% to melee is close to nothing.. something has to change there.

-Mutilate: This needs something 'extra', it's still a nice attack, and I'd love to spec it. But the advantages of swords/maces is just too much to miss out, unfortunately at the cost of fun.

Using combat/sub (pvp). Aiming for pvp ofc, so i'd like to see afk in bg problem fixed. Vanish (gm once said, what it's not supposed to be used as escape skill :D ), bugs out at worst times. Stealth too, got 5/5 mod, am a nelf and stealth lvl increased, but yesterday mage saw me from like 25y away. Evi broken as hell too. Our dps should be improved too (not talking about full epicd dudes), as we're supposed to be the best dps'ers in the game, but seing as a warrior with same gear easily out-dps us, it sucks. All i remember atm :) oh, and buffing hemo so more ppl would use it, and then nerf it 1patch l8r is a BAD BAD idea. It's good as it is now.

Talent spec : Combat Swords

Focus : PVE raiding

Personally, i feel the HIT rating cap is far too high to max out without gimping other stats, i know mine atm is not the greatest - but as a pure DPS class we need are more 'refined' approach at our stat build up.

I feel that Vitality is a joke at adding 2% agi and 4% Sta - witout it there would be not much of a difference.
Evi, personally i never use it becaue its damage is poor, it should have some kind of armour % it ignores with each lvl of it you use
Envenom should be useable with any stacked poison
Give Ghostly strike some kind of usefull bonus..
oh and fix fanish..

i am using the assassination tree 41/20/0 to be precise

i mostly enjoy PVP but i do a fair share of raiding

there are 3 things in this built that needs working:

-poisons: especially when mutilate is used as main talent poisons are very important to us.... however we need 12 talents if im right yes.... just to make those poisons work... people go over to specs like 54/0/7 just to make those poisons work. make it less points merge it together... make it stronger somewhat could help

-survivability: from all trees this one has the lowest capability of using cooldowns like evasion twice or more often and hasn't got anything like adrenaline rush to litteraly avoid any damage nuking your enemie down.

-positioning: being a dagger spec it costs quite a share of effort to get behind your target... making this talent tree less wanted than sword/mace/fist specs.

talents that need change

- all poison talents, they are too much to make 1 thing work... : poisons... make it cost less points same work out... its one of our core abilities (vile poisons, master poisoner, deadly poisons)

- the 2 talents that improve finnishers (eviscerate doesn't scale with gear at lvl 70... the talent might fix this... same goes for expose armor... its just not enough to make it work optimal.

- deadened nerves......5 points for 5% reduced damage against rogues warriors and hunters is lackluster... it costs too much... could be changed somewhat to: reduce damage taken by targets affected by rogues poison by 3/6/9/12/15% or something like that.... maybe even just 2/4/6/8/10% but something that would make this talent work would help this spec gaining the survivability the other specs get through cooldowns.

- coldblood: its a critical hit on demand... however what is a critical hit? 180% damage? after resilience reduction? it is not as good as it once was... no longer the core ability of the spec.... could have some work scaling with resilience.

- remorseless attacks: the idea behind it is great... but it proves less valuable than on paper: you need killingblow... limited time to launch next move..... could be changed to somwhat after landing a killingblow increases your critical strike chance to 20% to 40% untill used... makes it worth it quite a bunch more... and having the dieing person/mob as your target and having dealth damage to it should be enough to proc it. really not overpowered.... some perfect assassination skill

* List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

Combat/assassination 20/41 combat swords.

* List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

I'm a raider by heart, can't take the stress of pvp for very long even though I do enjoy a good brawl every now and then. Sadly I can't be as active as i want and will probably not see Mh/BT.

* Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

Mobility and security.
We can if we're cought of guard or are lacking our cool downs, easily be kited by several classes. This is without us managing to land a single blow on the opponent. This is extremly taunting to the player, especially if there's also a tiny bit of lagg involved.
We also see our abilities fail more and more often. Resisted Cheap shots/kidey shots, faild vanishes, Kicks that do not interupt, CloS that got 50% res chance rather then 90%... I can understand the reason but it's frustrating since in most fights for a rogue it's about precision and a single failiur often means death.

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Vanish: Still got a 80% fail chance due to lagg/ability mechanics. Give it a 0.5 sec invulnerbility buff or lower the cooldown to 2/3 minutes since it's mostly a snare breaker at the moment.

Vitalty: Way to low percentage. Two talentpoints for a single didgit buff to my agillity is not that fancy.

Blade twisting: Not worth the two talent points since Shiv + Crippling poison is guaranteed way to slow down a person and thereby prefered.

Envenom: As stated, make it work with woundpoisons to make this ability avalible in pvp.

Exposed armor: Seldom used in PvE since it dosen't stack with sunders. Make it a selfbuff for the rogue or a group buff (like battle shout) thus sharpening the now dulling edge of the rogues and giving them some group utility.

Talents: 11/21/29 - hemo-hybrid

Content: Mostly solo at the moment with occasional PvP (BG's) and Raids (upto about SSC)

Imrpovements:
1) Old dagger abilities like Ambush and Backstab are very crit reliant, and could use a buff to ignore some resillience. Mind you, that only applies to these specific abilities since they're most crit-reliant.
2) Deeper Subtlety, at 30+ talent points could use a sustained DPS increase. Be it a talent that improves hemo one way or another, or buffing Sinister Calling to 30%. 30+ Subtlety talents are basically no competition to the must-have talents Relentless Strikes and Dual Wield, but taking Relentless Strikes and Dual Wield also means you can't progress deeper into the tree. With a new lvl cap of 80, that would be possible though, but it's doubtfull even a tri-spec can still compete with any full spec then.

Spell/Ability/Talent improvements:
Sinister Calling (see above)
Backstab
Ambush
Fist Weapon Specialization
Expose Armor

1) 41/20 Mutilate/DW spec.

2) I am primarily a PvP player.

3) Mobility. Rogues rely on constant pressure caused by high melee damage and melee stuns/interrupts. Any lull in this pressure due to being kited, will allow the target to gain yet more range and casting/channeling freedom, which a kited rogue is near powerless to overcome more than once.
Kiting moves (fear, sheep, freeze effect) are spammable, our cooldowns are not.

4) a) Sprint. As soon as it's used, any competent player will apply a cc effect, completely negating it. Once sprint has been negated this way it is unuseable due to the prohibitive cooldown. Plus, for it be of any real worth, improved sprint must be specced.

b) Vanish. The bug that causes it to fail, or randomly fade needs fixing.

c) Stealth. This is too easy to penetrate or negate with AoE's. Also for a class that desperately needs more mobility the reduced movement speed is too harsh.

d) Crit based attacks (Backstab, Ambush). These require many talent points to even become viable and are becoming utterly nullified by both resilience and the extreme amount of stamina available to even the (supposedly) soft classes.

- Arena PvP (soon (TM))

* Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).
- Issues or bugs with Vanish. This was much less occuring in vanilla wow(destealth instantly).
- Dagger usage is not quite what it should be in PvP. Other specs are better, the original idea of daggers was to be burst like and cool in PvP :)?

* List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)
-Deadened nerves, to little diffrence for five points, change it into something else. I feel like this talent is benefiting rogues in the wrong area.
-Fist weapon specialization, With the new resilience this talent could work to revert both the crit you lose and also the crit damage you drop. Make it increase your crit damage with 5% in addition.
-Ambush is basicly replaced in PvP. The silence-garrote or the stun from cheapshot is a better opener in most cases.
-Setup could have a side effect to increase the spell resistance chanse with 1/2/3% to make it more attractive.
-Blade Twisting could work with hemorrhage aswell. No idea why it isnt the case.

-Vanish. Maybe give it a 0.5sec immune to all attacks buff. This would help alot against lag issues it now has in pvp.
-Eviscrate. Make it scale better with gear.

*Primary Talent Tree:
Subtlety (20/0/41 shadowstep build)

*Preferred content:
More "casual" raids, read, 10 mans; long "epic" quest chains (eg.: benediction, warlock epic mount quest, etc.)

*Areas with the most need for improvement:

PvP, mostly. I think we're fine in PvE atm.
- Mobility: with most classes having incredibly effective means of cc, rogues are kited around too easily. Once we're out of stealth and away from our target, we're mostly sitting ducks (get caught in a chain of fears/LOLcoils and you see how much it hurts)
- Survivability: at this point, we're more of a glass cannon than even the mage class. Even some cloths arena sets have more armor than the leather ones.
- Fun: no one wants to spec combat for PvP and spam sinister strike. It's boring. The hemo/shadowstep buffs were definitely a step in the right direction. Also, daggers > everything else in terms of fun playing the class.

* Abilities that need changes:
1. Hemo - needs to be left as it is, and not nerfed into oblivion again.
2. Ambush/Backstab - dagger attacks need to be reviewed somehow. In the current game of 400+ resilience, they're useless.
3. Eviscerate - needs to scale better with gear. Mostly useless for PvP and PvE
4. Envenom - needs to use Wound poison as well, as mentioned before. Useless for PvP.
5. Cold Blood - as it is, useless. One crit every 5m with the resilience damage reduction will not be of much use in PvP. In PvE, it's useless - it won't make any difference in 5m+ boss fights.

Oh, and by the way, do fix vanish, please. I 'm not even including it in the list as it is so mind numbingly obvious that it plain doesn't work that is almost painful.

Talents: 24/13/24

Primary Content: PvP, Soloing (grinding for my other chars mostly)

Areas for Improvement:
1) as mentioned already; mobility. Perhaps nerf the length of sprint but make us immune to snares for the duration.
2) resilience is a HORRIBLE stat for rogues. Eviscerate has needed a buff for a long time, but even moreso since the iclusion of resilience.
3) FIX VANISH

Abilities to improve:
1) vanish!
2) eviscerate scaling.
3) i like hemmo as it is right now, leave it alone.
4) the sprint thing i mentioned above would be very nice.
5) er, nerfmages?!

What i lack in effort i make up for in ability.

List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

Sublety, Assasination

List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

PvP at Battlegrounds and Arena actively.

Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement

Mobility: Rogues have problems at very easily being Kited. You need many of your cooldowns against i.e. Frost mages and Hunters, and your slowing poison is easily removed. Also lag, that is very hardly unavoidable, causes problems when being kited, and I feel it affects Rogues the most.

Lack of damage on Dagger specs: Most dagger specs are destroyed by Resilience stat, since it relies on heavy crits and has minimal to no suistained damage, depending on variation of the Dagger Spec.

Lack of variety of Poisons.: There are only few poisons that are actively used in PvP. Those are Crippling, Wound and Mind-Numbing poisons. I feel that we need some kind of new poisons for PvP.

List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention.

Eviscerate scaling: Damage is very much off the tooltip, and very useless, i.e. a 4-5 point Eviscerate has hit 400 on a Mage without any shields/barriers on, which in my opinion, is considered very low for a 5 point Finishing Move.

Sprint: The Duration and cooldown are too long, causing it to go to waste after re-snared etc. I.e. Mage's Frost nova or even Ice Armour's Chilled effect.

Envenom: Due to the fact that this ability can only be used in conjuction with Deadly Poison, it is rarely used, since Deadly Poison has the risk of breaking abilties breaking on damage, i.e. Gouge, Blind, discouraging using Deadly Poison and by that, Envenom in PvP.

Kick: Using this ability to interrupt casting, i.e. a Paladin chain-casting Flash of Light, can too easily be timed incorrectly, due to lag and the ability being on Global Cooldown.

Shadowstep: The location of this ability is too deep in the Talent Tree, Sublety, considering its useability, since even small lag can render it sometimes useless.

Currently speccd 31/30 mace/hemo (it rocks)

I am solely pursuing pvp now after I changed job, so raiding is impossible for me.

MOBILITY - with the DT nerf and the ridiculous cooldowns on all abilities, once someone has distance on you (and lets face it, every class can do this that needs to) and you've used CloS, you're screwed.

In Combat (Crowd) Control - every other dps class with a 10s CC has it with no CD and its spammable, we have blind on a 3m CD. wtf? Really, i'd just like to see you add 18s cooldowns to all other CC like Poly, Fear, Cyclone in PvP, same CD as our KS

Cooldowns - All rogue CD are waay too long, we need CD to win against any class, this effectively makes us a 3-5m class, which is lame.

Talents that need improving are

Deadly Throw - make it back the way it was. This solves any mobility issues.

Vanish - make it work please. How about a 1second immunity to all and it clears all debuffs etc when you use it. And reduce CD to 3m standard, 2m with talents.

Sprint - 5min cooldown? lol. Reduce the duration to 5s, make Imp Sprint give you immunity to all roots and stuns for the duration and reduce the CD to 3m (infact reduce all rogue CD that are 5m to 3m)

Shadowstep - the idea of this talent is great, but the execution sucks, give it to all rogues, make the CD 20s or so, and basically make it like Blink. Also make it stun the opponent for 1second as you use it, if you keep it as it is, basically like vanish, make it work.

I wouldnt expect all these talents to be implemented, bcoz then rogues would be obvioulsy OP, but 1 or 2 would solve mobility/control issues. If you're not next to your opponent, you're dead. And these days every class has too many ways to get distance if they need to.

thanks

Let it have influence in the world, for instance easier/faster travel or a PvE reason (e.g. Emerald Dream)

Gnomeregan. I really dislike this place, but nevertheless I think gnomes deserve their city back, logically nothing prevents them from getting it back.

  • Scarlet Monestary. Ashbringer?. I really hope we get some level 70-80 content in here which might include some lore about the Scarlet Crusade and Naxxramas(WoTLK)

  • List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

Mutilate A lot of the craftables in this game requires Primals, and with this build I'm unable to get them as easy as with any other build because elementals are immune to poisons. Give us 50% extra damage to elementals with Mutilate, if you don't want to fix the poison issue?

I try to do a bit of both PVP and PVE.

3-
Mobility is one of the biggest problems. We get kited around like nothing else. Give Shadowstep to all rogues and this will help solve the problem.
Armor. we have less armor then some cloth sets and we use leather... just doesn't seem right to me.

4-
Stealth and Vanish = broken. A druid has a higher stealth level then us... and vanish... meh we all know it just doesnt work
Hemo needs to be left as it is in my opinion. it provided us nice DPS and a fun spec for arenas and battlegrounds
Reduce the length of our cooldowns lets face it. A rogue needs its cooldowns to beat pretty much anything atm. 5 - 3 min wait till you can beat the next opponent.
Eviscerate needs to scale as the gear quality increases.
Wound poison working with envenom would make this skill actually useful in pvp.

. Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement
-Mobility: We are the single class in game that cant change target and get to it instantly apart from Shadowstep. Our Sprint duration is easy to negate/cc and once every 5 minutes.

-Survival: We used to be GlassCannons, we still are. We are focused the moment we come out, CCed and killed down. Vanish needs to be reverted what it used to be 1,5-2 years ago, it used to work then.

-General CC abilities: So much CC is introduced that it feels irritating. So many fears, traps, snares, polymorphs go around that i sometimes just lean back and watch...

. List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change

- Assassination Tree : 12 points to get Poisons working is too costly. Deadened nerves is meaningless, replacing it with a +dmg passive would be nice.

- DT : make it the way it was and even give it 80% chance to reapply ; If any class is able to get out of snare instantly (Druid) i should have a chance to apply my snare again and again.

- Eviscerate : Scaling is so weak, it doesn't count as a finisher anymore.

- Vitality benefit is too low

  • List your primary talent tree(s), i.e. Holy/Disc.

  • Ye old cookie-cutter (15/41/5)

  • List the content you're primarily pursuing or most enjoy, i.e. Raiding, PvP, Solo, etc...

  • Pure raiding (MH/BT) with a lil Bg on the side when I feel like it

  • Provide a brief description of the areas you feel are most in need of improvement (you may list a maximum of three issues and each issue should be described in one or two sentences).

  • Keeping a decent +hit = you have to gimp most other stats or the other way around, imo the +hit nerf from t4 to t5 is just a joke, t5 is supposed to be better and the total +hit nerf alone from full t4 to t5 is -57 to hit (3.6%), and the 3% longer SnD time set bonus on t4 is also better than imp evis/envenom dmg in t5 (not that it affects me now being in MH/BT, but it did before)

Buff the PVE daggers, as it is now I'm bidding dkp on swords/maces to get some weapons that justify me respeccin hemo, due to daggers being inferior, not to mention Resilience relying on hvy crits

Personal Combo-Points, if you're on a roll you can dish out dmg to anyone and not just a specific target

  • List up to five specific spells/abilities/talents you feel most need change, redesign or improvement in the order you feel each is most in need of attention. (MOST to LESS)

  • Evis, been gimped since TBC (ok.. close to.. wasn't that bad in the early days of TBC with 3500crits in green gear) needs to scale with the lvl/quality of your weapons, as it is now I'd rather pop a rupture if SnD is up

Evenom, make it work with wounding poison would make it a viable finisher in pvp since evis is a joke

Vanish, as already suggested, give us some form of invulnerability for 1-2 secs after used, as it is now in a BG/Arena, "Vanish" and the mage/pally/whatever uses an instant aoe and boom.. we're dead, if not invulnerability then make it work somewhat like clos that all attacks has less chance to hit

Blade Twisting, once again, already mentioned, shiv+crippling poison = far more effective, personally I'd rather see it as something similar to the warrior rend (ok.. we have rupture, but that does require combo-points)

Backstab/Improved Backstab, the crit chance is fine... but the energy need is too great when you have to keep SnD up at all times to actually keep a high dps going, so in addition to the crit-chance lessen energy cost with 3,6,10

Raid utility.
Atm we are DPS and thats it. Im not saying I dont like kicking ass and taking names but when compared to other classes at our current progession in the game (dont know about BT and hyjahl)
warlocks and mages are getting closer and closer to us on the DPS meter.
We deserve some kind of utility for endgame.
Maybe stack expose armor with sunder or something.. i dunno.. :)

Vanish is borked. dont think I need to elaborate on that one much.
