We're pleased to announce that along with the other companies that make up Vivendi Games, we are merging with Activision to form a new global entertainment organization called Activision Blizzard (pending shareholder and regulatory approval). Similar to our previous arrangement, Blizzard Entertainment will now operate as a division of this new organization.

There will be no changes to our games, our websites, our personnel, or our day-to-day operations as a result of the deal. However, this combining of resources will benefit all of the companies involved and will further strengthen Blizzard's ability to continue delivering high-quality content for our players around the world for many years to come. To learn more about this exciting new development, please read our Activision Blizzard FAQ.

What does this mean for us? Ah, link added :) I'm still a bit confused, you say nothing will be changed in terms of Logo, games etc. So do you just borrow their computers/servers/personnel now?

It could result to faster, better and bigger contents.

But as said in the first post, it will mostly affect internal stuff.

Service with a smile :-)

Arenas:
I'm going Schwff 'Round the corner. 'Round the corner.

Fact: BM is not an arena spec. It's like claiming that frostmage just AP + PoM + Pyro'd you then proceeded to Iceblocking.

Not pleased.

Dislike most games from Activision. Maybe it could change activision to the better, but theres no way its gonna change Blizzard to be any better.

Well from the US FAQ this just seem to be a major sack of cash in the hands of Activision, so i'm guessing it's to help out Activision which have been in financial problems lately.

So it has no effect on anything Blizzard, atleast not for now.

Game company mergers haven't had the best track record....
However in this case vevendi (who own blizzard) are Buying activision for $1.7 Billion. So I think we should see this as a takeover not a merger meaning hopefully Blizzard get to pull the strings. This move will create the biggest computer game company (yes bigger than EA)

Activison have had a good track record for producing games, but not for necessarily good customer support.

Article regarding on new york times:
http://www.nytimes.com/2007/12/03/technology/03activision.html?em&ex=1196744400&en=bb1fbffb03160c20&ei=5087%0A

I am not sure that mergers between games companies historical have been that successful. In many cases it has lead to worse suport for players. (Star wars galaxies anyone?) Having said that I hope that this one works out.

It's all for personal use officer.

I really, really, really hope it stay's that way as Ordinn has said, I would cry if Activison would suddenly intermangle with Blizzard's products or affect the logo, or anything else.

I dunno... I was a bit shocked when I read this, but after I read the FAQ I was being more calm...but still....
