Q u o t e: The so called privet server is a software written by some ppl NOT blizzard, which simulates blizzard server, but its never as good as original. Anyway what i'm getting to is that its not a piracy in that its not a stolen blizzard server. It is true however that blizzard licenses us the client and they don't agree on using it for connecting to such private servers. At least thats how i understand it
The ugly undead speaks the truth ^^
The well known opensource projects for the so called private servers use their own techniques to simulate a WoW Server - this is not illegal by any means.
The client however runs under the licence of Blizzard Entertainment who do not allow connecting their client to such private servers.
This however still is not illegal in many countries (including Germany), but Blizzard Entertainment can of course take actions like suspending / deleting you account and give you a perma ban because you viloate the EULA you agreed to.
a private server can not in any way jeopardize your Blizzard WoW account. simple because blizzard can not proove that you own that server. and it has nothing todo with the real world of warcraft.
Besides that, a private server sucks donkeyballs bigtime, ive been on those servers and its nothing like the real game.

It's illegal to run those servers. People have got sued and forced to shut them down. You're reverese engineering a game to make a server for it, not run by the owner, of course that's illegal...

Hey yo hey yo. <-(new rapper style ho-ho-ho for todays Santas.)
I think he can do what he's doing making a private server for himself as long as others don't connect.
(As mentioned a few times before).
BUT, the existance of private servers is actually good for Blizzard.
Ppl download the cracked wow, connect, and try it out. They like it, but hate all the freakin bugs that make it hard to play the game. Than:
-They consider buying wow.
-They do buy wow.
-They pay blizz for what they wanted.

What he does is not legal, but he can't get caught if he lets no one else connect. There is a difference between those two :)
