These are the tailoring items that are most likely to sell on AH. It's not guaranteed, and there are probably some items I haven't listed that will sell better than some of these, but most of them are +int +spi and not often used, since you can get same from world drops.

Here are my top AH sellers:
Soft-Soled Linen Boots
Gray Woolen Robe
Enchanter's Cowl
Shadoweave Pants/Robe/Mask/Shoulders
Red Mageweave Pants/Gloves
Felcloth Pants/Hood

So at all times you should be buying Thick Spider's Silk and Shadow Silk that's cheaper than 15s each.

Brown Linen Robe http://www.thottbot.com/?i=482
First green item you can make, and nice to disenchant. Little reason to sell on AH, use it to level tailoring and disenchant to get strange dust and magic essences.

Bolt of Woolen Cloth http://www.thottbot.com/?i=1180
Used by two leatherworking patterns, and in a lvl 34 alliance quest.

Soft-Soled Linen Boots http://www.thottbot.com/?i=1215
Great caster stats(+2 int +2 stam) at this level. Highest price on older servers where people want to gear up alts quickly.

Pearl-Clasped Cloak http://www.thottbot.com/?i=1209
Great caster stats(+3 int). Small Lustrous Pearl is normally cheap since they drop everywhere.

Gray Woolen Robe http://www.thottbot.com/?i=8117
Great caster stats(4 stam 5 int). Pattern is a world drop from mobs around lvl 22 so check AH for this.

Bolt of Silk Cloth http://www.thottbot.com/?i=1182
Used in 3 leatherworking patterns, Dusky Belt is a really good LW belt so keeping Bolts in stacks of 2 on AH can pay off. Also, engineers need Dusky Belt for the Gnomish Harm Prevention Belt so that's another profession that might buy the bolts.

Spidersilk Boots http://www.thottbot.com/?i=38558
Mats are hard to get, but if you can find Spider's Silk and Iridescent Pearls cheap it's worth making the boots. Sells for most on older servers.

Bright Yellow Shirt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=6075
Only yellow shirt in the game, and it's a vendor bought alliance only recipe. Using this to level up tailoring is very nice, since you will most definitely sell the shirts with profit. Buying the recipe and putting it on Neutral AH can give you some extra gold too.

Robes of Arcana http://www.thottbot.com/?i=10477
Used in a lvl 31 warlock quest, you can make some gold with this if you manage to get the pattern. http://www.thottbot.com/?i=10050

Dark Silk Shirt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=3442
Another nice shirt to level up with, and also to sell.

Enchanter's Cowl http://www.thottbot.com/?i=38437
The first cloth head item with stats you can get are world drops at lvl 26. This is lvl 28 and has good stats(10 int 6 spi). How much you make depends on price of Thick Spider's Silk, but I have no problems selling 1-2 of these each day on AH for 1.6G each, when they cost me around 70s to make.

Green Silk Armor http://www.thottbot.com/?i=9494
Lvl 29 chest with 13 int, nice for all casters and also for battleground twinks. Don't know how much this sells for, but comments on thottbot mention 5G+. It's also a nice disenchant item for Soul Dust, although profit may vary depending on Soul Dust prices.

Azure Silk Belt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4137
Increases swim speed, nice if you want to catch up/get away from people in water, and also nice to have as Alliance when going to Onyxia.

Bolt of Mageweave http://www.thottbot.com/?i=3790
Used by engineering in Parachute cloak, stack of 4.

Spider Belt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5796
Removes existing Immobilizing effects and makes you immune to Immobilizing effects for 5 sec. Doesn't remove slowing effects though. Not so expensive mats, could probably make a little money with this by selling to pvpers or casters around lvl 31.

Green Holiday Shirt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=38513
Haven't tried to sell it personally, but it's one of the two green shirts in the game and it's a pretty rare pattern since it is only available around Christmas.

Star Belt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=11908
If you can make this, you should have it on AH at every time. +4 spirit and +13 dmg/healing makes it a good twink item.

Black Mageweave Gloves http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4297
Nice item to level with, and dmg/healing is good.

Red Mageweave Pants http://www.thottbot.com/?i=9453
12 int and 14 dmg/healing, excellent item.

White Bandit Mask http://www.thottbot.com/?i=5096
Best mid-game disenchanting item, you get alot of Vision Dust for it and it's only 50s to make each if you get Mageweave Cloth at vendor+50% price. It also looks good and has good stats for rogues/feral druids. If you can get this pattern from AH for less than 5G, do it.

Orange Martial Shirt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4547
Only shirt with black sleeves and it looks good. Doesn't cost much to make and according to thottbot you can make over 1G profit each.

Dreamweave Gloveshttp://www.thottbot.com/?i=4113
Dreamweave Vest http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2967
Dreamweave Circlet http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4289
Very nice items to sell. How much your profit is depends on how many others sell them(they are trainer recipies) and how much you buy Wildvine for.

Red Mageweave Gloves http://www.thottbot.com/?i=9024
10 int and 11 dmg/healing, good gloves for this lvl for people who can't afford Dreamweave Gloves.

Black Mageweave Boots http://www.thottbot.com/?i=3769
Used in gnomish and goblin Rocket Boots, you'll probably sell one of these once in a while.

Admiral's Hat http://www.thottbot.com/?i=12435
Pimp hat. I've sold it from 7-15G, and farmed Long Elegant Feathers myself in Azshara. Pattern is from the tailoring supplier in the Pirate Camp south of Booty Bay, and is on a 6 hour respawn timer.

Tuxedo Shirt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4924
Tuxedo Pants http://www.thottbot.com/?i=12076
Tuxedo Jacket http://www.thottbot.com/?i=8140
Impress others with your fashion sense. Would probably be very popular at an RP server.

Bolt of Runecloth http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4282
Put bolts on AH in stacks of 2. They are used 2 and 4 in different quests(dire maul, naxxramas, silithus) and also by leatherworking to make the ogre suit.

Runecloth Belt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4281
Best tailoring DE item in the game(atleast if dream dust costs more than 50s each). Make it, disenchant it and sell the Eternal Essences and Dream Dust you get. Most of the time I'll double my money(I buy runecloth for less than 1.3G each stack).

Cindercloth Cloak http://www.thottbot.com/?i=14118
Used to make Onyxia Scale Cloak, depending on prices for essence of fire you can be making some gold each day for this. Since most people are in TBC and skipping BWL I doubt this will make money any more though.

Runecloth Boots http://www.thottbot.com/?i=2921
Runecloth Robe http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4979
Brightcloth Pants http://www.thottbot.com/?i=18343
These are used by the Craftmans's Writs from Argent Dawn. Not sure if they sell well.

Mooncloth http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4279
You get the pattern from Qia in Everlook, Winterspring. http://www.thottbot.com/?i=13967
Mooncloth is one of the best things about tailoring. Most crafted epic cloth gear needs Mooncloth, and you can make 16 slot bags with it. It's also needed for the crafted 18 slot bag.
You should always keep Mooncloth on a cooldown(meaning after the 4 day cooldown is gone you get to a moonwell with 2 felcloth as soon as possible). Keep extra Felcloth in the bank if you can afford it. You don't want to lose out on profit because felcloth costed 1G each last time you made a mooncloth, and 3G each this time. Also, if you have alot of felcloth bought for 1-2G each, YOU can be the person selling them on AH for 3G each.
Selling mooncloth bags can be profitable, but since it's a pretty high AH deposit and it's not a guaranteed sale I would look at prices for mooncloth bag, mooncloth and Traveler's Backpacks before even making a mooncloth bag.. if mooncloth costs 10G each, a TB costs 16G and there are no mooncloth bags you can try advertising in trade channel before even making it. It's very annoying being stuck with a mooncloth bag because the prices of mooncloth varies so much, one day a mooncloth can be worth twice what you have to sell the bag for.

There are some moon wells around in the world you can use to transmute mooncloth with.
1. In Ashenvale west of Silverwing refuge. (60,71)
2. Outside of Dire Maul easy to sneak by guards.
3. In Moonglade.
4. In Silithus. (49,37) You can put hearthstone there, which will make it more available(especially for hordes).
5. In Auberdine, just northeast of Flight Master platform.
6. In the Park distric inside Stormwind. (Alliance only)
7. In the Moon temple in Darnassus, the pool with the Elven Godess is a moonwell. A portal to Darnassus will bring you here. (Alliance only)

Items with +dmg of a specific school, best way to sell these would probably be to directly whisper the people who have most use of them. Some sell well, some don't.. mostly depends on people knowing about the items. The items I easily sell with a nice profit is Shadoweave(pants and robe are best), have not tried the other types.

The trick to selling this type of gear is to whisper the people who can use it most. If you want to sell Shadoweave Pants you should whisper warlocks and priests between 36 and 40(/who warlock 36-40) and announce it in trade channel(because the lvl 37 warlock may be on his rich main right now) before putting it on AH.. Not making the item before you actually have a buyer is a nice way to avoid AH fees and a possible loss of deposits.

You can get Runed Stygian Patterns from AH or by delivering Encrypted Twilight Texts to Hermit Ortell(66,70 in Silithus) in the quest True Believers. He sends you a package that may contain a runed stygian pattern.

I made a spreadsheet to help with finding out if an item is worth to make and disenchant. With it you can easily write in the costs of mats from AH/vendor(I used vendor+50% as standard for AH mats) and how much you can earn by selling the disenchanting mats.

To find the disenchant chance of an item go to www.thottbot.com and look at Disenchants Into.. for example for Runecloth Belt http://www.thottbot.com/?i=4281 the DE chances are
Dream Dust 263.7%
Lesser Eternal Essence 33.7%
Small Brilliant Shard 2.6%

Then you just write in the percentages for each dust/essence/shard in the correct column and row.

Here is the .xls file. I had to zip it because the uploader doesn't allow .xls

Here's what I've gathered about tailoring specialization so far. You need 350 tailoring to specialize. Specializing will cause you to transmute two cloths every 96 hours, doubling your production of that specific cloth. So for cloth tailorers I would recommend specializing in the way which will give you the best 3 piece BoP set, and for non cloth tailorers Primal Mooncloth would probably be the best as the 20 slot bags will be more popular than the bags of the other two specializations. Spellfire Cloth can also be a good moneymaker, since the BoE Spellstrike gear is made from Spellcloth. Also remember that all cloths and all bags can be made my all tailorers, only the 3 piece set is restricted.

YOU NEED TO HAVE THE SPECIALIZATION TO USE 3 PIECE BOP SET OF THAT SPECIALIZATION!

Unlearning Specialization:
Talk to your specialization trainer, and choose "Unlearn x tailoring". This will cost you 150G. You will not lose any skill, and you will only lose the 3 specialization recipies.
Then you talk to the specialization trainer of the specialization you want to learn, and choose "Learn x tailoring". This will cost you 20G, and no quest needed.
You will not lose the ability to use old specialization gear, if you learn something else and then switch back to it. The stats might be bugged, but I solved that by removing all gear and then putting it back.

Shadoweave Specialization http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10833

To transmute the Shadowcloth you need to go to Altar of Shadows, which is at 58,70 in Shadowmoon Valley.

You get the pattern for Shadowcloth, Ebon Shadowbag(28 slot soul shard bag) and the 3 piece BoP set from the Shadoweave Specialist in Lower City, Shattrath.

This is the set that fits for Frost mages, shadow priests and warlocks. It has good int, stam and damage.

Frozen Shadoweave Shoulders http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21912
Frozen Shadoweave Boots http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21914
Frozen Shadoweave Vest http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21913

Total for the set is +66 sta, +44 int, +177 frost damage and +177 shadow damage. The 3 piece set bonus is "Your Frost and Shadow damage spells heal you for 2% of the damage they deal."

To make the set you need Primal Fire and Primal Shadow for the Shadowcloth, and Primal Water for the items. Here are some places you can farm the motes:
Mote of Fire http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22574 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4170
Mote of Shadow http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22577 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=7647
Mote of Water http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22578 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4682

The total material costs of all 3 Frozen Shadoweave items are(if you are specced for the cloth and do all transmutes yourself):
234 Netherweave Cloth
26 Arcane Dust
13 Primal Shadow
13 Primal Fire
38 Primal Water
8 Netherweb Spider Silk

Spellfire Specialization http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10832

You get the pattern for Spellcloth, Spellfire Bag(28 slot enchanting bag) and the 3 piece BoP set from the Spellfire Specialist in Lower City, Shattrath.

This is the set that fits for Fire mages and Fire warlocks. It has good int, damage and crit.

Spellfire Belt http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21908
Spellfire Gloves http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21909
Spellfire Vest http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21910

Total for the set is +42 int, 69 spell crit rating, +172 fire damage and +172 arcane damage. The 3 piece set bonus is " Increases spell damage by up to 7% of your total Intellect."

To make the set you need Primal Fire and Primal Mana for the Spellcloth, and Primal Fire for the items. Here are some places you can farm the motes:
Mote of Fire http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22574 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4170
Mote of Mana http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22576 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4440

The total material costs of all 3 Spellfire items are(if you are specced for the cloth and do all transmutes yourself):
234 Netherweave Cloth
26 Arcane Dust
13 Primal Mana
51 Primal Fire
10 Netherweb Spider Silk

Primal Mooncloth Specialization http://www.wowhead.com/?quest=10831

To transmute the Primal Mooncloth you need to go to a Moonwell. The Outlands Moonwell is in Cenarion Refuge, Zangarmarsh, 81,64.

You get the pattern for Primal Mooncloth, Primal Mooncloth Bag(20 slot bag) and the 3 piece BoP set from the Primal Mooncloth Specialist in Lower City, Shattrath.

This is the set for healers. It has good int, spi, healing and mana regen.

Primal Mooncloth Belt http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21916
Primal Mooncloth Shoulders http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21918
Primal Mooncloth Robe http://www.wowhead.com/?item=21917

Total for the set is +40 int, +38 spi, +275 healing and 22 mana regen/5 sec. The 3 piece set bonus is "Allow 5% of your mana regen to continue while casting."

To make the set you need Primal Life and Primal Water for the Primal Mooncloth, and Primal Mana for the robe. Here are some places you can farm the motes:
Mote of Water http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22578 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4682
Mote of Life http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22575 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=56
Mote of Mana http://www.wowhead.com/?item=22576 http://www.thottbot.com/beta?i=4440

The total material costs of all 3 Primal Mooncloth items are(if you are specced for the cloth and do all transmutes yourself):
342 Netherweave Cloth
38 Arcane Dust
19 Primal Life
19 Primal Water
10 Primal Mana
8 Netherweb Spider Silk

I thought tailoring was completely !#**, until I actually tried making money with it.. one of the richest guys on my server is a blacksmith, he buys in bulks and sells crafted items.. last I saw him selling the epic shield from AQ20

Some BS items that you can sell are silver/gold/truesilver rods and items with +str/stam.. I've got a 150 blacksmith which makes around 2-3 profit each day from selling silver and gold rods only

Hey,

I made an improvement on your Excel spreadsheet. Mine uses the data Auctioneer collection during Auction House scans. This data is then used in the Excel spreadsheet to calculate the best price (eg. Selling on AH or Disenchanting). If anyone wants it, I'll post a guide on how to extract the data from the game, and to import it in your spreadsheet :).

Cheers,

I'm wondering if I should make a leatherworking moneymaking guide.. I'll do it the same way I did this one(go through every single crafted item and see if it's good or not, and test if it sells if it looks good), and since I'm gonna level LW on my alt soon I'll do it for my own good anyways.

I already did :) made a better LW powerleveling guide that got added to the sticky, and I chose DLW.. I've had some nice profit with it too, had some nice prices for black dragonscale which made it cost me 72G to craft 3 pieces of Black Dragonscale and sell them for 192G after AH cut

You mean the powerlvling guide? I found and read that one, which is awesome ofcourse and though I already got my main at DS LW 300 for a while Ill be probably checkin often for alts...couldnt find a moneymaking guide like the tailoring one though...dunno if you ever made one, just curious...got an alt with Tailoring/Enchanting and this guide really helps me with getting some cash, so one for LW would be awsome... ^^

Imbued Netherweave, requires a mana loom. The only one that I am aware of presently is near the seller of the pattern in the lower city of Shattrath City. Is anyone aware of any other looms elsewhere?

I am 90% sure this is the only mana loom....mainly because when you ask a guard he will direct you to it...
