It was not intended to make fishing a requirement to level cooking in this way. We will introduce some new recipes in 2.4 to bridge the gap.

Um .. just change the damned things back. Why after all this time did some genius decide to mess with them in the first place?

Ever heard the phrase "if it ain't broke don't fix it"? WTF could be broken about the way the recipes skilled cooking?

It's not as if there aren't enough things broken in this game that NEED fixing!

At least they are aware and intend to do something.

But how far into the future is 2.4? Sounds to me that a lot of cooks will have to take up fishing anyway.

Leveled my cooking from 0-352 yesterday without fishing, and the only hard part i had was the damn drop rates for Tender Wolf Meat and Giant Eggs.

To get inside DM and get the recipe was really easy to do by yourself, at least as a mage.
And while in DM there were lots of Warpwood Pods to get the Runn Tum Tumber required for the recipe.

Took about 5 hours skilling it from 0-352.

But i can imagine it being hard to level cooking if you are below level 70.

I assume 2.4 includes Sun Well. 2.3.2 is probably coming in next couple of weeks. And I have also heard a rumor that Sun Well would come before 2008, so on other words 2.4 comes within a month if this is true. But tbh, I don't belive this will happen nor I hope it. Would suck to see the last 25man raid instance in TBC coming during christmas time. That would force lots of top guilds do HC raiding during time when everyones interest should be somewhere else that WoW, if they want to keep their status as one of the best guilds on world, EU/US or server.

So lvl up fishing, do AH grind or wait a "bit".

-.-

nice, not sure what level range you going to add recipes, but the part to get to 375 isnt the only problem without fishing, 250-300 is also problematic to get without fishing. 275-300 the only non-fish recipe I am aware off is runn tum tuber surprise, wich means farming dire maul(for both recipe and the runn tum tubers) and getting from 250 to 275 there's spiced chili crab and monster omelet, both are green between 250 and 275 and are the only 2 non fishing recipes at those levels.

I might have missed a fwe recipes, but these 3 are the only ones I am aware off to get from cooking 250-300 without baking fish.

guess if you mention cooking without fishing and only info I found so far was aobut the stretch to 375, so though I'd bring this part up :) not sure if it been emtnioned allraedy or not though, just got link to blue post and no time to read rest of post :s

I find it quite relaxing to fish, just talk to someone while doing it

Either ingame or on Ventrilo/TeamSpeak

Haha, just saw this today.

I spent a couple of days a week or so ago raising my cookin, when I hit the wall I checked your guide and couldn't figure out why I couldn't make the recipes I had go further. Then I saw the Runn Tum Tuber recipe and soloed it only to find that the only place the ingredients are to be found is.... Dire Maul. Meh.

So. Yeah. It's a good incentive to level up fishing, as I think I might need the water motes for my alt/guildies profession progression as well as just selling them. Still, it's good that this was not an intended change as it means we're getting new recipes.

Or buy raw fish on AH or directly from other players. (Its not an optimal solution, but it works)

There's no problem getting 299-300 cooking without fishing, it's a recipe that has been in the game for 1½ years. Sandworm meat.

My fishing is 375 and cooking is also 375. I spent a long time to achive this :)
I think fishing is really relaxing somethimes. It feels like the other part of the game.

I am verry dissapointed that there are so few good recipies you can make with highlvl fishing , and
the cooking recipies arent really the way they should be. I would like Blizzard to implement high lvl recipies, that would stimulate people to learn these professions.

When you go out raiding with a group, i think that it is a MUST that you are prepared!
( ofcourse i am talking about being prepared for high lvl instances ). :)

Blizzard, pls implement some high lvl recipies that we can use during our raids!
Recipies like:

Recipies, that are like an elixer, and last for 2hours. even when you die the effect stays. <- THIS WOULD BE SOO COOL!!!

Recipies, that give a TANK MORE AGRO to do the tanking job much better :)

Recipies, that give a group buff when somebody in the group eats it.

There are ofcourse much more ideas!

Conclusion:
This way farming the food, or fishing the food will be much more fun!, and more people will start doing it.
Pls lets not forget that PVE is also verry nice:)

I hope blizzard will understand us, and implement these uber recipies soon :) already thnx!

Kind regards,

Well according to the 2.4 Patch notes for the test realm, they've got it covered.

"New recipes, Charred Bear Kabobs and Juicy Bear Burgers, can be purchased from either Bale (Horde) or Malygen (Alliance) in Felwood. These recipes requires 250 skill to learn, and are created from meat found on level 48-56 bears. This will aid players in leveling up their cooking skill to 300 without fishing. "

Hopefully this shouldn't change when brought into the rest of the realms.

You can always spot a hunter. Look down the arrow sticking out of your chest and you will see me in the distance, waving back.

I'm pretty sure you have to go to Sillithus now and get cooking to 300 .. at least I'm flying there as we speak anyway to do just that!

Personally I am of the opinion that if our Fel Puppy's Paranoia actually spots a Rogue in stealth before he's jumped me, then the Rogue should just die. Instantly. Like; right there and then.
