Original sticky on the EU Druid forums by Eluno, 60 NE Druid, Kazzak. Maintainined by Athinira.

I've seen alot of posts / topics where people wonder where you can get different Idols and which Idols that are currently available. So I'm making a post to inform all you that are uninformed about these issues.

1.0 Available Idols

1.1 Idol of Ferocity
1.2 Idol of Brutality
1.3 Idol of Rejuvenation
1.4 Idol of Health
1.5 Idol of Longevity
1.6 Idol of the Moon

2.0 Upcoming Idols

2.1 Idol of the Claw
2.2 Idol of the Wild
2.3 Idol of Tenacity
2.4 Idol of Savagery
2.5 Harold's Rejuvenating Broach
2.6 Idol of the Emerald Queen
2.7 Idol of the Twin Bears
2.8 Ivory Idol of the Moongoddess

3.0 Info on Idols

--------------------------------------------------

1.0 Currently there are 6 existing Idols ingame:

1.1 Idol of Ferocity
Equip: Reduces the energy cost of Claw and Rake by 3.
Dropped by: Lord Roccor 49-51 elite (19.39% dropchance)
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=53231

*** Burning Crusade *** Idol of Ferocity will also affect Mangle, reducing cost by 3 energy.

Lord Roccor is easily soloable for a lvl 60 druid, but shouldn't be too much of a challenge for lower levels (57+).
Roccor is found in the circular hallway (going around Ring of Law) in BRD. Stealth in to the middle of the hallway where there's a door opening and pull him from there. Lord Roccor is stunnable, so if you're getting low on health, bash him and heal up. You shouldn't have any problems with adds there as the range to other mobs is pretty far.

--------------------------------------------------

1.2 Idol of Brutality
Equip: Reduces the rage cost of Maul and Swipe by 3.
Dropped by: Magistrate Barthilas
http://www.thottbot.com/?i=53608

Magistrate Barthilas is found in Stratholme Baron side in 1 of 2 locations all depending on where you entered the instance (main gates or back entrance / service entrance). Barthilas will always spawn just outside the service gate, but when you open it he will run away yelling and place himself just outside the gauntlet (abomination place before the baron). The easiest way to get him is to enter through the main gate and fight your way to the service entrance as seen on this map: http://img88.imageshack.us/my.php?image=stratholme9ba.jpg
The blue dot marks a locked door and you will have to clear about 10 packs + a few patrols to get to him, so get a group and start farming!

--------------------------------------------------

1.3 Idol of Rejuvenation http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=22398

Equip: Increases healing done by Rejuvenation by up to 50.

Dropped by: Mor Grayhoof 58-60 elite (13.26% dropchance)

Mor Grayhoof is found in LBRS in the room where War Master Voone is located (tiny berserker boss). Mor is summoned as a part of the tier 0.5 quest, but after you complete the whole tier, you will get a brazier which you can use to summon Mor as many times as you want. The boss is pretty hard (NOT soloable), but a decent equipped group consisting of 3 druids and 2 rogues should be able to take her down. The boss is a pain in the neck, but the reward is great!

--------------------------------------------------

1.4 Idol of Health http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=22399

Equip: Reduces the casting time of your Healing Touch spell by 0.15 sec.

Dropped by: Viscidus Boss lvl ?? (17.05% dropchance)

Viscidus is found in the Temple of Ahn'Qiraji. After Fankriss the Unyielding instead of going right towards Princess Huhuran go straight forwards through the tunnel and up the small slope next to the sand-waterfall. Viscidus is one of the hardest bosses in AQ 40 so bring skills and a hell of alot of Greater Nature Protection Potions.

--------------------------------------------------

1.5 Idol of Longevity http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=23004

Equip: Regain up to 25 mana each time you cast Healing Touch

Dropped by: Instructor Razuvious Boss lvl ?? (12.40% dropchance)

Razuvious is found in the Deathknight Wing in Naxxramas. Tough guy, not gonna reveal anything about him except bring priests, luck and skill ;)

The Idol of Longevity seems to have a reduced effect on lower ranks of HT where 25 mana is restored only on ranks 9, 10 and 11.

HT Rank - Mana restored
1 - 1
2 - 2 or 3
3 - 5
4 - 7 or 8
5 - 11 or 12
6 - 14
7 - 16 or 17
8 - 20 or 21
9 - 25
10 - 25
11 - 25

1.6 Idol of the Moon http://thottbott.com/test?i=53722

Equip: Increases the damage of your Moonfire spell by up to 17%.

Dropped by: None special. Random World Drop (Idol is Bind on Equip).

I (Athinira) personally saw it drop on The Razza in the Dire Maul Arena on the 1.12 test servers, but it has been reported to drop many places. Your best bet is for it to drop on a random level 55+ mob (normal or elite) or to grab it on AH. Expect high prices though. This is the first Idol that supports the druids' magic damage, even though it's "only" Moonfire that benefit from it.

Thank to Efejel, 60 Tauren Druid, The OCK on Dragonblight US for the following info:

Q u o t e:
It doesn't scale with gear, and seems to be applied additively with the talents Imp. Moonfire & Moonfury.

So how much damage does it add to rank 10 moonfire?
It adds 5 dmg per tick with 0 +dmg gear equipped, and 5 dmg per tick with 440 +dmg gear equipped. So, +20 dmg over the duration of the DoT component. Since the tooltip for Moonfire (untalented) rank 10 reads "Burns the enemy for 189 to 221 Arcane damage and then an additional 384 Arcane damage over 12 sec." this is EVEN LESS damage than you would expect on the DoT component.
384 * 1.17 = 449.28 / 4 = 112.32 - (384/4) = 16.32 dmg per tick is what you would expect.
The initial damage range is so wide it's hard to tell how much it adds. In aboout 50 casts I established a range of 308-345 dmg. while wearing 440 +dmg, with 5/5 Imp. Moonfire & 5/5 Moonfury testing against low level mobs which I would expect had zero resists. I would estimate it adds ~12-20 dmg to the initial component.

Are you saying that this is not only underpowered in concept but possibly adding less than 17% dmg to the base of the spell?
Lemme summarize the results of my testing: The Devs shafted Balance Druids again, and we're expected to take it right in the anus because there are zero other Balance related idols currently in the game.

So would you recommend buying it?
Emphatically no. First, and foremost, because it sucks. Second, because refusing to buy it now means a lower price for you and every other Druid who later gets one. Finally, because we need to send messages to the devs that we're tired of being jerked off and we want the same head they give the Ferals, and maybe even some of the punani action Restoration gets.

Update: The Idol of the Moon IS confirmed to be bugged at the moment, and the developers are looking into it. See screenshot:

3.0 Info on Idols

Idols occupy the Idol slot right next to your offhand weapon. They act like weapons and can therefore be switched in combat, which triggers a 1.5 second global cooldown, so switch wisely.

Q u o t e:
ZOMG ninja! oh, well... HF updating it ;)

EDIT: boooo at the new forums! my hair ain't green! cmon blizz do something right! :)

I will :)

However it seems like the new forum does NOT allow posts at the same length as the previous forum so some of your guide disappeared and i had to make 2 posts. Would you mind deleting your first post so it doesn't clutter up the guide? :)

Regards, Athinira

Btw im 99% sure that the 17% dmg bonus to moonfire will be applied to the base damage, not including your spell damage gear, moonfury talent is the same, blizz dont like us moonkins ;s

No it doesn't. Read below from US testing, unless it gets changed it plainly SUCKS.

Ill repost here my calculation of current state of Idol of Moon:

Moonfire (Rank 10)
375 Mana
Instant cast
Burns the enemy for 189 to 221 Arcane damage and then an additional 384 Arcane damage over 12 sec.

Lets do some math...
On avarage Moonfire does:
(189+221)/2+384 = 205+384 = 589

Now idol adds up to 17% of damage:
589 * 0.17 = 100,13

Yes, when you equip idol, it counts like you have +100 up to damage when resolving moonfire damage. Clear? Idol add +100 up to damage for moonfire.

But how moonfire calculate UP TO damage?
First of all its INSTANT spell so bonus is reduced according to cast time (for INSTANT spells its Global Cooldown time):
1.5/3.5 = 43%

Secondly its hybrid spell, so lets calculate inpact damage and Dot damage separatly:
(+ up to damage) is splited between impact and DoT in proportion to spell total damage:
Impact: 205/589 = 35%
Dot: 100%-35% = 65%

So impact damage is:
43%*35% = 15%

DoT component ticks only 4 times, so it receive only 80% of its damage part:
43% * (80% * 65%) = 22%
splitted on 4 ticks:
22%/4 = 5,5% for every tick...

And since idol adds base +100 up to damage for moonfire calculation, it really add:
- 15 impact damage
- 4x5 DoT damage
For total of 35 damage per moonfire...
Now ask yourself, is it worth? :)

PS.
This is current state of this Idol. Question is, it it intentional, or 17% bonus is implemented in code in "wrong" place (now is before INSTANT cast time reduction, but description suggest it should be AFTER).
